@Mufaso1000 Yeah, I believe FDR wasn't president in the 20s. That distinction belongs to Republicans. Though Republicans supporting a fascist state should hardly be surprising.
Franklin D.Roosevelt was stopped by the U.S. Supreme Court, starting on May 27, 1935. And again in 1936. He was so furious, that then he called them, " Those nine old men". He had the audacity to think that he could just add more judges to the court, so he could get his way on everything. Then he made the people turn in all of their gold, or they would be arrested. Unbelievable! This man and his policies only prolonged the great depression. We have a very similar situation today with Obama
@TOPOFFMAN As opposed to Newt who just wanted them arrested? Also, hoarding gold prolongs depressions, as it limits spending. While it was probably an overstep of executive power, it definitely didn't contribute to the great depression. Finally, RAWR RAWR RAWR OBAMA IZ STOOPID!
@TOPOFFMAN Specific cases for that assertion? I just want to know what were talking about. Are we talking about the healthcare bill that still has yet to be reviewed by the Supreme Court or are we talking about the detention of terror suspects that was started under Bush?
@violatedchimp Specific case #1. Recess appointments, and numerous appointments by Obama, of his czars by executive orders, cleverly made just to avoid congressional approval of said appointments. CLEARLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL! BTW asshole, Bush's detention of terror suspects that you mention are legal when said suspects are enemy combatants in times of war. And the information that was received by those detainees actually helped your fabulous Obama to claim credit for the results.
“We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work.…I say after eight years of this administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started…And an enormous debt to boot!”
- Henry Morgantheau FDR Treasury Secretary
I hope you realize his anti- gold hording was unconstitutional
@Salvysahagun What part of the constitution does it go against? For something to be unconstitutional, it needs to got against something in the constitution, not simply not be in it.
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
I'm pretty sure FDR was not a Judge so I guess he couldn't writhe a warrant.
"Our dollar is now altogether too much influenced by the internal policies of other nations. The US must take firmly into its own hands the gold value of our dollar." A country that pegs its currency to gold is still reliant on the monetary policies of other nations; after WW1 the US had the largest gold supplies in the world so it didn't have to worry about anything happening overseas. Many countries in Europe had very little gold left and could not finance recoveries w/o abusing gold standard.
Laughing out loud at SchutzStaffel Warrior's ludicrous statements. Yes, it is all a Jewish and Communist conspiracy, of course it is...LOL!! . I think he was born out of his time, he should have been around in the 1930s kicking Jews' heads in and stomping on Communists and the disabled and homosexuals and gypsies with his big Nazi boots. Such a jerk.
@LudicrouslyLuis no we dont. hes the last thing we need. a man that can smile and quietly strain the backs of taxpayers is effectively and obviously the absolute last thing we need.
@zmurrey FDR was a traitor to the US... Read your history, he declared the US Bankrupt and stole Gold from the citizens... Because of FDR, we got messed up into WW2, and now the US is paying the price for his deeds, and the collapse of the Bretton Woods financial system... FDR was a TOTAL TRAITOR to the US... He brought in all the Communists and prolonged the depression...
@SchutzStaffelWarrior You really need a history lesson .. as well as one in something else you seem to know little about: reality. The US, communist?? Yeah sure, that's how Joseph McCarthy came about I suppose!
@leizuoer The US is a corporation where the corporations are NATIONALISED, and not the people... Sounds like a Communist Dictatorship to me... Shut your mouth and read history for once...
@SchutzStaffelWarrior I'm a history graduate, you're an ignorant Nazi. The US is the most capitalistic country in the world. No country is further from Communism. If you want to label the US as a "dictatorship", you should call it a Corporate Dictatorship. I never heard about Coca Cola or AT&T or Intel or Microsoft being nationalised. You know why? It didn't happen!
@leizuoer US history degrees are rewarded by studying lies and doctored books of WW2 history events... If you even knew what the hell you were talking about, you'd know that Capitalism and Communism are two sides of the same jewish coin. The Jews start off with Capitalism, get people to love it on the way up, and then get them to hate it on the way down as they turn the system to Socialism and then Capitalism... However, I absolutely agree the US to be a Corporate Dictatorship.
