@maricklee Yeah that was an error on my part when I was uploading the videos. There's a 2-3 minute video I uploaded after this one that covers the missing parts.
i have no idea what happened wit hthis "wolf" like robin was mauled and another killed (possible rape casue of groans in house) by woodcutter but wtf was this D=
think Ginger is confused and depressed about growing up as others have stated, menstruating could be certainly be a theme. I think Ginger put her confidence in an older girl who seemed to be her friend (a wolf) but ends up hurting her really badly in some way. Maybe killing her, but since everything else is a metaphor, maybe cyber-bullying or something of the like would a realistic explanation.
Also when I beat this game, I was able to open one room (there are three that can be opened) in the open room, the first person viewpoint in grandma’s house becomes very low, and Ginger seems to be crawling like a baby through the room.
I did some searching on dream interpretations for this, some of the more interesting things I found is that scarecrows symbolize depression, feathers can symbolize confusion, and “If (the) barbed wire catches you then this is associated with a female influence who is dominant” (auntyflo. Com)
I think the little girl didn't want ginger to grow up/mature into an adult. Since everything is tied down....
It sounds werid and I can't explain it but I think thats why Ginger died? Or maybe it was because the little girlwas a stranger?
It just seems like the little girl Ginger played with set it up and maybe pushed Ginger ( SPOILER I GUESS: Cause you never see the wolf in the succesful ending, they are always behind you.) into the barbed wire so they could play forever? Just a gut feeling.
Since this game is based on Red Riding Hood, I think "The Path" is an allegory for growing up. Your failings, weaknesses, or traumatic experiences, represented by the wolf, shape you and mature you into an adult. If you run straight to "grandmother's house" and never stray from the path, you never have those rites of passage that mature you, and hence you fail. Their "deaths" at the end represent the deaths of their childhoods. My take anyway.
@Lucitity Actually Michaël Samyn and Auriea Harvey (the developers) said that "...the actual story emerges from playing, partially in the game, partially in the player’s mind.", they didn't specifically write a story, they want you to draw you're own conclusion.
But they also said "...your story ultimately needs to end with the death of the protagonist. Because that's how the fairy tale goes.".
I agree with Traenan. Ginger's wolf was a girl in a red dress because when she starts her periods she knows that she is becoming a woman and it is one of the things she fears, being a tomboy, and she doesn't want to grow into a woman.
Running through life without looking down-- you're bound to get snagged by some kind of trouble if you aren't careful. The feathers really add to Ginger's carefree, light-headed feel.
Love the "Final Room" near the end. A feather may fall lightly, but it eventually hits the ground. Not bad.
I am... absolutely confused as to what that meant.
I mean, if we're to believe Freud here, everything is eventually about sex, which is why most of the wolves in the game are male, so there is implied rape and all sorts of things in this game.
It's... bizarre.
Obviously, the fact that the wolf was a girl is significant, but I don't know what it means.
Each girl has a stereo type, Ginger mimicks a tomboyish girl.
[THEORY]
The girl in red mimicks coming of age, how? Blood is red, and barbed wire causes loss of blood by bleeding, put two and two together and you have menstruation. The wolf is a girl because Ginger fears becoming a 'woman'.
Tbh, I really think that each traumatic experience, or 'death', that the girls go through just symbolise different things in life that make you grow up. The creators of this game just decided to focus more on the loss of innocence side to growing up and so the game has a very scary and negative atmosphere.
I think Ginger's Wolf could be about a sexual experience with another girl, and because of her childish nature she's confused and doesn't want to grow up and face it.
Barbed Wire usely means that you are constricted within boundaries or trapped , without freedom.
This is showing Ginger pushed into them, looking like she was trying to push past the "boundaries." If going with the "Growing up Theory", she tried to break free of thr boundaries and made mistakes. She got hurt trying to go past them. Going with the "Death Theory", she was free and she was killed. That's as far as I can go with the "Death Theory" just with the barbed wire.
Also the floating or falling feathers usually mean a lighthearted feel for life, or an enjoyment for the life she was living. Alternatively, they may represent confusion, hastiness, and lost of dignity.
Possibly saying that Ginger rushed into the world to fast and she was pained.
Either way, she tried to express her "freedom" by going and trying out the world's paths and was maimed.
Everything about this game is so much more symbolic than literal, I love it. The barbed wire, the mattresses, the girl in red... it's symbolic to some kind of inner trauma for Ginger. What that is, is more obvious as one studies it. <3 It's the same way for all the characters.
This game makes me think of a college project with the easy controls and the way it focuses much more on psychology and story than anything like action.
that's fucked up in every concievable way. i still don't know what this games purpose is, or what it's really about, but i swear it's the lovechild of satan and stalin.
I think that these ay be nightmares each one of the girls meet thier "wolves" enter a fucked up version of Grandma's House and apparently die but they probobly had nightmares then return to the room after the Girl In White's section the this game's finale
I went through that last scene pressing pause / play constantly to see what those tiny snippets were. From what I could tell, it looked like the girl in the red dress tied ginger up with the barbed wire then wrapped it around her neck and cut her throat
Still, I'd be VERY interested in seeing him play this game. It's not really a "jump out and scare you" horror game, it's really one that makes you THINK something's gonna jump out at you. Brad would be on the edge of his seat the whole time =D
well, the path is more of a well, how do i put it? like a weird psychological horror thing or something (i dont even get it really). it is a good game though, but only if you're into stuff like symbolism.
Quick addition: If you go around and collect more items you'll take a different path - showing different things with a lot of symbolism behind them. Which is why I like to think of most of the "little red's" deaths as symbolic rather then actual -
****Spoilers****
excluding the youngest ones ending of course which appears as both symbolic and actual due to her "final room" you unlock from the items you gather.
If it wasn't for the flash of Ginger's neck being gashed open on barbed wire I would've said that her death was more symbolic (which I can go into a rant about but wont) then actual - buuut nope looks like she died.
She was probably playing with her new "friend" she met and got caught on the barbed wire or something happened while she was climbing the fence and it ended up with her raking her neck on the wires. Or maybe the chick in red did it - who's to truly say besides the creators.
wait... so if you stay safe and go straight to poor grandmas house you fail, but if you break the rules and play with this demon girl and die in grammas house, you win? i need an aspirin...
umm ive not got a strong idea on this one, maby she had an accident with barbed wire when playing with her frend, or it could be what you said that she died from being strangled with it.
what the crap, you left off playing with that other girl and then you up load this after jumping ahead aways, thats dumb....
