In Jesus Ministry he didnt pay a tithe and in his lifetime didnt receive a tithe. Infact tithing today is a sin as we are not from the tribe of levites, so these churchs worldwide are doing more harm by twisting God word into man made rules Matthew 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Every pastor teaching this doctrine of the devil will miss the rapture! and sadly EVERYONE who follows this doctrine will also.
Nehemiah 13:5 Tithe only to be paid to the tribe of Levites so since we are NOT levites we dont pay tithes. Jesus didnt receive a tithe or pay tithes as he wassnt a levite but a jew Matthew 1:3 as he was from the tribe of Judah. thank you bro- I am a person of giving, so when a pastor exercises his authority behind the pulpit using bible scripture such as Malachi, i give. i fell into this manipulation and was confused until now. I stop giving tithe about 2 months ago, not because i struggle financially nor because i was greedy. I stop because I see that I've been manipulated and scammed. Giving shouldn't be based on fear or guilt, nor because you're expecting something in return. Giving should be done cheerfully.

Unfortunately there are pastors out here who scoff at the notion of giving to others in lieu of tithing to them. If you tell them you would rather help people than help pay for some building they will call you disobedient and rebellious among other things. When I see a pastor who has a problem with people helping others red flags go up.

Christians need to realize tithing to Levites was set up as their inheritance since they were not given land, for their up keep & that a tenth of the tenth is used for sacrifical & other offerings in the Temple to GOD. People were still suppose to help any strangers or those in need if they could, also suppose to leave some food n fields for poor to glean(food to eat). The biggest hoax is people believing the bible has authority from God over their lives. The bible is only history, it is not the world of God to us today. Jesus fulfilled the and the scriptures, died on the cross, was resurrected and then sent back the Holy Ghost to lead us by. There was a famine going on, Paul, asked these brethren to help those in Jerusalem. Our concept of the church is wrong, the original church met in each others houses, no need for offerings.
Why is mal. 3-10 always misquoted? He does not say bring the whole tithe. He says bring all the tithes. "whole" can have different meanings and misconstrue the meaning of the scripture. All the tithes means the levites were withholding tithes for themselves and not sharing with the poor and needy.

It is convient that tithing really became a teaching around the time of the religious awakenings of the early 1800's could it be that more churchs were popping up than could be sustained through freewill offerings and leaders needed to find inventive ways to raise funds?
The real danger of prosperity gospel lies in the fact that offering with the expectation of repayment removes the giving aspect. That is commerce not giving. So i would suggest that more damage is done from prosperity giving than even tithing because you are trying to purchase favor. Seek the LORD and give everything to him, then seek his guidance in your weekly offering.
I fell for the "sow a seed" scam too! I used to tithe passionately for over 10 years and there was NO cup overflowth blessing! Some pastors will use the "anointing agreement" and "sow $100 by the end of the month" and blessings of overflow will come! LIE!! They twist scripture selling cloud 9 dreams! You give because your hearts leads to to give to those in need! But these mega churches twisting the Gospel for $ is the reason many are not reaping a harvest!
But sadly even on the sabbath rest day i have to provide offering for the church wen Paul even said ("lay aside on the first day of the week") but not in my church, they said if they didn't collect during sabbath divine worship time they cannot trust their members to pay up. So what does that say about that so called body of Christ that its members cannot be trusted with money that belongs to God, Mal 3:8-11? I find it so stange that No one uses the scripture verse Matthew10:8-20 rightly dividing the word of 1Corinthians9:13-14, luke11:9, Galations6:4-7. The New Covenant is called Grace and it began after Jesus said It is finished as in Paid in full. If you people want to tithe the right way then pay it in food and animal sacrifices. TIthes were paid in food and animal sacrifices under the Old Covenant. God never asked for the golden calf. After Jesus died there is no command to keep the law for favor from God. the devour was the drought, to open the window of Heaven means that it was going to finally rain. just look at Gen 7:11-12 & Gen 8:2 it uses the same term in regards to rain. who is God addressing in Malachi? the priests. tithing was part of the Mosaic law to Israel, it is not for Gentile Christians. Paul confirms this in Acts 15.

been there, done that, got the T-Shirt. We were so manipulated, my wife sold her Christmas ear rings just to pay tithes. We even put tithes on credit cards just to stay blessed. (don't know how we could've missed the blessings?) When it came to groceries or tithes, we chose tithes, or doubled up the next week if it wasn't in the bank.

