thank you so much, youve helped me alot more. iv been stuck creating songs for a while and never known any theory n iv been playing for over 3 years :/ so thank you for helping my knowledge.
good lesson. just a tip from one teacher to another. You're using the term octave incorrectly. What you mean to say is semi-tone. An octave is eight full tones away
i really like the way you teach the chords, but the only time i got lost was when you did that practice thing with the d minor chord. how did you do that?
I have a really hard time with bar chords because, well, my left hand is kind of weak. Can you give me some advice to help gain some strength in my hand to make bar chords easier to play?
@KidDeloreanProd for the d minor chord when i play it the high strings (1 and 2) don't play because I am technically muting them but when u played it u could hear it how come? HELP PLEASE!!!
@mary1548gata No such things as "The Best Guitar Pick" all picks are made from the same material either Plastic, Metal, sometime Thin Cardboard but worst choice but good if you want to get a lot of pick very cheap but expect wasting money so just buy any Plastic Or Metal Picks only.
I have trouble baring an entire fret, maybe my fingers are to short? when I bar the fret i have a hard time placing my other fingers correctly, any information that can help me? I will keep practicing.
I've gotten the hang of it, keep practicing and your fingers will get stronger and you can do it with less effort and your fingers won't feel like there being cut anymore.
i know you said GCD bar chords but is it GCD major bar chords or GCD minor bar chords. and you didnt teach us how to play both D bar chords.
thats all i dont get. for all the other chords, your a really good teacher. this is the best video about chords i have seen on youtube. & its so easy to get. but i cant do it yet.:]
Hi, one the first video it is an open G major chord and on the second video it is an barr G major chord. You can play it both ways and it will still sound the same.
ok should it sound different if you're using an electric guitar? I'm using my dads-without the amp- until I can get an acoustic...so everything sounds weird, am I doing it wrong?
Could an index finger injury from years ago be the reason I can't play bar chords well? Because when I play a minor chord like 5-7-7-*5*-5-5, the starred 5 is very difficult to make a sound from.
bignirmal, don't give upon those pesky bar chords, one day they will come if you practise, I promise. Try playing them on the 5th string when your hand and forearm are in a straight line. And you do not need half the pressure you may think, its a technique that you will work out. If a great ammount of pressure was needed you would not be able to play for long periods at a time, which is not true.
i shall continue learning and practicing. i was having problems because of my index finger is a little out of shape due to s sport accident lol but thanks again buddy
Sorry I meant the 5th fret. Your hand and arm are twisted when playing on the 1st fret. I remember the first time I played the 'F' chord properly, I had to have my fingers surgically removed from the fretboard I was so pleased with my little self I wouldn't let go.
no its normal for beginners. just keep jammin man and your fingers will get stronger. also, if you have one of those squishy stress balls just practice squeezing it like you would the neck of your guitar and youll get em stronger =)
it's month since i'm learning from your vids and it realy helps, but you have to put some instruction how to use Tabs or something. It was hard to learn by myself.
Man, You are awesome. I have browsed more than 20 videos for beginners, even I found some more videos which are helpful. But I want to rate yours as the best for beginners. You are awesome. But I suggest to take some 1 or 2 classes and start this video....
is it supposed to be harder to push the frets down on an older model guitar because i press the barre chord as firmly as i can and it is always muffled?!
keep trying... when I first started I couldnt do it either...but after keeping at it a couple of weeks.. I can do pretty much any bar now... you'll get it!
how do you switch from barre chord to open chord with an echoe effect. open chors naturally have echo but when you take your fingers of barr chord, they mute
These first two beginner videos are some of the clearest instructions I have ever seen for anything, much less guitar. You repeat as needed. I also like the way you assume we are true beginners, but not that we're stupid.

wait i'm confussed..... so there are 2 c major chords one u showed us in ur last vid and the one u showed us in this vid?? and there are 2 g chords???
hello there....you are correct, there are two C major chords. One in bar form and one in major form. In the first video, I give you the C Major in the simplest form. Bar chords are a little harder and require you to strengthen your fingers so you can play them easier. In this video, the C Major chord is barred...same with the G. Does that clear up the confusion?
Thats right. There is many "voicings" of every chord, not just two. For example, as long as you only play the notes C E and G, its a C major chord. The videos show the basic, easier voicings of these chords.
