@EvanSol919 Steven Spielberg doesn't write his own movies, he either hires a writer or make a movie based on a novel, and 30% of Spielberg's movies have a rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes, which indicates he doesn't think before he makes a movie, unlike Nolan, Nolan has never made a bad movie, plus he has more passion. Spielberg definitely lacks the talent Nolan has, so he is more like the next Charlie Chaplin or the next James Cameron.

Compared to what happened in the prologue of The Dark Knight Rises the tractor trailer flip was small scale. If the rest of The Dark Knight Rises is like the prologue, it has a good plot, and Bane is more understandable I think there is a chance Rises will be better than The Dark Knight.

Christopher Nolan is a God amongst filmmakers. Only 7 films in his whole career & the new Batman movie on the way & he has achieved the impossible by bringing the Batman movies back to life once more & has written and directed the most original films to come out in this century. @CorsetGirl91 I would say that he is original in the sense of reimagining an iconic character like Batman. every Batman film before this felt like a comic book instead of doing that (though it is a comic book film) Nolan used Hyper-realism for his Batman stories. Also except for maybe Burton's batman film's everybody other Batman film has sucked hardcore. Even Tim Burtons film's kind of suck now. What is original about Nolan is his grand scale vision when it comes to cinema.

Also, if you really want him to get an Oscar, you should suggest that he take a page out of Ledger's book and start mixing drugs and getting himself killed. They'll give him an Oscar for it.

Christopher Nolan is a God amongst filmmakers. Only 7 films in his whole career & the new Batman movie on the way & he has achieved the impossible by bringing the Batman movies back to life once more & has written and directed the most original films to come out in this century. He's the only filmmaker who doesn't need Oscar gold to prove he's a genius. His name is all he needs.

He directed two films based on a comic book (which had been adapted into four films before), and directed an adaptation of a Christopher Priest novel, and remade a Norweigian film, and did a film based on his brother's story. Yep. A very original director. Also, there are a few other directors who don't need Oscar gold, and only need their name.

@CorsetGirl91 I would say that he is original in the sense of reimagining an iconic character like Batman. every Batman film before this felt like a comic book instead of doing that (though it is a comic book film) Nolan used Hyper-realism for his Batman stories. Also except for maybe Burton's batman film's everybody other Batman film has sucked hardcore. Even Tim Burtons film's kind of suck now. What is original about Nolan is his grand scale vision when it comes to cinema.

Actually that's a common misunderstanding. Chris didn't live in the USA "since he was 5".
He went back and forth between the countries, but spent more of his youth in the UK.
He went to School and University in the UK, so of course he's not going to sound American.
He may have sounded a little American back when he was 8 or 9 years old, but it (thankfully) went away.

@ec123456789able The way I see it, his movies are just OK. He's not bad in a Michael Bay or Troma way, but I don't think he's brilliant either. As for Batman, I don't like where he's taking the character: he's turned the franchise into a noir-crime-social drama. When I want to watch those kind of movies, I'll watch movies by Lumet or Alan J. Pakula. When I go see a Batman movie, I expect to see people in funny costumes beating the crap out of each other, not a 3 hour long dissertation. IMO.

Lucas once told Kershner if you have an idea there is always a way to make it work, even if it seems impossible. That is wath Nolan did for the 2 Batman movies. And that is why the prequals sucked, because Lucas just wanted to show lots of things on the screen with no idea.
