Well not that motel life is a decent life; but these people should still feel fortunate on some level. At least they are able to come up with the money to stay in a hotel; there are alot of people who are not fortunate enough to have money to stay anywhere. $250 a week is ridiculous for a 2 bedroom hotel room; and I'm sure its hard to save money when you are paying that; but Thank God they can afford taht so their family is not on the street.
If I didn't have a co-signer then I would have to live in a hotel. It is not about making poor choices but about housing prices that are too high. I blame the overall setup of our society where it is just so hard just to barely make it.
Housing needs to be based on income so everyone can have a place to live. No one should be homeless. If a person has no income then their needs to be a program like hillcrest minstries to get on their feet. Some people can not work full time due to a disablity.
I love the song at the beginning "Hotel California" by the Eagles (I think, for some damn reason I can't remember the name of the band right now) anyway ...
... This is truely sad. My mom never got a high school education b/c her family couldn't afford it (she's from the Philippines) so she does housekeeping, and my dad is going to lose his job in 2~3 years. My older sister is in college and is using student loans & i can't find a job. I hope America changes it's budget b4 things get worse4evry1
My best friend in middle & high school lived in a hotel. Her situation was different though because her father made poor choices which kept them there. When I first found out she lived in a hotel I didn't want to go over or be friends anymore. My mother talked me into giving her a chance and I will always be thankful that she did. My first experience eating at a shelter was with her. She is one of the most important people in my life and is always there for me no matter what.
I moved into a motel just last week having a low paying job just barely keeping my head above water. I'm trying to save as much money right now so I can get back on the road driving a truck. I wish there was affordable housing that's more affordable.
poor life choices like going back to college? I am treated like I made a bad descion because I am getting my masters degree. I was going to live in motel because I am a full time college student. A lot of places where afraid their apartments would become dorms if they accept college students. I am 35 years old! I had to have a co-leaser at the place I am at now. 80% of my income goes to rent. If my rent increases upon my lease renewal I could be in this situation.
sound is terrible

I really hate when people say that people make poor life choices. That is not always the case espically in this economy.
