The song was released on a maxi single (long version 7:34 and dub version 4:15) in 1983. It is not included on the "Living My Life" album. In France, the video is available in a 3 DVD box set of the 80's TV show "Sex Machine". The box set was released in November 2011, you can find it on amazon . fr under the name "Sex Machine".
I remember when I first saw this video in the 80s, I didn't like the masks the dancers wore, i found it insulting. Now when I see it, it's perfect, it expresses for me the treatment black women get and how we are seen, even by other black people.
Yoko Ono and John Lennon had "Women are the niggers of the world", being a black woman is a mother fucker!.
A masteroiece. I had the one woman show video, and this was on it. It can be found on the 2004 collection, and Private life...the compass years. I love her aggression, another good example is "Kicked around"
I like the aggression too! She's always been that persona I wished I could be. Strong, take no B.S. from anybody, live life on your own terms without blinking; that is VERY rare nowadays, with the gansta rap bullshit!
For me I would say Grace, Sade, Susan Taylor (Essence mag), the movie "Diva". Diva was the first time I saw a black woman celebrated and unfortunately not too many others since then.
There's a lot to choose from, but this is one of her most memorable videos. Needless to say this is a Jean Paul Goude/Grace Jones collaboration - they were a fantastic team.
High fashion to music.....there is no style like Jones style!!

On which album was this one? I thought it was on 'Living my Life' and when I bought it it wasn't on the album! Love the video!

Ah, from the days of Jean Paul Goude ... as fantastic as she is, her videos haven't quite been the same.