@SchutzStaffelWarrior Yeah, except I'm not American, so I don't have a US history degree. Plus, my country has practically no Jewish citizens -- in our recent elections, the left-wing and the far left wing made huge gains -- because the people have been failed by bankers and speculators who destroyed our economy wiith reckless gambling ... again, none of them Jewish.
@leizuoer US Corporations are nationalized internally by the financial institutions, they all scratch eachother's backs and give kickbacks... And all those companies you just mentioned help fund Israeli terrorism against Palestinians...
@SchutzStaffelWarrior Sorry but you don't seem to know what nationalisation is. It means the people, through their government, takes over a company or corporation and so it passes from private to public ownership. None of the companies I mentioned are nationalised. As for Israeli terror, I couldn't agree more with you. Israel is definitely the aggressor in that conflict. But you should also know that it's Israel's extreme right-wing that's responsible for those policies.
@leizuoer There is no truth in anything you have stated. Israel is only protecting what is theirs. Please state facts that can be researched and proven. Secondly, It is impossible for right wing policies to be the cause of any destructivness as long as communist/socialist policies do not interrupt the free market's ability to natural correct itself.
@bjrc1979 East Jerusalem isn't theirs. Gaza isn't theirs. West Bank isn't theirs. Yet they continue to occupy them. Palestinians need to pass through thousands of checkpoints to travel WITHIN their own territory. That's called occupying, not protecting. We're approaching the point where the Israeli hard right (Netanyahu and his band of fascists) are treating the Palestinians the way Hitler treated Jews in his country. The war in Gaza deliberately targeted civilians. It was murder.
@leizuoer They never deliberately targeted civilians. That is an utter fabrication from the left. Israel forces actually contacted the people in advance to warn them. They actually warned the civilians to get their things and leave before any action was taken. You have been indoctrinated by too much liberal media/educators. Israel is not evil and is not the enemy. There is more freedom in Israel than in any other middle east country. This belief that Israel doing anything wrong is truelly scary
@leizuoer When a country fights a war...and wins...Is the area they won not theirs? Check up on your history. Jerusalem belongs to Israel. (Not to mention that if the current border were changed Israel would be basically defenseless against the Palestinians.)
@Roseshavethorns44 That kind of philosophy justifies war for war's sake. To suggest Israel would be defencelss with the 1967 boders is laughable. Israel was created around and on top of people who were already living there ie the Palestinians. Now Israel wants to occupy and build upon what little rump of land the Palestinians have left! But it's for self-defence ... yeah right.
@zmurrey Hitler, on the other hand took Germany out of depression and made it the strongest world superpower in 6 years... I'd love to see FDR accomplish that... FDR was just another cronie of the communists, another Mass Murderer along with Stalin and Churchill...
@SchutzStaffelWarrior Hitler did his "magic" by signing away the Weimar republic to the world's richest corporations and banks. That's what some mean when they call him fascist. He joined the State at the hips with the tyrannical corporations. ANd he was given a great amount of credit by bankers to do this. Essentially he privatized Germany, the antithesis of socialization. Fanta (Coca Cola front company) IBM (ran the death camp data records) Thyssen (industrialist laundered money in US) etc.
@kassandrasduplex Excuse me, but the Weimar Republic was OWNED by Jewish Corporations and Banks... Hitler took the power out of the Jews hands and put Germany back in the control of Germans... Even while German companies were Nationalized, Hitler made NO personal profits from doing this, nor did the NSDAP party, and unlike Communism, Germans were actualy entitled to own land in Germany...
Beware FASCISTS using economic disaster to further their evil.
Roosevelt was LOVED by the AMerican people, that's why they elected him FOUR times and the reason is simple, because he felt the sting of human misery and loss, he knew the troubles of the common American.
