  • At 2:31 what is that device that's on your string I never seen one like that before

  • This looks so tiring

  • the panning in the video is hilarious. LOLZIEZ \m/

  • I have respect for Meshuggah and everything and I've never attempted this song, so excuse me if I come off as condescending. But what is it that's so hard about this song? I hear people saying it all the time. Is it the rythmic pattern of it? Because other than that I can't really tell.

  • @walshy0001 you really have to attempt to play it to understand it, its one hell of a right hand work out

  • I know u prolly get asked this alot but what is the thing u use to make that weird noise

  • @wpmtpm

    Cool story bro.

  • @wpmtpm Considering you have probably never played an 8 string I doubt you could appreciate the skill they possess. Not to mention 30 years of playing doesn't mean shit considering a person who plays every day for 10 years is better than a person who plays twice a week for 40 years. Length of time matters not when it comes to music.

  • @Elerokos 8 string is harder if you actually play it but this guy played it like a bass player not like Steve Vai so that was a talent FAIL! and your right about the time versus hours playing after 30 years i'm lucky to get it in tune i really do suck what what a dumb turd you are.

  • @wpmtpm did you just call a guy a turd? You sir are a prolapse masher!! i suggest you look that up.

  • @wpmtpm what an ignorant cunt you are.

  • @jeezuschryst Fuck off you loser you suck and so do these guys....... period!

  • @wpmtpm what in the fuck do you listen to, mister high and mighty

  • @wpmtpm why is it that people who like 80's shit are so critical of new age metal? like seriously fuck off old man. Your lecture of why your generations music is so much better never ends. First off not everyone can just yell...there is so much more to screaming then that. second, i dont see your band getting signed and being famous. so.....jealous much? or are you just tearing others down to make yourself feel better? did you get your feelings hurt by someone better then you? u mad bro?

  • @chasetheriffer haha i love this reply. "seriously fuck off old man"

  • @wpmtpm Nope, you're just retarded. Why don't you run along now and fiddle with your pentatonic scales some more? KTHXBAi!

  • @wpmtpm i dare you too do it better, Oh shit you can't right sorry.

  • @wpmtpm im sorry you clearly know nothing about metal, anybody can yell? i think not, try it yourself; holding pitches whilst yelling like this takes an extremely large amount of practice and skill, and whether its hard or not to play these riffs, it's about the unique timing and writing style that meshuggah uses. I guarantee you the guitarists of meshuggah would be able to rock circles around you. if you hate the genre, ignore the sounds listen to the technicality of there music.

  • @wpmtpm you old

  • @wpmtpm That is actually the most stupid thing I´ve ever seen somebody commented on Youtube. You really dont know and understand how tallented those musicians are, how much theory and disciplin they got.

You obviously don´t know what the hell you are talking about, so I suggest that you shut up rather than making your self appear as a uninformed fool. And whatever you might respond back to me I won´t care, and I will stand by me statement. I can´t believe the fact that you actually said it.

  • @Simen0303 Look all you guys are tone def musically you are the equivilents of a heavy metal band with down syndrome and i imagine you are all younger with that comes dumber and if these guys are so technical in thier abilities why does it sound non musical and bland randomly playing notes (what scale is that?) are you following me ? did i lose you? should i sound it out for you .i feel for you guys because this music is all you know yet you all know more than me how ironic i'm done arguing.

  • @wpmtpm Tone def, hilarious. First I would like to say that I listen to pretty much everything. I love music, you love certain genres. You really have to get out of your little head and understand the meaning of music. There are many different ways to express music, and this is definitely a good one. Yes, a very brutal way, but it is very great.

Just because this music doesn`t satisfy you doesn´t mean that it sucks. If you don´t like you might as well just shut up. Don´t say anything, ur wrong.

  • You look kinda like Nick Swardson. It would sweet if he could pull this shit off. I'd never think of grandmas boy the same again lol. Nice cover tho, well done man.

  • hahahahaaha, right at the end!

  • Certains s’entraînent avec un métronome pour être parfait rythmiquement. D'autres jouent du Meshuggah... C'est mieux, et ça groove !

  • Way harder on drums...

  • tis video heve a wiir part but is amezing enewy!!!

  • what brand is that guitar??

