People aspire to having a well paid and respected job and fitting in with mainstream society. I am a hippie, but I am nothing like these folks described. I work (at whole foods.), I do not hate the military, or the government. I feel abortion is horrifying. I don't do the free love thing. I do not expect or get hand outs. I grow a lot of my own food, and I try to live a positive life that contributes to the bigger picture. I am very clean with my home and body. Live your life with meaning, be considerate of others, that's the important thing most people forget in our society.

Because when hippies appeared in the 60s, they represented immorality, rebellion, drug abuse, irresponsibility and atheism. They also rejected governmental authority. These things gave them a bad reputation because most people were conformists with the status quo, while hypocritically indulging in aspects of what hippies promoted. Thus, hippies influenced many, including the media and today, the conformity is to most things that hippies stood for except in the area of economics.

Here's my take on it. Hippies are a group of people that think the direction of humanity is going down the wrong path. The wrong path meaning war, corruption and greed. Hippies believe, that all people have the basic needs to life, meaning health care for all, shelter for all, food, good air and water. Hippies know that it's important for humanity and nature to coexist. Hippie think it's important to love and take care of our world. Hippies are the kind of people that capitalists fear.

If the blood incident did happen as you said, I have friends who would love to help you reason with the hippies. One is special forces and worked as private contractor in Iraq. He was the head of a group that cleared locations before arrival of dignitaries. I don't think it's always negative. To some ppl it may have a connotation of being spacey, irresponsible, flaunting certain social conventions, maybe personal hygiene not being a priority. I am a hippie, but I am nothing like these folks described. I work (at whole foods.), I do not hate the military, or the government. I feel abortion is horrifying. I don't do the free love thing. I do not expect or get hand outs. I grow a lot of my own food, and I try to live a positive life that contributes to the bigger picture. I am very clean with my home and body. Live your life with meaning, be considerate of others, that's the important thing most people forget in our society.

Yes, to the extent that they destroyed tradition, hippies are bad and are influenced by demons. Conservatives that destroy tradition and are too authoritarian are also bad and connected to demons.
All rebellions can go too far. We can not reinvent.

Being of that generation myself, it all sounded so beautiful, but we were deceived. Free love is immoral/heartbreaking. Peace/sometimes you have to fight or be a slave. I only found real satisfaction when I gave up myself and gave my life to the one true God, Jesus Christ. That was the day I received TRUE FREEDOM. Free to live a good life without the consequences of my sinful lifestyle and a soul that will return to the God who loved me enough to die for me. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Well all the Hippies I ran into are fun Loving people, out making a living. I don't see Hippies as Bad I see them with a happy good vibe attitude that acts kinda like an armor against negatives/ powerful forces of life. This attitude gets you through the tough times by always remembering the good in people. I can see where negative people feel threatened by this. Hey, Hippies are kewl! hippie is a term used to describe the generation brought up by the hipsters associated with the beat generation of the 1950s. people of our generation describing themselves as hippies is just as much a misnomer as any negative association the word has. its pretty much meaningless now.

Because hippies helped the mass spread of STDs in the 60's and 70's, they're dirty, smell like patchouli and sweaty armpit mixed, and think all that philosophising while on some sort of drug makes them look smart. I like non-violence and love my dog but, I take showers. "Peace and Love" is just topper for being a drugged out STD infested waste of space. The hippie movement died decades ago.

Youre funny. This is a parody, right? A better way to go about doing things is to treat people the way that youd like them to treat you. Try it youll like it. If the blood incident did happen as you said, I have friends who would love to help you reason with the hippies. One is special forces and worked as private contractor in Iraq. He was the head of a group that cleared locations before arrival of dignitaries. One thing that we usually talk about and agree on is we will never let soldiers be treated the way they may have been treated during Vietnam (spit on etc.).
