Thanks to everyone for your stories and comments. I wish I had more to post and I have looked around for more of Dave's material but no luck so far. If anyone else has more material that you would like to share, please let me know. Although I didn't know him personally, I corresponded with Dave once and he was a true gem.
I used to sit and have a beer almost every second Saturday Night and sing karaokee together with Dave.. and i'm reading threw the comments.. it wasn't stomache cancer...it was a brain tumor.. likely caused by RF Radiation from a cell phone he constantly used.. when this was recorded ... he wasn't diagnosed with it... so it is unlikely that you can recognize cancer in him at this point in time... it likely wasn't prevelant, but i miss Dave every Saturday night. And i'm sure everyone will!
David died of a brain tumor, not stomach cancer. He believed that his cell phone usage contributed to his cancer - it was important to him that people knew that. You can read about it if you google "Dave Hook Cancer".
Four years on August 30 David - you are still missed deeply, and loved forever.
I remember when i first saw this on tv back when i was in high school, i tried to buy dave's cd online and couldn't find it anywhere so he made me a burnt cd and sent it to me in the mail. Great guy, RIP dave.
@brade86 hey, I used to have a tape of Dave about 15yrs ago, but have no clue where it is, I was wondering if you still have the cd and if so, would i possibly be able to get a copy, it would be greatly appreciated.
@dlubnow hey i do still have the cd somewhere i will look for it and let you know. maybe i should put it on youtube. just to let you know the cd he made me was not one of his actual cds it was a mix of a bunch of his stuff he had recorded. its pretty cool.
I heard Dane Cook's Kool-Aid bit today and I feel sick that he is using a bit that I heard Dave Hook do in 1993 -- almost word for word. What a crock! Dave Hook introduced me to enjoying stand up comedy when I was in high school and now I see Dane Cook making millions using Hook's material. Shame.
I went to highschool with dave and was unaware of his death. He was a very talented and friendly guy. I wish I had the opportunity to know him better.R.I.P.Dave
Thanks for the Video String Thing 68, Dave and I used to hang out almost every Saturday Night, I miss him dearly, and would like to back his aunt at saying he was a great artist in general, a brilliant mind, and a very good friend. He will be missed by many. For years to come. Hope all is well on the other side ma brother.
Thank-you for posting this. I miss Dave. I am sorry I didn't know I would have liked to have been there. He stood up at my stag and doe and my wedding. Dave will be missed. Please let me know where he is buried so I can visit him.
I am Dave Hook's aunt. Dave passed away August, 2006. As well as being a comic, Dave was an accomplished songwriter and musician. Dave, you are missed.
@tootle53 I'm very sorry to hear about Dave's passing. I think he was truly a great comedian and I'm sure he was as good a man as you say. May he rest in peace.

Dane Cook sucks and uses material from various comedians.

@DeeeAnnna01: Dane Cook needs to have his nuts cut off, and his voice box removed.

Awesome Video! I remember watching this on TV after school years ago. Do you happen to have the rest of the video? With the cool-aid bit and so on.
Excellent Video Post. He hasn't been forgotten. RIP Dave.

@tootle53 I can see in Dave's face that he obviously had cancer. What sort of cancer did he have ? It's so strange that I thought that.
And yes, I did read the video discription. He was later diagnosed with cancer.
Just what I had thought.
It is my belief that he was diagnosed with stomache cancer. It hit him rather fast.

Lol, you'd be taking loans from the bank to pay that for the rest of your life, and after death you'll still be paying it.
