    This video also puts to rest the myth that only geared Americans cut their squats high, whilst raw Eastern Europeans go ass to ankles deep every time. At least 3-4 missed squats getting cheered on, not a single paused bench, and at least four hitched deadlifts.

    If this was an American video we'd be getting treated to dozens of comments about the mockery Americans supposedly make of strength sports, even when we go raw.

  • guys chillout, looks like these european guys are doing a powerlifting meet coming from an olympic weightlifting background (hence the bumper plates and the back squat form) they break at the hips first and go past parallel or below it, just because its not an international style deadlift (sumo), some guys were doing the deadlift the classic and proper way, no mix grip, no sumo, olympic weightlifting is far more popular in eastern europe than powerlifting keep that in mind

  • A squat is supposed to be no lower than necessary to get your knees at about a 90 degree angle, all while maintaining an arched back, with your butt out.

    With the exception of one lift, they all accomplished this.

    I did not see any technique deficits on the bench. Your elbows are supposed to be at 90 degrees as they pass your shoulders on the way down, but you are supposed to touch your chest.

    As for general "unsteadiness" during the lifts, you try lifting 400+ pounds while remaining steady.

  • most of the lifts on the bench and deadlift would not have counted...... moving of the feet should be a red light... on the deadlift when they are pulling for the lockout they cant stop half way and try to jerk it up and they cant also just drop on the floor.... unless this is a new powerlifting federation then i dont see how they got those lifts at all..

  • Yes it is. If you "get the weight up" but don't get depth on squats the lift is no good. If you hitch while deadlifting, the lift's no good. If you bench with elbows flared out, you WILL eventually hurt your shoulders. Powerlifting is EVERYTHING about form.

    Pro bodybuilders are way stronger than all of these guys in this video and they are not doing powerlifting and the pro powerlifters and strongmen are huge also.

  • Yes, they're called stregth athletes. Strength and size have very little to do with each other. The average person can more than double their stregth without gaining an ounce of muscle due to nueral adaptions.
