A horse has to go through some tests before competing things like this. One of those tests is free jumping. A competitionrider doesn't want a horse that doesn't like to jump.. That's just to much effort. Trust me, that horse wouldn't jump if it didn't want to, and it doens't jump because it gets beaten otherwise.. A horse that gets beaten gets extra scared, and wouldn't even try because of that ;)
