Hi. Good experiment. I was wondering, are you using a mesh at the heated end of the tube? Also, is the sound sustainable or does it de-tune and stop after a period?
Yes, there are two copper mesh layers on both sides of the stack. I am not sure if they are important since most heat (I believe) is added and rejected over tube surfaces. The engine can run long time. We tested it for 15 min and stopped supplying heat.

There is a ceramic part that holds the stack. We use fine steel wool and RVC as the stack.
