@HNM69 I turn my oven to "broil" and I cook the chicken about 10 minutes on each side. Broil doesn't have a degree setting, but it is full power from the top.
@HNM69 I just looked up the term broiling - I think it is the same as grilling! > "In the United States and Canada, when the heat source for grilling comes from above, grilling is termed broiling" I cant wait to start cooking!
if you can deep fry ur wings do it its awsome! they get so crispy and amazing! a broiler is the next best thing and these wings looks awsome but i still have to go back to my roots of cookin them bare so that skin has that amazing texture!
@bobwatters Thanks for your great comment! I have a different version of hot wings that are boneless hot wings, like you get at Applebee's, and I have a Blazin' Hot Wind Sauce to go with it. The way you make them sounds wonderful!
@lilsuperkt You set the oven to "Broil," not a temperature. When your oven is set to broil, you generally leave the oven door open slightly, so that the heating element does not go off and your food cooks from above.
@nikiandkinda Overnight will be great. The flavor will be absorbed even more--and if they are fresh at the beginning, they will be fine in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 days.
I love American food and have craved for a true American recipe for hot wings, last night i put a bunch of wings to marinade in the fridge, following your recipe the best i could, and left them to marinade for 24 hours, and will be cooking them soon and expect them to be rather HOT.

@vivadave Hi Dave! I hope the wings turn out great! I have another version: Boneless Chicken Wings, that I use with Blazin' Hot Wing Sauce that you might enjoy, too!
hi betty...i was wondering the same way you made your buffalo wings in the oven on broiler, can i do the same technique for tequila lime chicken wings?...
@PurpleLashess Hi Jason, Your chicken wings will do fine on "Bake." The heat will come from the top and the bottom, so the cooking time may be affected, and you may not get as much brownness--but it will be great!
@PurpleLashess Jason, if your oven has a grill setting that is the same as broiling. just that Americans have different names for the same thing. Broiling in the states is cooking with heat from above and grilling is from the bottom. hope this helps..

Hi Betty, tried your hot wings recipe and they turned out great Thanks for the tip on leaving the oven door open to keep the broiler going! The heat turning on and off has drove me crazy. However, I need your help with my build in oven. My cousin decided to clean my oven and some how the soap got in between the glass panes! I think he used way too much ajax. Well now I have two white streaks running down the glass and it just breaks my heart as I just got it last Xmas. Please help!! Thx, Dody
@dorothysue1 Thanks for your great feedback on the wings. I really appreciate it!. I don't know any way to clean the area between the two glass panes; maybe it will improve over time.
Betty recipe is basically a good recipe, but you can improve it by making a mixture of flour, cayenne pepper, garlic, and a little salt. After the wings are coated put them in the refrigerator for a while to set the flour and then marinate them in your sauce. The wings will be have a crispy coating and hold the hot flavor much better.
Hi betty, I am unable to use our broiler because out oven/stove is like 15 years old and we've never used it so It doesn't look nice down there! I was wondering how could i go about doing the wings as a regular baked recipe rather than broil. Should i raise then temp to 400?
@petitecutie15 You may easily bake the chicken wings. You may raise the temperature to 400, but the main thing is just to watch them closely and remove them from the oven when they are done all the way through and they are to your liking!
thanks betty for replying to my comment , i know you are very buisy with your channel and i feel hounerd you took the time to reply , your channel is the best on you tube ,

Very nice Betty! I was always under the assumption that wings had to be fried and tossed to look that good but seeing your recipe, I'm very impressed and can't wait to try this out.
Hey betty thanks for the cool tips, I really enjoyed this one. I will probably use tapatio hot sauce when I make mine... I'll probably make em every other sunday to watch Football Aka Soccer!
@sabocho When you broil something, you need to set your oven to "Broil." That way, the upper heating element stays on. To see the full recipe, including the use of the oven, click the down arrow or "more info" by the video.

I'm making wings in a few hours for a party. I was going to fry them, but I really would like to bake them. So I have 2 questions, and I hope might get an answer in time! LOL 1. Is it absolutely necessary to use a broiling pan? I don't have one, but I could use a rack and sit in inside a cookie sheet. 2. How do these compare in texture and flavor to fried wings (I've only had Wingstop)? Would you say they are about the same? TY!
@garciajennifer223 Hi! Yes, you may use a rack inside a shallow pan. Fried wings are usually coated with breading, and these are not. For hot wings, I prefer this baked method over fried, because the flavor just penetrates the chicken so well. With the breaded fried wings, you need a dipping sauce for flavor.
This look really good..though i think i might double the amount of sauce because i like mine to have extra sauce on them...but they good delicious!! Thank you for the reciepe.!!!!!
im doing this tomorrow with Daves temporary insanity sauce and cholula suace. your method is good, but there is no way that sauce is going to be hot enough for me thanks so much for posting this!
I gotta tell ya those wings look great. I have never had any luck baking them in the sauce because they don't get crispy like I like them. I have better luck cooking them and tossing them in the buffalo sauce afterwords. I'll have to try using the broiler like you do.
hello betty, I finally cooked the spicy wings, thy're so good, spicy really good, I was worried because I didn't have the proper pan to broil the wings but everything came out good, thank you very much,

Is the red and black pepper optional or a must add?

@00MsLovely The red and black pepper are a must-add for hot wings; if you just want some good-tasting wings, you don't have to add them!

do you broil with the oven door open? sorry i'm not so clear on that. It sure looks delicious though!

@bunnybunnyppg Yes, I keep the oven door open--just slightly. That keeps the burner unit going.

I gotta tell ya those wings look great. I have never had any luck baking them in the sauce because they don't get crispy like I like them. I have better luck cooking them and tossing them in the buffalo sauce afterwords. I'll have to try using the broiler like you do.
