I was the driver in the mustang, goingbigger was runnin the camera. we met up with the supra driver after the race and got a good look at the engine, and thats when we found out he had to cut it off at 20psi on pump gas. the setup was still impressive to say the least. the mustang puts down over 500hp in street trim so anyone who wants to step up has gotta be on their game. i totally respect supras, hell i owned one, he just wasn't prepared enough for this contest.

that supra is not heavily modified nor is it running at 32 psi. there would need to be a SHIT load of engine upgrades for that thing to run at 32 psi. oh and it would have thrown that mustang in the rear view mirrior fast
That car wasn't heavily modified. In other words, when an import is able to keep up with a stock American car, you name it: HEAVILY MODIFIED. If a Honda NSX was running so close to you, you wouldn't be surprised. Your American car needs a V8 engine to get 300 hp, but the NSX can stay at a V6 C32B engine at 290 hp. Just goes to show: the NSX is a HONDA that can keep up.
for one, who said anything about the mustang being stock? number two, I've raced two nsx's and they didn't come near as close as this supra. third, we pulled over and took a look at this supra and it is VERY HEAVILY MODIFIED, and, on race gas at the track it runs high 10's and will definately outrun my mustang. fourth, this american v8 produces well over 500 crankhp in it's current trim.

how can you generalize fox mustang's? they run anywhere from 7 seconds to 15 seconds in the qtr. mile. as do supras. it all depends on the modifications done to the car and how the suspension is set up. when it comes to street racing blanket statements related to the body style of a car only shows ignorance, there are too many variables in todays aftermarket world.

I get rocked at the track but beat high 10sec cars on the freeway. gotta use my advantage where I can.
for the record. I'm well aware there are a significant number of supras who'd hand me my ass in a similar race. toyota did an incredible job in the strength and design of the later model supra engines and turbo capabilities, and available mods are sick, hell I used to own one. my stang has the components to produce way higher numbers but I'm limited by the strength of my block (I split my last two!) supras are to be feared...and grand nationals.
That is a pretty sick fox you have. How much do they typically weigh? I know they are a lot lighter than a Supras heavy ass. You need to get a nice block so you can crank the boost up. I dont care what anyone says, there is no replacement for displacement. Nice vid.
they run around 3250lbs curb weight wet from the factory, but I've done some weight reduction to lighten it up. I know my supra seemed kinda bulky for it's size, but it took a ton of abuse. if you look through some of the previous comments I've listed a site where you can see more vids and mods I've done to my car. hopefully I can start my boss302 stroker by spring, then I'll be able to throw down some real dyno numbers! take care bud

I know why. Parts were left out. I told him I was running only part throttle due to it over boosting when we spoke. You can call a race a win when someones is in handicap mode I guess? I just thought...what the heck, I will try and beat him part throttle. I did let off in the video as you can see anyway since the boost went higher than I wanted. It was at 16PSI. At 32PSI my Supra makes 815RWHP(and with the clutch slipping/no NOS) If the new clutch holds I will be down in SIR to race on the 12th.
