  • Outstanding instructor! Please make more videos!

  • Thanks for saving me years of mistakes. Learned so much so quick. Can't wait to practice some of this stuff. Keep on teaching!!!!!

  • Nice videos! Thank's man!

  • Great video, I appreciate the class. Live long and prosper :)

  • I had no idea how simple all of this was. Thanks.

  • I agree with others here, these are a great series of videos. I have no formal training in metal work and have been metal working using my woodworking experience for 2 years now - and am surprised at what I did not know and have learnt. For example, to not saw a hacksaw in both directions.

A question, in woodworking the Japanese pull instead of push when sawing, have you considered reversing the teeth-direction of a hacksaw blade? Would this be a more stable way to cut? Thanks!

  • just awsome tricks your great ! what a pro!

  • Top notch even on safety issues, people tend to forget the safety side; hence the fires and accidents! Kudos........Encore!

  • Thanks again for taking your time i hope you kip making great video just like this one.

  • why does this guy not just use a grinder with a zip disk on it ...it would be so much faster.

  • "A durn good joint" . . . I am actually going to be using this phrase from now on. .

  • Agreed. Its clear youve been instructing for quite some time and it shows. If you happen to read these comments you should use them as references to forward your career. Thanks for your knowledge and efforts in making this film.

  • I thought I was done watching youtube. It's all your fault. Now I must return and watch ALL of your videos.

  • great

  • i have learnt so much of you nice videos!

  • You are the Bob Ross of metal work. I've watched and taken notes from every video you've done.

  • If he says 'orientate' one more time I'm going to krazy glue his nostrils shut.

  • @nelsonhays

'Oreintated' sounds darn odd to me too, but I looked it up and it is a word!

  • Thanks for the video. If Schools like UCI and UCLA etc spent more time developing good students in these kinds of skills we would not be importing so much from other countries. Unfortunately industrial/manufacturing fields of study do not get the attention they deserve.

  • I want to perform a model of bicycle chopper but i do not have all the techniques in order to make the unions of the tubes of the table i could advise i measures carried out an experimental model but i think i can improve quite interesting as it is called the instrument for the stripes of the foil greetings from mexico

  • like what you teach lots of help and teachings keep it up mr smitty your welding buddy in CA

  • Seems like a great series.

Just please!!! mount your bench grinder to a more secure stand. It is going to wobble and fall, shatter your grinding wheels and possibly kill someone.

Also, get a small music stand or something and paint it white. Then you will have a nice background to present your parts in front of instead of trying to hold the file folder on your chest as you show us the parts.

    cheer!!!

  • The school needs to buy some decent tools. Harbor Freight, and the cheapest tools possible just dont cut it. How about a decent work bench! But this is a awesome series, great job.

  • @robknasel harbour freight rules great tools @ even greater prices......

  • Great job Bob, Unlike so many other videos, you cover all that is important,in detail. I would have loved having you for my metal shop teacher.

  • There's always some knob/ douchebag out there who wants to criticize other people's efforts and output but they never have a crack at it themselves, do they?! No, 'cos they full of SH%*. Ive been teaching for 20 years and these videos are absolutely brilliant. The man is articulate, accurate, knowledgable and above all SAFE!.

  • they realy need to bolt down that little table

  • @singlespeedyoda i agree, was thinking the same. this guy makes you wana go out, buy a mig and a bunch of random metal and start making shit!

  • i was wearing safety glasses while someone else was grinding and a piece of metal bounced of the inside lens and hit me in the eye.i took a magnet and removed the piece of metal no emergency room for me

  • you great l love watch your lesson great thank you

  • Wise words; great vid.

  • top video

    very professional

  • eazzzzey....nothing to it...

thanks for the great information, i'm looking into picking up a mig welder and do some minor metal fab for my 4x4 thank you

  • Nice video.

    Very professional.

  • good vid which teaches the basics, but when it comes to safety, i do have a problem with the small bench and also the grinder which tends to be very unstable. I know i'm fishing here, but it is a teaching vid, so ...

  • Thx for posting these. I have been welding for 25 yrs. I am a forensic psych by profession but I do build off road cars and weld regularly. I was never really trained on a mig. It was very easy to pick up after arc but it is nice to refresh on the basics and I did pick up a few tips. I found I got sloppy with the basics over time. Again, thx for the effort you put into these videos, it was very informative.

  • Maybe after demonstrating the need for a proper work bench, you should switch to one.. instead of continuing to struggle with that little chair or whatever it is that keeps scooting around.

  • thats filler metal not a brazing rod

  • thats not how its done in the real world

  • Yeah whoever he is he is, he really knows wat he doing. It's worth listening to the other ones he's made. And theyre not jut 2mins long either POST MORE. BEST ON YOUTUBE

  • This series has been awesome! Who is this guy, I want more.

  • @hanklynch

    robert smitty smith

  • Didnt see this video-I have to admit...I was slightly worried after the first two! but very informative!-just a little monotone. Some passion always aids in learning!-especially in a professional learning environment!

  • @Jeenyus1983

May I suggest you are simply not hearing the passion this instructor has, he is in fact very passionate about welding. It seems to me it is probably a main reason for making this videos. Isn't it great how we all hear differently!

  • good video,as always perfect teacher,thanks

  • Good stuff. Thanks for posting.