  • @isteponpuppies they may play the same note but they manipulate those notes with their palm muting techniques and rhythm picking, it's the same fret but they have altered the chord/note. I can see your reasons for hating them, most people do not like Meshuggah for your exact reason

  • this song is sick your guitar is sick the equipment behind you is sick and dude youre sick well done

  • most...epic...last...second....EVAA! lol. :P Great cover btw. Very nice guitar as well.

  • Awesome cover man!

  • holy mother of god.

  • is your guitar made of esp? :)

  • What makes this song so great is not really the amount of notes played, but how many ways you can make a couple notes sound awesome by syncopating the shit out of everything and utilizing rhythmic displacement. This song has great orchestration too, and each part is expanded upon. The opening riff starts out with a s-s-e-e pattern and then later is expanded into a s-s-e-e-e-e pattern, causing a different polyryhtm and overall feel to the same three note riff, Simple made Complex thru syncopati

  • i'm out on this song, and i don't like meshuggah, but that's some serious stamina man, good stuff there.

  • did anyone else jump out of their fuckin chair at the end?!?!

    JESUS CHRIST!!!!

  • Need a touch of tendonitis? Try this song over and over lol.

  • i wonder what's harder: learning how to play this song.. or getting the money to buy an 8 string..

  • @domhanator I got an 8 string for 900$, so that's not too bad. It's a Schecter Damien Elite 8. The song, however...

  • @domhanator

    Definitely learning the song :P

  • So I'm just curious. What did you sacrifice to Marten and Fredrik to be able to play that?

  • Am I the only person who thinks Meshuggah is bullshit? Seriously? It's the same fucking note repeated over and over and over and over...

  • @isteponpuppies ..and yet it is so beautiful. That's actually one of the things I like about Meshuggah.

  • @isteponpuppies

    No you're not.

  • @cataclysmichael If you think their bullshit, why are you wasting your time doing a cover of them.

  • @MitochondrialAdam

    I don't. Obviously.

  • @cataclysmichael I think the thing that fascinated me the most. Is doing that picking technique. Or at least watching it. And then seeing you change strings while doing it. Makes me jealous! I still can't do it and I've been trying to play this song for a good year and a bit now! lol

  • @MitochondrialAdam He's saying that isteponpuppies is not the only person to dislike Meshuggah for that reason

  • @isteponpuppies I wanna see you play this then

  • @isteponpuppies Its The Picking Pattern Thats Hard , Specificly Hertas In This Song , These Guys Invented Djent But It Is Kinda Bull Shit When Its Just The Same Note With a Drop .

  • @isteponpuppies i'm glad someone realizes this.

  • @isteponpuppies Dude, you're such a moron, it's not possible to have this speed and technicality with other notes, it's fucking hard enough with the one note.

Like honestly, have you tried to play this? It's insane as shit!

  • @isteponpuppies It's not as simple as that, isteponpuppies.

The point of the riff is it's speed and rhythmic syncopation and heavyness, Not scalar progressions or w/e.

Anyway, If that's all you see this song as, then you probably don't have the right musical taste for this Meshuggah.

  • @isteponpuppies I was thinking like that a while ago. But then you realize that it's not about how many notes are there, it's about whether you like how it sounds or not. If you turn this up loud in your headphones the sound is massive and brutal, which is the point of this music. Everyone has his own opinion, but don't judge it by how many notes there are. It's still fucking hard to play it rythmically)

  • @isteponpuppies That would be bleed that's the same not, and even that's not, listen to combustion, it's definitely not on note

  • if there is something in what you say you are right this guy does not seem real right hand grasps the same movement all the time is very wiird

  • @isteponpuppies I have said that in the past. Such a boring song at least to my ears... You should listen to Keith Merrow. He blew my fucking brain when I first found him.

  • @isteponpuppies

In the big picture it doesn't matter if it's one note or 300. If it sounds better, than it is clearly superior music.

There are thousands of combinations to choose from, But with music, I believe in quality over quantity of notes.

Besides. simply write something better, pitch it to a producer thatcan finance you, and go get 10 times as rich as them. Should be easy as pie, considering meshuggah has such bullshit music and everything. You have my full support.

  • @isteponpuppies It's not about how harmonically sound they are, it's about the rhythm. They're using the guitar as more of a percussion instrument than anything, which in a sense is still a correct use of the instrument seeing as how the guitar is always seated in the rhythm section in any formal Jazz performance.

