  • I love the little indirect sex puns in these scenes. LOL

  • This original is far better than the remake. I have to agree with you, it's rare when a classic movie is remade to be as good as the original. Hayley was a wonderful actress. I've seen her on several other movies. Especially British ones. And Maureen.... well, she's just one of my all time favorite classic actresses -- a combination of beauty, elegance, and spitfire sass.

  • I never tire of this movie, I watched it for the millionth time two nights ago. If I had to pick, this would be my favorite scene. But the whole movie is splendid!

  • I love this one. It brings me to tears even today. Thanks.

  • Maureen O'Hara and Brian Keith really had great chemistry - fiery Irish personalities! They costarred together the following year in the Western "The Deadly Companions".

  • LOL> Makes me laugh everytime :)

  • Incomparable, there is no question in the quality of acting & story telling in the original version. I do own the re-make & like it but you can't really compare the two because they are miles apart in so many ways. They changed quite a bit in the re-make, however I did like the little tributes they did throughout the movie to Maureen O'Hara.

Also, lets face it there is no one like Maureen O'Hara, God broke the mold when he made Maureen!

  • @Sam7svu, I've watched both versions and never really noticed any tributes to Maureen O'Hara (maybe I'm just really unobservant), although the children do have red hair in the remake. Do you think you could point out some specifics? It's been a while since I saw both in their entirety. Thank you!

  • @Litebulb777 In the 1998 version the fencing scene where one twin falls into the water trough, the other lends a hand to help her out & the other pulls her in. Similar scene from Maureen's fall into the water trough in "McLintock". Also another that was pointed out was the camp counselor gets molasses dumped on her & then covered in feathers, similar to another scene of Maureen's from "McLintock!". :)

  • @Sam7svu, Thanks! I've seen "McLintock!" a couple of times before but never made the connection. I think I'll watch "McLintock!" again now! :)

  • @Litebulb777 Glad to be of help. I didn't make the connection at first but once I read it on her website it made more sense! :) Love "McLintock!", fun movie.

  • As cute as the story is, it's a really weird idea to not even let your kids know that they have a sibling.

  • Become a fan of Hayley Mills on Facebook! :-)

  • 4:14 makes me laugh out loud EVERY TIME! god i love maureen shes so funny!

  • What I always loved about this clip was that Maureen O'Hara just couldn't keep that Irish lilt from slipping out a little bit. Awesome. Thanks for posting this!

  • Maureen is amazing in this movie!

  • haha love this movie

  • great movie too bad most good movies stopped after the early 90s

  • *sigh* truly love this movie....such a classic....if only they mad movies like this today....

  • Made*

  • aww what a shame ...only a few clips of the movie :( can someone put up the whole movie ..please:( I love u..lol

  • Oh I adored this movie! I grew up watching it all the time...

  • i just luv this movie

  • Brillant Muareen - i couldnt love her more - shes so hilarous!

  • Maureen .... classy beyond all, sexy, sweet, sassy, beautiful... they dont have stars of her caliber anymore

  • amen to that!

  • i luv maureen o'hara n this movie!! she's just funny

  • I own both versions, though I've only watched the LiLo version once. I prefer this one over the other because it has (in my opinion) better acting quality, and in my mind you can't remake a classic. It's just not the same. I do love Natasha Richardson though, may she rest in peace.

  • I never really cared for the new one, I grew up watching the older version and the new version and i always went to the older one... I didn't mind Natasha Richardson (may she RIP) but I thought Maureen was better and i am not just saying that because I'm a fan of her, I didn't know 'of " Maureen when I was kid, just the movie and she was my favorite character in the parent trap... so My vote goes the older onem, though the new one was not horrible it was just watchable

  • You know, I think it's true that the first version you see, independent of the actual chronology, is your favorite. Like, when Alient Ant Farm or some American Idol kid does a Michael Jackson song, I'm like: "WTF?! Okay, but *NOT* as good"

... yet I prefer Faith Hill's "Take a little pice of my heart" to Janis Joplin's. I guess it's what I grew up loving.

So we can argue the merits of each till Kingdom Come; we'll always love our own... I think we agree they're both fantastic, tho :)

  • @escucha1797, Maybe the parents have more alone time because in this one the twins are thirteen, almost fourteen, and in the remake they're 11. Teenagers would be more independent than 11 year olds. The time it was made may have something to do with it as well. Who knows? Maybe children were more independent in the '60's, especially in these situations.

  • I love this movie 8D

  • Haha, love this clip. Maureen O'Hara is so funny!
