I may be mistaken.... but i believe it's only the Laptop dock that requires the tethering package.... and even then i think it's only if you use the full-featured Firefox browser. Not exactly sure on that last part.... but i don't recall any such requirement for the multimedia dock.

If you want HD from them you need to pay for it on their site. You get a ton of cool content though.