I went to talk to my Catholic priest a few weeks ago. Before I got to tell him why I was there, he started to tell me that I had to give Tithing to God. Well this priest drives alone in a beautiful LINCOLN TOWN CAR. You can buy two nice cars for the price of one of those. The Pope has over a billion dollars in cash. He has his own city, and his own army. Many religious people talk about the poor, homeless and hungry, yet all I see them doing is take, take, take from these people. It's sad.

Thank you so much. My husband has been the bread winner in our family (we have raised five children). I have always stayed at home as we felt the Lord directed. The church has pressured us to give 10% of our gross income. Many times we lacked groceries because we gave it to the church. We ended up in financial trouble. I have particularly felt so condemned when we couldn't give a tithe. We were told that we wouldn't be under God's covering.

Exactly. The Biblical Tithe did not go to fund the Church. It was food to provide for those who could not support themselves: Levites and Priests, the poor, widows and orphans, and the aliens among them.
When Churches say the Tithe is money, that you need to give money to get money, and the Churches need your money, they say things that are not in the Bible. When Churches use Malachi 3, they chain Christians to the Law, and deny us from Spirit-led giving under grace.
@Nephtali1981 yeah, the poor woman! God has provided even in miraculous ways for my family, and we don't give 10%, but I have no problems giving to poor or even giving at the church under that understanding. If there's nothing to give though, what does God expect?
God wants us to let other people (the lost, religious, atheist etc) know about him, why he came on earth and what is our purpose, to live forever in Glory and joy with HIM our LORD, FATHER, CREATOR, REDEEMER, SAVIOR AND HEALER in Heaven. The main message of Jesus was never about being rich or to have the best ect but about Salvation being kind, loving towards each other especially the ones that hates us (which is incredibly hard to do) JESUS wants us to win souls 4 his kingdom :)

But the part I don't understand is at 7:20 you say that if the Levite priests were robing God by taking some of the tithes for themselves. Why does it say the whole nation is under a curse if just the Levite priests were robing God?

The text seems to imply that the whole nation was not tithing.
If your patore uses malachi 3, wait a week or two. Ask them if they believe in curses. My experience has been that they want you to believe if you don't give them a tithe you will be cursed, but, if you ask them, they will tell you they don't believe in the curses. Try it for yourself and see the circular untruth.
You see, the curses are from the law and the not following of it. You cant say that jesus did away with the law and then say you will be cursed if you don't follow the tithing law. Who is malachi addressed to? The Pastors (read for yourself-it is clearly written). You can tithe to family members or others in need. Just pray over the money as a tithe to God then give it to them in a way that it isn't for show. God will honor this type of tithing.
This book is not about money! God had a system in place of atonement. This had very strict guidelines in what and how it was to be done. Malachi is to the Priests that polluted that system and hence made it impossible for the people to be atoned for. It isn't money that they are robbing God of, but the very way that was supposed to atone for his covenant people. You may see this if you re-read the whole 4 chapters again. Amazing. Then 400 or so years later an un-polutable sacrifice was made
When people rationalize that money did not exist during the days of the old covenant, they are lying.

The prosperity preachers have have indeed have left a bitter taste in many peoples mouths because they teach these things for their own profit,as Paul said they want to make merchandise out of you. A good question to ask ones self is this person promoting their ministry of the kindgom of GOD.GOD is not the game show host of lets make a deal.But JESUS said if you seek the kingdom of GOD ,All these things shall be added unto you.

Tithing was old news when the Levitical priesthood was created; check out Hebrews ch 7. Now that Christ is our High Priest, we have a new priesthood! Does Paul compare the Melchizedek priesthood with Christ's priesthood, and specifically mention tithing?
What most pastors do today with tithing, is no different than what the papacy did with scaring people into paying indulgences to build their cathedrals during the 16th century. Boy! After reading some of the comments on here, these pastors have done a very good job scaring the faithful into paying tithes in this century as well.
The Levites were the priests of their time. They needed support because it was their role to work full time as ministers of God's people. So it is the same today, we need to support those who have dedicated their lives to minister to God's people.
We need to use discretion in giving because there are many wolves in sheep's clothing. But if someone has dedicated his life to preaching the gospel and we are benefiting from his work but won't help him financially, then we are guilty of sin.
G-d's Word says that we are to pay tithes & offerings and He NEVER changes.
Why is it that people don't get the deliverance they seek from G-d? Mal. 3:10-11 says if you pay tithes & offerings, He will rebuke the devourer. G-d is a G-d of order -if He says it, then do it. He will bless you with the deliverance you are seeking. If you don't follow G-d's will, then you're not living by faith, trusting Him to take care of you through all things. Good works are faith in action.

