While watching this movie last night, I knew I've seen it, until I've realized I've seen the Singaporean version when I was in Singapore 5 years or so ago. I love this original Iranian movie. So simple yet so powerful. I haven't seen such a beautiful story. I am trying to find the perfect word to describe it but I failed.

No hollywood actor could act better than that boy and girl in the movie, really moving.

it has to be one of the top 3 movies i have ever seen. and it cud have only lost to 'life is beautiful' the story so simple, executed in a marvelous way. this is what i equate greatness of cinema too. the actors (esp children !) were amazing. when ever i saw tears filling ali's eyes, i felt blessed for every pair of shoes i have ever owned and remembered the ones i did not wear coz i did not like their color!!!truly awesome.

As an American, I just want to say - I saw my first film out of Iran in 1998 called Leila - that was so good that I stayed in the Iranian film section of my video store and saw many films one of which was Children of Heaven. This film is so close to my heart. what I've noticed in the films out of Iran are examples of the most poetic, beauty, and kindness & love in the face of adversity.

Particularly in filmsfrom Majid Majidi who also directed another favorite called The Color of Paradise.

I live in Guadalajara Mexico and Ive watched this movie over 5 times just because it reminds me of my childhood. thank god things are diffrent for me. The sadest part of the movie was when they told Ali he had won first place. No shoes for his little sister Sarah. the happiest moment was when his father was so so happy that by cutting trees he would be able to buy better things for his family
