Oxy cylinders were in the building, also a 3 phase cable was on the ground, the building is long gone, no need to put firefighters life's in risk for a building that's already gone
To answer some of the questions, it didn't take 25 min for the fire service to get there, the station officer wasn't operating the pump, the nearest fire hydrant was 300 meters away and hosing had to be made down from it, all the man power was used in this, and the jeep was fire service, also these fire appliances carry 400 gallons not a million that was needed
@hamsterham1 well said!! these gobshites commenting on stuff they know nothing about can be very fustrating, very unfair to comment on a ten minute clip, I spent fourteen years in the retained service and can understand completely what was going on in the clip!
It would be nice to see at a minimum, 1 main jet supplemented from a hydrant, and personally I would have stopped the traffic and public from passing, just in case of gasses ( Oxy -Acetylene and Propane), i wonder what the stop message is going to be.. there must be a reason for non urgency, maybe someone has the answer..
Im an irish retained firefighter... And theres 3 bullshit things that i hate about Irelands Emergency Services....
1. People often call the Police (Gardai) before the firebrigade
2. Ambulance control centres will not alert fire services as it costs them money to get the crew out. Thats right, For a rtc Fire Services are charged. Rubbish situation. It causes some ambulance crews to walk their patient involved in the rtc to the ambulance before they collar them.
@traineespark actually any commercial premise will be billed by the local authority for the service, basically you will get charged the cost of every fire fighter/crew who attends plus 30% admin costs, the local authority will expect businesses to claim of their insurance,it can run into several thousand euro depending on how many crews attend and the time of the day!
Could someone explain what is happening at around 2:25 where a red SUV pulls up, some firemen get out, get some rolls (?) of something, put them in the truck and then leave. Is the problem lack of water. I can't see any evidence of firefigting at all, but there must be some reason.
@ecw0647 there is a huge problem in rural Ireland with insufficient water supply,as a former retained fire fighter I would safely say that the guys in the jeep are going to an open source river,or lake etc with a portable pump to pump back via the hoses to the main pump, the first appliance on scene would have emptied its water supply very quickly there is very little can be done until an alternative supply can be sourced, the real fire fighting will start when that supply gets to the main pump!
Whats the delay in getting more appliances on scene? What are DFB 'they' doing to protect the residential buildings next door? No sign of any fire fighting activity!! Garden hose would do more... Nothing to be impressed about here!
@jollyrogerupyours this is a rural town in Ireland most likely with an in sufficient main water supply ,its very difficult to fight a fire with out water! I would say that shortly after this clip they sourced an open water supply from a nearby river, lake or stream and then they real fire fighting began!
@traineespark probably enroute!! i dunno what the tanker situation is like there but def something that should be looked at in stations that cover rural areas
@jollyrogerupyours Its not DFB. They are probably holding what water they have in their tanks in case it would spread further. Rural Ireland... Additional appliances are usually 20 mins away...
Wow thats some fire. I'm a firemen in NY in the US. Intresting to see how our tools of the trade differ from one another. I'd love to come see Ireland. Great vid. Also whats the name of the song in the video?
I'm not one to talk negative about any fire service, but this is truly a disgrace

With fire services such as that, building insurance must be very high
