  • good God didn't anybody know how to drive a cop car in the 80's???

  • SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I miss those old Dodge cop cars. You could wreck a dozen of them and still had plenty more to spare !

  • If i remember corectly the engine sound is a v8 from the ferrari 308.

  • The Coyote X, was not built from a Manta Montage kit car, itself a replica based on the McLaren M6GT. Like many kit cars of the time, the car uses a chassis from aVolkswagen Beetle and its engine from a Porsche 914.For the second and third seasons, producers used a different Coyote, which was based on a De Lorean DMC-12, as Brian Keith had difficulty getting in and out of the original Coyote.

  • In the late 70's early 80's there was a popularity of VW based kit cars. This was supposed to look like a really cool race car, but was really a VW underneath. in the 2nd season they took a Delorean, removed the stainless body and put a Manta kit body on it.

  • Hardcastle and McCormick, very cool. How long til netflex gets with it?

  • What Motor is in this Coyote? I remember back in 84, it sounds like a Countach

  • @SANYUR I think they over dubbed the engine sounds. Probably had a VW engine LOL

  • rockstar games should do a hardcastle and mccormick game

  • I always wanted 2 have a Coyote X toycar when I was a little kid.By Tonka. :-)

  • I'VE BEEN WATCHING WHEN I WAS A KID W/ MY DAD.

    I LUV D RETRO MUSIC BACKGROUND OF '70s & '80s. \M/

  • what i like about this car..

if u damage it and break the lights while jumping it repairs itself in less then 10 sec :)

  • who gets a chubby from this lil red wagon?

  • my favourite car since i was a little boy watching the show ... nothing fucking like it!

  • Love that car.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • I like how the headlights shatter and then magically work again.

  • Exactly the same audio as the engine sound from the black Lamborghini Countach at the beginning of Cannonball Run

  • @Astonishist

Yeah, but it sounded right for this car as well. It beat the hell out of the actual sound of a VW motor it was really powered by!

  • SWEET ASS CAR ON A SWEET ASS SHOW

  • I watched this is reruns when I was a kid...the old dude had a corvette that I loved.

  • @mengle2004

yup, hardcase had a 64 vette convertible with "D JUDGE" license plates, lol.

  • I guess the cops jurisdiction ended at the the gates... lol Not that TV is any better today, but TV of the 80 was just really fucking stupid... I mean some of the unbelievable shit they neglected to correct like the headlight thing here... and people just ate this shit up... or the turbo boost jumps of night rider with the toy model cars in the shot.. Just trips me out I guess.

  • Remember if your gonna steal a car make sure there is a handy ramp around for that final getaway...LOL. I luved this show, judge was awesome!

  • 3:05 holy shit that car is self repairing (notice front lights) that is so awesome!

  • @angelwolf333 1998 Mustang was a 4.6 overhead cam modular engine, not a 5.0 you douche. Not to mention they were dogs.

  • @ChevyTech

your right but i typed to fast now read it as a 1989

  • @ChevyTech

mistyped it oh well but after the 1987 through 1993 mustangs the body style changed along with the engine the 4.6 was shit i agree my girlfriends sister bought one new and thought it was so great. it was a dog and had no seat space at all i cant even believe a man could drive one they were so confined.

  • They changed the donor car later on. I heard it was a DeLorian, so bits of everything including Renault. A few years after this was out a fella in our street in Fife no less had one but it was black. Looked the mutts. No one ever thought it was a kit car or at least asked. Everyone thought it was some exotic such was the top draw finish on it.

  • @RT10cold like brian keith had some hard time climb in coyote?

  • I still want this car...

  • Manta Montage. I saw one on the original Gone In 60 Seconds. Spittin' image of the car you see here but with some minor differences. Have seen this since the 80s, I might add.

  • That car must be a Volkswagen underneath, they all were. Then they just dubbed-on a Ferrari engine noise like they did in Starsky and Hutch. I remember seeing a flip top Nova (a kit car) over here which looked spectacular. Then this guy got in ,started it up and there was the chug chug chug of a Beetle engine-everyone fell about!

  • @ajivins1 actually while the manta kit cars were vw's underneath .. the manta kit used for the show was built on a 911.

  • @Barron501 Probably the engine from one but on a beetle chassis I would think. the Bug was a gift to the 'alternative car' fraternity with its ditchable shell but drivable floorpan. The minus points were the handling (better on the later ones) and those awful organ-pedals! I knew a guy with a Baha bug. The first time he braked in the rain the front wheels locked and he slid into the back of the bloke in front! It braked better with a bag of sand or at least a full tank up front!

