I have traveled the world but never in this are except on the Amazon River....This is a great video of the area . Thanks for sharing...Good luck to you...
I'm from Brazil (that is, my parents), but not from the Amazon Rainforest area. I've only been to Belem which is the east (not that there is much left in that area). Wish I could go to other areas as well where there is still some of the forest.
If you get a chance to pass by again you are very welcome to stop by and crash in my place so I can show you around. To find my town just get on Google Maps and search for Alta Floresta, Mato Grosso, Brasil.
I have also checked out your blog, great stuff. I read that you have quit your job, so are you being able to get any sponsorship to fund your trips?
Well, the amazon region has two very distinctive seasons, the dry season (no rain at all) and the wet season (it rains so much that even your bones get wet :-) ).
In the dry season you can travel at very high speeds but if you are on a motobike you gotta be very careful and be always on the look out for small animals crossing the road or disturbances on the road that may catch you by surprise not giving enough time to react and bang!!! you kiss the ground
once I hit a armadillo and I wasn't that fast, about 40 kms/h , but went straight to the ground and that hurt a lot.
For those who like a bit of adventure and dont mind getting stacked in the mud here and there, the wet season might be a bit fun also and usually the locals like to help out adventurers.
Now in regards of the months, the dry and wet season may vary depending where you are, the amazon region is freaking huge, but in general the dry season goes from feb/mar until oct/nov