  • @isteponpuppies

    Play it then.

  • And nice cov of course!

See kids, achieve such a level first, then put any cover online! :D

  • @WirtualnyMojzesz

apparently you haven't seen my first videos :P

  • Nice lifeline :D

  • How would you say your guitar compares to other high end 8 strings? It'd be awesome to hear the audio from this without the actual song backing track just to hear how the guitar sounds by itself.

  • @motorhead9999

I've only played three 8-strings and I own two of them so I can't really make a good comparison. All of them have been pretty different though.

  • i wonder how low u can detune an 8 string.......

  • @musicguitarlessons

You might want to check out my 'Meshuggah - Benzin (combustion remix)'-video. That may give you an idea :D

  • you make a gay boy like me horny

  • not gonna lie made me cream my self

  • Meshuggah is the one band where the guitar solo is the easiest part of the song.

  • i bet you jerk off like 73 times a day

  • @TheDailyDigest No, he gets so much pussy from that guitar he has no need for jacking off

  • what's the tuning?

  • Woow, that's incredible. Your guitar kicks ass. Awesome song, I had no idea the beginning riff was played with a slight bend. Simply amazing dude, congrats.

  • this is one of those songs where watching a cover video doesn't give you the capacity to play it

  • congrat man..can you tell me which program you use for edit your vidz..many thanks!!

  • @anhellster

    Sony Vegas

  • My hands hurt now

  • d00d that's a sick guitar!

  • don't you ever get saw hands, have they ever fallen off?

  • Wish my parents would buy me shit like that

  • @zgoodz

    Me too.

  • That hurts the wrist just watching ... great cover, though!

  • Hey man, could you tell me what you are using to get the long sustained notes at about 2:20

  • @LiamMorris1123 it's ebow.

  • @LiamMorris1123

    Ebow

  • Question: What's the tuning?

  • @Emikropz

    Half step down.

  • thumbs up if you noticed this was awesome \m/ >.< \m/

  • Comment removed

  • @Emikropz

I just used a PODxt in this video.

  • i hope you know that that guitar was crafted by the god of metal himself

  • Awesome cover, man! That Illustrated is sick!

  • Can somebody tell me the name of the tool (ahah) he uses during the bridge from 4.00 at the upper part of the screen, without telling me that I am a newb?

  • @sacha9646 it'a an ebow :)

  • The end scared the living shit out of me :D

Anyway, absolutely fantastic cover! Wish I could play like that...

  • That is a decent looking guitar ;)

  • Question. I have the C-8 Hellraiser, and I've noticed that the strings seem WAY more taught than on my 6 string Razorback Explosion. Is there any way I could make it, I guess, easier to play with looser strings, or is it a simple issue of neck length and whatnot?

  • @RADIOACTIVEBUNY

Try to put on strings with a different gauge?

  • @RADIOACTIVEBUNY The reason the neck on an 8 is so long is for tighter tension in the lower strings. If you Use lighter gauge strings for the standard 6 on your schecter, because of the length of the neck, they'll feel normal. Just mess around with strings and find what you like really, but yeah try lighter gauge if you find theres too much tension. Though I do recommend heavier strings in the lower strings, they'll sound much sharper.

  • @RADIOACTIVEBUNY Many people give out about Schecter scale lengths, they are mostly 25.5", which is pretty short to deal with range that extensive!

  • @LunarLionheart I surely hope you don't think that an 8 string Schecter has a 25.5" scale length.

  • @ferociouspokemachine I checked there, and they upped the scale to 26.5 for 8 strings. Which is still well short. And seriously, I'm not one of these people who thinks they know ron the internet, try not to sound so patronising man.

  • That inlay is awesome!! Is it a heart monitor, or something like that?

  • @MrDimebuck

Thanks. Heartbeat monitor was the idea, yes.

  • your right arm has been cramping this whole video, right?

  • What the shit is an elbow :S

  • you probably need a doctorate in math and a pilot's license just to play that damn guitar haha

  • What's the name of your inlays?

  • @CalebSmith576

    Abalone inlays?

  • @cataclysmichael Already established, but, what style I guess you would say, like EKG?

  • @CalebSmith576

I guess you can call it that.