  • i was too young but i knew i could drive the hell out of that cherry red racecar

  • it´s a Mc Larren

  • @TheHeld75 Actually it's a Manta Montage, which is a kit copy of the McLaren M6.

  • It appears to me as if the cop cars were waiting just around the corner. He opened the garage door flipped a 180 and sped out, and there they were. Stupid American mid-80's TV. I can't believe I was addicted to this show as a kid. Oh well, the car was nice...

  • I went to MGM Studios at Disney World in Orlando back in 1988, and they had a Coyote X sitting there with some other cars, like the flying police car from Blade Runner. Looks as good up close as it does in the series. I always wanted to drive the Coyote X when I was a kid and watched this show. Now, as an adult, I realize I couldnt afford the gas and insurance!

  • @Zach979 Hardcastle was actually semi-retired.

  • I can't believe cars(dot)com & Entertainment Weekly had the Mystery Machine & Flintstones Rockcar in their Top 10 of the best cars on TV. They left the Coyote out of the Top 10 entirely. Biggest snub. WTF's up w/that - putting 2 cartoon cars ahead of a real life action drama speed machine like the Coyote?! WTF was so damn great about the Mystery Machine anyhow?! The Coyote was sweeet - that & Crockett's 2 Ferrari's on Miami Vice.

  • I'm sorry - I stand corrected - it was NOT Entertainment Weekly - it was rather TV Land that had the Mystery Machine & Flintstone Rockcar in their Top 10 & left out the Coyote from H&M - they & cars(dot)com both. Cars(dot)com also put Jason Lee's piece of shit car from My Name Is Earl in the Top 10 - now how in the hell can that be better than the Coyote?! Those Top 10's were a fricking joke!

  • Why at the beginning of the intro of Hardcastle and MacCormick is shown Ferrari's Veglia-Borletti model tachometer??

I apologize for my bad english.

  • Cops crashing Hazzard County style.

  • cops on tv never could drive.... I love the xploding license plate lol

still one of my fav shows as a kid

  • That is totally how I would have stolen that car.

  • How far back does this show go back I remember the guy's mullet and his partner the guy who's sea captain that catches fish to sell frozen fish sticks lol, but I recall the auto having oval headlights I still love the body of the car and the A-Team Van are the coolest wheels I would like airwolf if the copter wouldn't look so bulky

  • What is this guy a white ninja? hahaha. I loved this show back the day.

  • oh man so many flaw in thos old 80's shows...loved em when i was a kidd...

  • amazing how fast that garage door automatically rolled up in time for him to jump out of the building.

  • The Season one coyote was a different car than the second season Coyote, which was a frame and engine of a Delorean and kit. Brian Keith had major trouble getting into and out of the original coyote. It sat much lower. The original Coyote is built upon a Volkswagon chasis and a Porsche 914 engine. (So I have read) ;) I love how at the end of the clip, you see both headlamps blow, one actually comes out of the car, next view of the car, both headlights on!

  • @1badsteed All of the cars used 350 chevy engines designed for stunt work. None of them ever had Porsche or VW engines and all the sounds were dubbed in for the engine. IT was all in a big article in Hot Rod mag when the show was still in produtcion.

  • Tv always did try to make dumb criminals. You rip what you sew if you constructed it improperly. My guess is that these programs were for undermining of societies and not building intelligent criminals.A lass freedoms of the states make things so easy!

  • That'd be the day lazy cops would drop their coffee and donuts and respond THAT fast!! LOL!!

  • " we got em trapped now" haha

  • Die beste Serie von damals.

  • Not seen in this clip is when he pulled that cop from his wrecked car before it blew up. How often do you see that?

  • Thanks for posting, it's been years since i've seen this show. I remember the Coyote well though. That's the thing about shows back then, they wanted to fool the audience, making us think those TV cars were indestructible, and after jumps, it looked as if they were A-OK. LOL We all know better though, just like in Knight Rider and Dukes of Hazzard. We know what really happened to those cars after a jump, they got tore up to hell, with only a few parts salvagable.

  • @001GenLee thats the best on it^^ the :"you can`t hurt me!" feeling :)

  • Imagine this today!!! The new Britsh built McLaren $300K MP4-12C supercar that will be on sale in 2011!!!!

