For Stubborn 02 sensors, you can use a propane torch (of course be weary of gas tank/lines) and heat the exhaust pipe as close to the sensor (without heating the sensor!!!) as possible to expand the metal. remove heat source and very quickly remove the sensor before the metal cools off again(2 people is best).
I know common sense says the hole will get smaller as metal expands, making it more difficult to get out.. but the hole actually expands, making it easy peazy to get out the sensor.
@ltsgoyanks DUDE JUST BUY A CAN OF PB BLASTER ,SPRAY THE O2 TAP IT A FEW TIMES , RE-SPRAY IT AND WAIT 10 MINS BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO PULL THE SENSOR . PIECE OF CAKE.
@grneyzX3 Yeah, I totally agree that would be the safest method!!! Some cars in the NorthEast and Utah and CO that are subjected to harsh Winters and salted roads(still), may have to use the torch to get it out safely without damaging the exhaust manifold or RUSTED exhaust pipe. Pb Blaster is some good stuff! I recommend trying that first for sure!
@wow14willywaller yes. I have a 2001 Chevy Prizm and I'm supposed to be getting 29, and I'm getting high teens - low twenties. Just go to a local Auto Parts store and they can run a free diagnostics on your car and tell you what's going on.
my father has a 97 cadillac deville I copied the codes down from the odometer. There is a problem with Bank1 sensor 2 and Bank 2 sensor 1 The codes have been showing up a while. Lately alot of smoke comes from his exhaust when he starts it and it idles till it warms up then its smooth Sometime it wont start. Where are these 2 sensors and could they be causing this problem
@muncleike SOUNDS LIKE YOURE USING THE WRONG SOCKET MY FRIEND OR PERHAPS YOU NEED TO SPRAY THAT O2 WITH SOME PB BLASTER BEFORE YOU TRY TAKING THAT O2 OFF
I have a 2002 camry and my engine light came on. The dealer said to replace the catalytic converter for 1500.00 bucks. I bought the parts and had a mechanic put it in. Cost 300.00 total. Engine light went off!!! When they showed me the old O2 sensor, I knew one did not work anymore because the mechanic showed me, part of it had melted and he had a difficult time gettting it out. Check your o2 sensor before replacing catalytic converter!
Pos no que "es easy as changing a tire" ese , se estuvo un chingo, corto el cable, y luego el pinchi dado lo compro dioquis por que ni lo uso. que pues ese. mejor habiera rentado el dado. Hay te wacho
Informative but just disconnecting the battery does not necessarily get rid of the trouble code. On my Nissan I had to connect a code reader to the car and hit the erase button to clear the code out of the system. Once I did that, the check engine light went out.....
LOL, he said Oxygen 2 sensor.

@CP240sx Thats because you didn't leave the battery un plugged long enough.
MustangFan424 1 year ago
@MustangFan424 I disconnected the battery for over an hour. Shouldn't that have been long enough?
CP240sx 1 year ago
@CP240sx Most of the time yes, but not always. Unplug it overnight, and it will clear.