  • How did you get all the money to get that guitar and your gear? your so luckyy !!! :D great cover to :D keep this good work up !!

  • @31mouth

Took a loan, bought stuff. Paid back loan the next couple of years.

  • WOOOOWOWWOWWW I CAN PLAY 4:34 TO 5:06 FROM THIS

except i don't have an 8 string guitar, meh.

  • one of the greatest non bearded shredders ive ever seen

  • @IKoNKaRb0N Herman li, John 5, Synyster gates

  • verry cool!!

  • 4:32 ahhhh wanker's cramp, it gets even the best of us....

  • Whats the electric thing on your strings at 2:29 ?

  • @31mouth e-bow

its all in the comments dude

    and the description >.<

  • lol thanks for that ending....

  • @Ruiner878

    You're welcome :)

  • Those are some sick inlays!

  • This is insane!

  • Dude, you're great.

Not gonna lie though, if I saw you I'd think you knew nothing about guitar and listened to hipster garbage.

  • @SpoonfullofSandrock That's because you're ignorant.

  • @SpoonfullofSandrock

    Haha. I know.

  • I love that fret board, Ace playing dude!

  • the most perfect and accurate cover ever made .

    Bravo .

which software did you use to make this clip :) ???

  • @owar47

Well. Pretty sloppy really, but turning up the original track fixed that problem, haha. I used Sony Vegas to edit the video and I don't even remember what I used to record the guitar back then. The logitech software I got with the webcam or something stupid like that, haha.

Now I use Sony Vegas + REAPER.

  • Amazing cover. Do you have original stuff?

And I'm not a noob but curious, is that some sort of midi bar/slide you have during the single note parts?

    Thx! :)

  • @Joe301GSE That's an e-bow, ace bit of kit ;D check them out.

  • @Joe301GSE

I'm working on it, but can't make anything that sound half-decent so I keep it for myself :P

The thing is called an Ebow.

  • @cataclysmichael

I ordered myself an Ebow after seeing it used on another Mushuggah cover vid. Can't wait to get it!

  • HEEEBOO THE IPHONE/DROID SUX

    -stealthtastic/mehtab

    Awesome cover btw

  • @mehtabb1

Ehm... Do I know you? :P

    Thanks man.

  • @cataclysmichael stealthtastic from MG/SS...

  • @mehtabb1

I know, was just kidding :P

  • @cataclysmichael :\

    So hurt

  • There's an app for that!

  • Perfect man, it actually looks pretty easy but I'm not so sure after the obvious wrist pain it caused haha.

  • a peace of art itself!

  • Lundgrens?

  • @musicguitarlessons

    Correct.

  • IT'S BEAUTIFUL

  • This actually looks really easy... but im guessing the strumming for the main riff is not.

  • @TheLimitOfHumanPain This is the second hardest song ive ever tried to play. look up meshuggahs song "I" thats the only harder song ive tried

  • @CapnPuff69 Okay i will. Whats the picking pattern?

  • @TheLimitOfHumanPain there really is no pattern. Thats what's so hard about it

  • @CapnPuff69 lol well there has to be. its so fast though i can hardly tell

  • In what tuning is this song? (sorry for my english xD)

  • @GiovaniNullafacenti

    Half step down.

  • what tuning is this in?

  • I attempted to cover this song... but my arm fell off

  • @IMusHRooMHeaDI funny that, happened to me as well.

  • @IMusHRooMHeaDI

    I know the feeling, haha.

  • do you write original music?

  • @kharnvelzyghur

    I try.

  • why didn't you finish it?

  • @munruthel1

    My hand was tired :P

  • what pickups do you have in this?

  • @megatallica999

Lundgren M8. Same as Meshuggah :P

  • @cataclysmichael are those made by like one dude only

  • @megatallica999

It was back in the day as far as I know. Probably not anymore as they've become quite popular.

  • 0.o can I have that room?

  • @gavn079

Sure. I have a new one now ^^,

  • until i watched this video i honestly thought the entire song was played on 1 string with no left hand involved, other than on leads.

  • thats awesome bro. nice cover and keep rockin

  • Hey dude. WHen youre doing the main triplit riff. DO you play: down-up-down-up, or down-up-down-down?

It almost seems too fast to play down-up-down-down

  • @leewollenschlaeger

    down-up-down-up