  • lmao i love how he busted the lights after he jumped the police car n gate, but they're miraculously okay when he does the 180° brake. lol they clearly got fcked up. ah the 80s

  • Problem with protecting your super car is you need at least one security guy with a super car who can keep up.

And did he stop to fix those headlights after that jump?

  • Ahh the 80's when cops couldent drive for sh#t and ramps were always convieniently placed :)

  • I think this robbery is the one McCormick was put in jail for in first episode.... I cant remember why/how he got to keep the car through out the series though.

  • Saw one of these cars on Ebay for $40,000 wish I had the cash

  • In this, the Coyote looks (and sounds) like a Lambo, or very similar (at back, in this clip, the exhaust looks like a countach)...

But if you look on the series, expecially on the gear's selector, it resemble very much a Ferrari (... check out the Intro...)

Like all tv series, there was a lot of prototypes, most of all made in different ways (sure cheaper for jumping scenes...)

  • The Coyote is a modified Manta Montage which is a kit car replica of the McLaren M6GT... I should know, I have one!

  • The Coyote at least in season one is a Mnata Mirage kit car with a modified nose, it was built on a VW super beetle with Porsche 914 motor and interior componets from a Ferrari 308 including seats, shifter console, and guages. season 2 and on the Coyote was built on a DMC Delorean of all cars, it retained the Ferrari interion but the drivetrain was factory DMC.

  • what city is this, the law enforcement was there in like 30 seconds!~

  • after the jump he lost the lamps and by the last 180° brake there are the front lamps back xD

  • The car was way ahed of its time

  • i love this episode too bad the series isnt on dvd

  • All 3 seasons are out on DVD check Ebay

  • You know, for a car he just committed a felony to aquire; he sure treats it like shit.

  • VERY NICE thanks for sharing trvsglr:)

  • dumbass cops! lol

  • And then, McCormick help out the cop and the next day he get arrested by the same cop.

  • it's funny how it sounds like a Ferrari even though it's a Manta kit car, which have a Chevy V8 99% of the time.

  • i'm thinking it sounds like a lamborghini, but then again they dubbed a lot of sounds back then. it sounds like the lamborghini from cannoball run but also the ferrari in national lampoon's vacation.

  • certainly was the cannonball lambo sound!

  • this was one of the greatest shows ever right along airwolf and the hulk

  • The coyote my all time fav tv car

  • @hemclan1

Volo Auto Museum in Volo, IL (not far from Chicago) has a couple of the cars from the actual TV show for sale. I think they were both stunt cars, so they're probably both jacked up (figuratively and literally). They're asking around $28,000 for them. Pick one up!

  • @hemclan1 mine too along with KITT, The General Lee, The Delorean time machine and the Viper/Defender!

  • @daltex81 we are the company who built this car and the viper defender heres are link...

unique movie cars las vegas dot com

  • Cops were doing good until that one flipped.. ROFL

  • silly rent a cops. how many clutches do you figure they burnt up on those cars? seems like he was always shifting gears

  • this one was much more a sportscar, look at the aerodynamic curves... beautiful. the second only was straight at the side and silly looking

  • agree with studmuffn. this car remnds me of a lancia stratos. anyways, great video. notice when he lands after jumping the gate, he blows his bulbs only for them to be re-ignted when he pulls up. lovely.:)

  • This car was way better than the car from season 2 and 3 of the show.

  • I remember having the hot wheels version of this car!! But darned if I remember what I did with it at that ripe age of 8!! Oh well, I guess as kids we don't always take good care of our toys.

  • I saw the coyote car on a back lot at mgm florida about ten years ago rotting away kinda sad they should give it to some one that would restore it

  • the lights went off

  • Hardcastle and McCormick I think in my view is a very cool show with lots of high speed carr chases that ruke so please give me more and DRIVE

  • I always tried to like the car, but it never really caught on with me. It was not styled right. Too funky.

  • This is the greatest show ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i guess they had left over cop cars from dukes of hazzard hahaha

  • actually all the cop shows used those ex CHP cop cars in the early 80s, and later eps featured the 1979-81 Dodge st regis's which would have come out of service around 83-84

  • if that's a real stunt in 3.11 - then that's one of the BEST car stunts ever done for a tv programme. . .landing on the driver's side like that. .

  • Incredible Car. Incredible serial :)

  • THHHHE BESTTTTTT

  • I LOVE this show a lot. I wish they made more today like this.

  • the show was pretty good, but the main theme was stellar. =)