I'm so glad people eyes are being opened. I believe in free will offering. I don't mind helping the churches that are bringing souls to Christ by preaching the truth. Souls need to be saved. Preachers that always preach on blessing and giving and don't said anything about salvation is wrong. You not going to heaven on how much you give in church. You have to follow what the church did from the day of pentecost until now.

I know this one man, his name is Bruno. Tithing is biblical, turning into money as well (Deut 14:25) Jesus told the Pharisees they ought to tithe (Luke 11:42) Abraham did it to his high priest. Jesus told us that the law is still the honourable holy way (Matth 5:19) God is not interested if we don't do it out of love. I think it is still honourable to do it, as well as keeping the sabbath. Not for salvation, but it will still bring blessings and eternal rewards.
Since we are not under the law we indeed don't have to, but the law is still a guideline to go by. We get to tithe, because we are so thankful for what our Lord has done for us, out of love. Tithing won't make us righteous but righteous people love to tithe and offer knowing that it contributes to expanding the Kingdom and being a blessing to others, since it is a more blessed to give than to receive. God looks at the heart, as long as you worship Him in spirit and truth, and his word is truth!
Whole Christianity is in error. We neglect the law which is very unwise. We read Paul's letters from a wordly mindset. The law is still holy. Sin is still transgression of the law. Unless you want to be called least in the Kingdom. The saints keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus. I dont think whole christianiy is in error.... Remember, the law cannot justify us. I believe both Law and Grace go hand in hand. The law exposes our sins and the grace covers them. Romans 3:23-25 talks about how Christ justifies us with his grace. Law cannot justify anyone bec. no one can live up to it, however it does expose how sinful we are and how much we need Jesus Christ to save us and he has paid the price for us all, if we accept his free gift of salvation.
You are absolutely right. The law adds nothing to our salvation, but organized Christianity totally neglects the law and is in hopeless error through following the traditions of man, instead of the commandments of God. Christmas and birthday celebrations are pagan, as well the Christmas tree. Sunday is not the Lord's day. Traditions make the word to none effect. Pastors and churches do not feed their flock and are in the prophecized apostate lukewarm condition. Sad but true!

Nehemiah 13:5 Tithe only to be paid to the tribe of Levites so since we are NOT levites we dont pay tithes. Jesus didnt receive a tithe or pay tithes as he wassnt a levite but a jew Matthew 1:3 as he was from the tribe of Judah. thank you bro- I am a person of giving, so when a pastor exercises his authority behind the pulpit using bible scripture such as Malachi, i give. i fell into this manipulation and was confused until now. I stop giving tithe about 2 months ago, not because i struggle financially nor because i was greedy. I stop because I see that I've been manipulated and scammed. Giving shouldn't be based on fear or guilt, nor because you're expecting something in return. Giving should be done cheerfully.

Unfortunately there are pastors out here who scoff at the notion of giving to others in lieu of tithing to them. If you tell them you would rather help people than help pay for some building they will call you disobedient and rebellious among other things. When I see a pastor who has a problem with people helping others red flags go up.

Christians need to realize tithing to Levites was set up as their inheritance since they were not given land, for their up keep & that a tenth of the tenth is used for sacrifical & other offerings in the Temple to GOD. People were still suppose to help any strangers or those in need if they could, also suppose to leave some food n fields for poor to glean(food to eat). The biggest hoax is people believing the bible has authority from God over their lives. The bible is only history, it is not the world of God to us today. Jesus fulfilled the and the scriptures, died on the cross, was resurrected and then sent back the Holy Ghost to lead us by. Why is mal. 3-10 always misquoted? He does not say bring the whole tithe. He says bring all the tithes. "whole" can have different meanings and misconstrue the meaning of the scripture. All the tithes means the levites were withholding tithes for themselves and not sharing with the poor and needy.

The real danger of prosperity gospel lies in the fact that offering with the expectation of repayment removes the giving aspect. That is commerce not giving. So i would suggest that more damage is done from prosperity giving than even tithing because you are trying to purchase favor. Seek the LORD and give everything to him, then seek his guidance in your weekly offering.

