I think a Mk1 GTI wouldnt last 150.000 before the Cylinderhead cracks, or the whole thing rusts away (rust is a huge problem on Mk1's 'til the last production year). So I would be careful in prognoses in your case. ;)

It broke down once in a while to be honest, but that was due to wiring getting old (cracky). I see it driving around even now once in a while... Wanna see it? drive to holland (Stolwijk to be precise) and look for a dark blue one with Type II rims...

Du hast schon recht mit den ''offensichtlichen'' Merkmalen, aber Ottonormal Bürger assoziiert den W124er eher mit: Alter Mann mit Hut hinterm Steuer, 60 auf der Landstraße und ein schwerfälliger Kasten. Ich fahr selbst einen Rentnerpanzer der schon für manche Überraschung gut war.
aus dem Stand hat man eher eine chance mit einem leichten 4zyl.Auto als mit so einem schwerem W124 und der e280 zieht die Wurst auch nicht vom Brot und erst recht fickt der keinen R32.

There is no such thing as a 190e 2.3-16v EVO 1, the Evo's were only 2.5-16v not 2.3-16v.