Roosevelt sheperded this nation through its second darkest hour without scapegoating Jews, gypsies, gays , the sick and poor. He didn't use the propagand of Edward Bernays the way Goebbels did for Hitler.
@kassandrasduplex Roosevelt deceived his people BIG time... He prolonged the depression for 12 years to stay in office longer than necessary, and the US could've rebounded from the depression much faster than Germany... Now how did Hitler make Germany a superpower in less than 6 years, eh? STUDY YOUR FACTS!!! Stop reading Zionist Lies and respewing them...
BTW, Jews, Gays, Communists, Marxists, Jehova's Witnesses are all the scum and trash of society, Hitler was right doing away with them.
@kassandrasduplex One day you are going to harvest the thorns and thistles of the German's suffering for your comments and beliefs... The Germans sacrificed everything they had, even their own race to save Europe and the world over from Communism... One day you will awaken to the fact that Roosevelt was a farce and a traitor, and that everything you thought you had good faith in as far as US History, was bogus... NASA Program was also stolen from Nazi Germany... READ YOUR HISTORY.
@SchutzStaffelWarrior My family is of German ancestry. FDR was no communist (perhaps unfortunately!) The IMF bankers and the World Bank are not communists. And neither "the bankers to the world" are (the Rothschilds). As for our rockets, we had some of our own scientists and we had some of our own physicists to make the bomb. But Hitler targeted the Jews and lost the most important scientists. "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his need." not a bad ideal.
@kassandrasduplex FDR was most definitely a Communist, and even admitted openly that the majority of his friends were Communists... IMF Bank and World Bank are owned by Communist Jews... You seem to be totally brainwashed about the accomplishments of the Germans vs. Jews... Jews invented nothing, they only steal and thrive off the creations of Non-Jews... Why did no country in the world want to take the jews when Germany was offering them when they wanted to deport them out of Germany?
@kassandrasduplex These institutions wish to level the playing field for all the world countries, making nations dependent on these institutions for their survival, whereas countries are forced to surrender their own sovereignty and control of their own currencies... America, for example does not even own its own currency... UN & IMF are in total control of the US Dollar... Any GLOBAL institution is a Communist institution... Including the UN, especially.
@kassandrasduplex You love Karl Marx, eh? Why is it that when Marxism is put into practice, that its results are always undesireable? The ideas of Karl Marx are all bad ideas, and they have been proven by time to be nothing but failures, and result in the tearing apart of nations... Read your history...
FDR's New Deal and his implementation of Social Security was one of the strongest economically ameliorative and effective cross partisan and financial ventures any Western power has ever experienced.
If you like a stagnating economy and a growing deficit, the Czar-loving nature of Reagan and the two Bush's may be your taste. Obama sucks, but at least he's not ass-useless and outright corrupt.
@TAz69x FDR fixed prices (By just completely trampling farm crops), prolonged the Depression... I'm terribly sorry that I am a fan of Thomas Jefferson and Washington....
@TAz69: FYI, you are very misinformed of your history! FDR was the greatest traitor to the US. He called in the gold supply, declared the US Bankrupt and prolonged the depression for an unnecessary 12 years to keep his term in office longer... Roosevelt is a Communist, and he brought all the Communist Jews into the country. He is a war criminal, along with Churchill and Stalin... READ YOUR HISTORY!
@TAz69x Of course! Ms. Mildred Elizabeth GILLARS*! With this President the US would have been winner of the war without a single shot and zero casualities!
@TAz69x WOW!!! Maybe you should do some research. FDR was one of the most horrible presidents in history. I can't go into all the details here but he turned an ordinary recession that naturally happens into the Great Depression. He drastically grew government and began regulating private industry. He expanded on the policies Hoover who was started the depression. He was a disaster. I just ask that you do research and discover the truth for yourself. Reagan was an outstanding president!
Don't forget that the Federal Reserve Act was 1913 and could explain the causes of wars (the greatest debt generator) and the Great Depression. It is important to understand that when the economy is down, it gives opportunities to certain people to buy low and take over industries.
