@Moggemorle only Americans put superchargers on cars. This is not a muscle car, it's a GT race car. I';m not talking about a regular Zonda, but a Zonda R, which is made of carbon fiber and does 0-60 mph in an incredible 2.6 secs

haha I dont know. It was probably a salient thought, well as good as they are at 3AM, but perhaps the 500 char count limited me. I think my point was the S65 is not based on the S62, nor is the GTR engine (P60B40) based on the S62. I think I meant to say BMW experimented with the P60B40 and evolved that into the S65 and the new V10 as the P60B40 was developed and racing while the S62 was out.

firstly the S62 is a 4.9L, not a 5. A common misconception among BMW nooblets. Nelso90 is right though. The S65, the 4.0L V8, is based off of the new gen M5s V10, not the S65. Power curve is way different than the S62. I also know the VVT is different from S65 and S62.0. Finally the GTR engine may not be the S65 either. But the GTR was out in 2001, the S62 what 1998? I doubt BMW evolved the S62 into the GTR or the S65 in that time.

This is an M3 GTR, a racing version of the M3 homologated with a V8 engine for competition in the Le Mans race series and the ALMS for a short period. The road-going version had a 3.2 liter inline six cylinder.