I fell for the "sow a seed" scam too! I used to tithe passionately for over 10 years and there was NO cup overflowth blessing! Some pastors will use the "anointing agreement" and "sow $100 by the end of the month" and blessings of overflow will come! LIE!! They twist scripture selling cloud 9 dreams! But sadly even on the sabbath rest day i have to provide offering for the church wen Paul even said ("lay aside on the first day of the week") but not in my church, they said if they didn't collect during sabbath divine worship time they cannot trust their members to pay up. I find it so stange that No one uses the scripture verse Matthew10:8-20 rightly dividing the word of 1Corinthians9:13-14, luke11:9, Galations6:4-7. Tithing was never money& we in Christ are now the Temple of Christ a royal priesthood, so if we don't pay tithes are we robbing ourselves? Since when are we now Levites when the sacrificial system through Christs Sacrifice on the cross is abolished? TIthes were paid in food and animal sacrifices under the Old Covenant. God never asked for the golden calf. After Jesus died there is no command to keep the law for favor from God. There is no way Christians can be redeemed from the curse of the law and cursed at the same time. Let God be true every man a liar if says otherwise1 I say Give not pay. Jesus died and did the paying!

the devour was the drought, to open the window of Heaven means that it was going to finally rain. just look at Gen 7:11-12 & Gen 8:2 it uses the same term in regards to rain. who is God addressing in Malachi? the priests. tithing was part of the Mosaic law to Israel, it is not for Gentile Christians. Paul confirms this in Acts 15.

been there, done that, got the T-Shirt. We were so manipulated, my wife sold her Christmas ear rings just to pay tithes. We even put tithes on credit cards just to stay blessed. (don't know how we could've missed the blessings?) When it came to groceries or tithes, we chose tithes, or doubled up the next week if it wasn't in the bank.
Good video. After two years of being free from legalistic giving, we're still struggling because our finances were nearly ruined because of these wolves.

Deut14:22-28 the Israelites were told by God to take their tithes (food) w them to a place on a hill that He had chosen for them but if their tithes were too much to carry the distance they could trade their tithes for MONEY & when they got to the place He had chosen to buy food and drink and to eat and rejoice in His presence So even in that instance they had MONEY but and God told them to trade it so money was not the issue Tithing is OT for Judah Christ has made a better covenant Heb7:18-22

If the church is the body of believers and we are all priests then why do the clergy (ie; pastors) tell other priests (ie; laity) to give THEM money? I went to talk to my Catholic priest a few weeks ago. Before I got to tell him why I was there, he started to tell me that I had to give Tithing to God. Well this priest drives alone in a beautiful LINCOLN TOWN CAR. You can buy two nice cars for the price of one of those. The Pope has over a billion dollars in cash. He has his own city, and his own army. Many religious people talk about the poor, homeless and hungry, yet all I see them doing is take, take, take from these people. It's sad.

2 answer the question about tithing I think we need to look at whether the institutions we call church is actually what God has prescribed, if you look in the word there are no blueprints to actually follow. Thank you so much. My husband has been the bread winner in our family (we have raised five children). I have always stayed at home as we felt the Lord directed. The church has pressured us to give 10% of our gross income. Many times we lacked groceries because we gave it to the church. We ended up in financial trouble. I have particularly felt so condemned when we couldn't give a tithe. We were told that we wouldn't be under God's covering.

Exactly. The Biblical Tithe did not go to fund the Church. It was food to provide for those who could not support themselves: Levites and Priests, the poor, widows and orphans, and the aliens among them.
When Churches say the Tithe is money, that you need to give money to get money, and the Churches need your money, they say things that are not in the Bible. When Churches use Malachi 3, they chain Christians to the Law, and deny us from Spirit-led giving under grace.

The main message of Jesus was never about being rich or to have the best ect but about Salvation being kind, loving towards each other especially the ones that hates us (which is incredibly hard to do) JESUS wants us to win souls 4 his kingdom :)

But the part I don't understand is at 7:20 you say that if the Levite priests were robing God by taking some of the tithes for themselves. Why does it say the whole nation is under a curse if just the Levite priests were robing God?

The text seems to imply that the whole nation was not tithing.

If your patore uses malachi 3, wait a week or two. Ask them if they believe in curses. My experience has been that they want you to believe if you don't give them a tithe you will be cursed, but, if you ask them, they will tell you they don't believe in the curses. Try it for yourself and see the circular untruth.

You see, the curses are from the law and the not following of it. You cant say that jesus did away with the law and then say you will be cursed if you don't follow the tithing law. Who is malachi addressed to? The Pastors (read for yourself-it is clearly written). You can tithe to family members or others in need. Just pray over the money as a tithe to God then give it to them in a way that it isn't for show. God will honor this type of tithing.

This book is not about money! God had a system in place of atonement. This had very strict guidelines in what and how it was to be done. Malachi is to the Priests that polluted that system and hence made it impossible for the people to be atoned for. It isn't money that they are robbing God of, but the very way that was supposed to atone for his covenant people. You may see this if you re-read the whole 4 chapters again. Amazing. Then 400 or so years later an un-polutable sacrifice was made

Tithing was old news when the Levitical priesthood was created; check out Hebrews ch 7. Now that Christ is our High Priest, we have a new priesthood! Does Paul compare the Melchizedek priesthood with Christ's priesthood, and specifically mention tithing?

