Particularly that style. You see it all over the place. And they're both Japanese, well Japanese looking. And Sheryl was designed before Miki even existed.

Also, I read somewhere that the guy who wrote the dialogues said that when Alto was talking to the blue-haired-girl (forgot her name) when she said "thats your love?" she was talking about the FRONTIER. I'd believe him since he wrote it. Alto loves Sheryl. Also: Check out episode 24 and you'll see what I mean.
