Austin has a pretty damn low crime and murder rate. I seriously doubt these are real "gangstas." I live in Columbus, a city of damn near equal size of Austin and we have 3 to 4 times the murder and crime rate, and we have very few real gangstas. Plus, I lived in Austin for 4 years. Austin is known as the safest large city, and they have friendly people. Stay weird.