I agree in that many unscrupulous ministers use God's word for their own financial gain. They will receive their reward.
However, that others misuse the Word for their own personal gain does not make void God's teaching about this!
Malachi 3 is a prophesy about Jesus' first and second coming, God's admonition to His people to return to Him in preparation.

What most pastors do today with tithing, is no different than what the papacy did with scaring people into paying indulgences to build their cathedrals during the 16th century. Boy! After reading some of the comments on here, these pastors have done a very good job scaring the faithful into paying tithes in this century as well.

The Levites were the priests of their time. They needed support because it was their role to work full time as ministers of God's people. So it is the same today, we need to support those who have dedicated their lives to minister to God's people.
We need to use discretion in giving because there are many wolves in sheep's clothing. But if someone has dedicated his life to preaching the gospel and we are benefiting from his work but won't help him financially, then we are guilty of sin.

G-d's Word says that we are to pay tithes & offerings and He NEVER changes.
Why is it that people don't get the deliverance they seek from G-d? Mal. 3:10-11 says if you pay tithes & offerings, He will rebuke the devourer. G-d is a G-d of order -if He says it, then do it. He will bless you with the deliverance you are seeking. If you don't follow G-d's will, then you're not living by faith, trusting Him to take care of you through all things. Good works are faith in action.

I'm so glad people eyes are being opened. I believe in free will offering. I don't mind helping the churches that are bringing souls to Christ by preaching the truth. Souls need to be saved. Preachers that always preach on blessing and giving and don't said anything about salvation is wrong. You not going to heaven on how much you give in church. You have to follow what the church did from the day of pentecost until now.

Amen..... I know missionaries, pastors, evangelists who go out into countries to preach the gospel; it is beautiful to help them. Its a privilidge to give to them... I know this one man, his name is Bruno. He goes to Peru to preach; he only owns 1 suit... :) He says with the heat at times, he has to wash it daily and at times; he has to learn to eat different things in their cultures but its fun for him lol things like that.. people who are about the kingdom of God...

Tithing is biblical, turning into money as well (Deut 14:25) Jesus told the Pharisees they ought to tithe (Luke 11:42) Abraham did it to his high priest. Jesus told us that the law is still the honourable holy way (Matth 5:19) God is not interested if we don't do it out of love. I think it is still honourable to do it, as well as keeping the sabbath. Not for salvation, but it will still bring blessings and eternal rewards.

Since we are not under the law we indeed don't have to, but the law is still a guideline to go by. We get to tithe, because we are so thankful for what our Lord has done for us, out of love. Tithing won't make us righteous but righteous people love to tithe and offer knowing that it contributes to expanding the Kingdom and being a blessing to others, since it is a more blessed to give than to receive. God looks at the heart, as long as you worship Him in spirit and truth, and his word is truth!

Whole Christianity is in error. We neglect the law which is very unwise. We read Paul's letters from a wordly mindset. The law is still holy. Sin is still transgression of the law. Unless you want to be called least in the Kingdom. The saints keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus. Blessed are they that do his commandements (rev 22:14 kjv) If you want answered prayer, blessings and eternal rewards. Do we make void the law through faith? God forbid! Sin so grace may abound?...

I dont think whole christianiy is in error.... Remember, the law cannot justify us. I believe both Law and Grace go hand in hand. The law exposes our sins and the grace covers them. Romans 3:23-25 talks about how Christ justifies us with his grace. Law cannot justify anyone bec. no one can live up to it, however it does expose how sinful we are and how much we need Jesus Christ to save us and he has paid the price for us all, if we accept his free gift of salvation.

You are absolutely right. The law adds nothing to our salvation, but organized Christianity totally neglects the law and is in hopeless error through following the traditions of man, instead of the commandments of God. Christmas and birthday celebrations are pagan, as well the Christmas tree. Sunday is not the Lord's day. Traditions make the word to none effect. Pastors and churches do not feed their flock and are in the prophecized apostate lukewarm condition. Sad but true!

Its in the new testament, it clearly tells us the purpose of the law. Its to make us conscious of our sins. I have great brothers like PastorGeorgeC who practices the sabath and he helps me on stickam each saturday; i have no problem with that at all. Do I rest no saturday's, well I dont work.. but I do rest in the lord 24/7! Every single day :) Jesus is my king, my saviour, my powerful God. Without our lord, man.. where would we be?

Yeah I agree. It is a balance there is no salvation or justification in keeping the law, but it is a good guideline to go by. Do you make a distinction between the written law by Moses and the 10 commandments. 1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
