  • Shackleton and his men did not drag lifeboats for 'hundreds of miles over Antarctica' during the Endurance expedition as the narrator suggests. The story of Shackleton and his men is heroic enough without adding artistic license to the story, especially when the artistic license leads to falsehoods. The ice moved them hundreds of miles and during that time Shackleton conceded that hauling the three boats was futile.

    You would think that for such a honourable intent, that the poetic licence or accuracy would be paramount!

    Either way, Sir Ernest and his team (most) would have to go down as the most accomplished survival tale of the 20th century (Along with some of the crew members of the Terra Nova stranded on the continent in an ice cave for 6 months.
