@seth78546 Duh, because you use your other hand to initially set it. It's only been closed a dozen times ever so show some respect you ignorant troll.
pay for a way over priced piece of metal, and get a workout? or get stronger? or just see if you can squeeze it with monkey brains...me strong monkey..me like expensive shiney metal
@seanp1129 lol...your the one with 63 dicks in your mouth...why dont u speak for yourself...and yea i was wrong for that comment, i thought they cost more money...but now that i know they cost 20 bucks...thats alright...
@ThleTruth Who cares how much they cost. If you are going to make retarded comments about grip training then go somewhere else. To us, it's a big deal and we take it serious. Your ignorance on the difficulty and level of dedication to grip training is obvious.
Some of the taller, larger wrestlers should test well at grip, especially if they trained it. Paul Wight and The Great Khali must have extremely large hands. Someone whose hands likely were not especially large, but would have seriously outperformed in grip, was The Strongman of Islington--Thomas Topham, 18th century Englishman. Pocket Hercules, greatest of all time in clean & jerk, had grip challenge to maintain hold on bar due to smaller hands. What a grip huge Mills Darden must have had.
i can close the number 2..big deal...would someone explain to me the reason for the credit card set rule!?? no matter where i set it it is always the last fraction of an inch in the 2.5 that stops me...others i have talked to say the same..the last half inch is the killer..so why is it important where you start!?
You retards who keep posting negative comments do not know what your talking about. It's true if you use a parallel set on something like COC 1 or trainer gripper your right... your hands are not that strong. But for a COC 4! Does it even really matter if you used two hands? I have seen weightlifters literally use their whole upper body for the COC 3 and not even close it! I would like to see most you retards even budge a COC 4 with your whole body!
@GermanicPrussian Speaking of a #5, I actually had Warren Tetting make a custom gripper that fit the description of what I thought a #5 would look like if such a thing existed (it's obvious it's not an Ironmind, though, but a nice nvoelty). It even has a 5 inscribed on the bottom of both handles. It's just a world class with a 1/4" mount and a 2 3/4" spread, though.
It's called using a parallel set. If you can do better I would love to see it. All of the #4 closers that are currently certified could use that set and all but 1 did under the old cert rules before they were changed a few years ago.
I noticed that the ones crying "CHEATER" have never grip trained beyond maybe a cheap plastic Wal-Mart gripper that's about half as strong as the Guide. They don't seem to get that all you're doing is improving your leverage and that the part at the end is still 365 lbs. My favorite analogy is like a liftoff on a 1RM bench press, usually they get it then (or else expose themselves as couch potatoes). Anyways, amazing close. Do you plan on certing on the #4? Me, I'm still working on the #3.
@acorcorr Dude its amazing the kind of shit people say about that set. Its true if you use a parallel set on something like COC 1 or trainer grip sure, your hands are not that strong. But for a COC 4! does it even really matter if you used a parallel set on that? I have seen people (who were weight lifters and very strong by the way) literally use their whole upper body for the COC 3 and not even close it! I would like to see most these retards even budge a COC 4 with their whole body.
I know it looks like he used two hands to close it, but all a gripper set does is gives you an advantage with leverage. The gripper is a lever, not even in difficulty throughout due to the spring based nature of it, all he does is skip over the easy part to do the truly toughest part with better leverage. It's still 365 lbs of resistance, but with better leverage. It's no different than getting a liftoff when attempting a bench 1RM, I'd hardly call that cheating.
Absolutely love the prep man! Mind over matter, that's what it's all about! Sik close! Just got my hands on a CoC Level 1 this week, and closed it for 8 reps, both hands on first shot with no warm up and I have no grip training, just weight lifting. I know I got a long way to go, but figure I'm off to a good start. I always had a good natural grip that's why I never worried about it. But, now it's time to train cause I know I ain't shit in the world of CoC, lol. Get that fucking cert bro!
If the rules were still the same as when those people certified I would. No one has certified on the #4 since the rule change requiring a credit card set and new gripper out of the package. Its a whole different animal with that set and an un-oiled, unseasoned #4. Like going from the #1 to #3 to go from what I did here to that. Just need a few more years of training to get there.
Yeah, thats true, the new rules make it a lot harder. Because of the size of my hand, I basically have to do the close with no set to be within the rules. Thats why I practice it that way. I did the #3 with no set with my right hand a while ago, then I had an accident, and I'm working back up to that. I am certified on the #3 the old rules, but I want to certify under the new rules with no set. Good luck with that #4, that thing is a beast.
@acorcorr Are you sure that it is that much of a jump to go from closing it with a deep set to using a credit card set? That sounds a bit extreme, given that I can close the #1 quite easily with a table no set, but alas, I am unable to set the #3 gripper, or even chest crush it. However, you actually train with this gripper, so I suppose you would know much better than I do, but keep up the good work, this was an impressive close and I believe that you will someday certify on the #4.
So many negative comments I don't understand why? What you just witnessed was truly incredible.

Do you really think it's just as hard to close from a deep set as it is to close from a credit card or no set?