@5canesNatcham I don't think Obama sounds much like FDR, to be frank. Obama tries to be folksy and witty, FDR is more to the point. FDR is more stern, Obama is more jovial, but in the end I'd say they're styles are equally effective. TV/newsreels have changed a lot since the 30's, obviously that accounts for some of the differences between the two.
@5canesNatcham FDR purposely prolonged the depression and duped the Americans... Now, America was even in better shape to weather an economic collapse and had a better production base and resources than Germany at that time, but can one explain how Germany, which was struck WORST in the Depression in Europe came right out of it in 6 years by Hitler and he made Germany the strongest superpower?
@SchutzStaffelWarrior Germany under Hitler scapegoated people to death. It pretended to be socialist but in fact was fascist combining the wealth of the nation with the worst most venal corporations, Thiessen, Krupps, IBM, etc. As long as you did what the corporate oligarchs wanted and you weren't part of a targeted minority, Germany was OK for you...for awhile. Then it all fell apart.
Who were the international bankers who backed Hitler's war machine?
@kassandrasduplex No they did not... You have all your facts wrong... Jews have been a problem throughout history in every country they've landed in, READ YOUR HISTORY!!! Roosevelt NEVER Backed Hitler's war machine, in fact, you will never see Hitler pictured together with those 3 mass murderer's who conspired WW2, Churchill, Stalin and FDR. FDR was a Traitor who declared the US bankrupt, called in the gold and repriced it from $20 to $35 per ounce.
@kassandrasduplex You are correct though that Hitler is Fascism, and Roosevelt was Socialism (COMMUNISM)... We went to war on the wrong side... You should study pre-WW2 events carefully to understand how the war started. Germany was backstabbed by the Jews after WW1, and the Germans were left poor and destitute. Jews owned all the wealth of Germany and controlled the Berlin banks. They made Berlin the international drug & prostitution trade center of the world.
My father got his job that way. He slept in the mud in a pup tent in the pacific for 4 years. Plus the food rationing. Hardly recovery. Look there was little difference between the economy during the war that the slave economy of the old south.
@Oyo321 The World War helped because we went into accelerated war production after Pearl Harbor. If FDR had had his way, we would have gone into such war production long before Pearl Harbor, thus creating millions of jobs.
The reason the war was so arduous in those first years was precisely because certain conservatives in Congress thought it was a good idea to sit on our hands while the Fascists - who had no such reservations - ate up the rest of the free world.
@elperromagico America's long term economic success was not because of the temporary increase in production; it was the fact that America was able to sustain its production through the war period when other nations suffered the most developmental destruction. After WWII ended, America had a running start and was able to dominate the markets. That's my explanation, anyways.
@elperromagico You are VERY WRONG about the Fascists wanting to have eaten up the rest of the free world... FDR was a criminal of the International Jews who he worked with, along with Churchill and Stalin... FDR prolonged the Depression only so he could stay in office longer, while Hitler took Germany from a state of ruin and made it the strongest superpower in 6 years when getting rid of the Parasitic Jews that ruined their economy... America is paying the price today for siding with Communism.
@ZuzoFriend not usa my friend. while europe and asia lies devastated and debt ridden, USA was the sole surviving economic powerhouses whose industrial-military complex had profited vastly from war productions.
@yonanz Profit from war productions never results in profit for the people, but only the Jews and their Corporate CEO's who are the profiteers of the armament industries who benefit, and have NO loyalty to the US... Very soon, the US will realize that it has still not paid the full price of involving itself with both World Wars... As it is about to be crushed and sent into the dustbin of history.
Bailed out workers??? He forced farmers to plow under crops directly leading to starvation in the US. America had to import food as a result of this man's crazy ideas.
Now how long did the depression last? 7+ years. Now how long do recessions prior to this last? 1 or 2 years at most The difference was the how FDR mis-managed the economy. Please read some history. He forced farmers to plow-under crops and slaughter live stock, established price supports and put people in jail for charging lower prices, increased income taxes to 90%. He created the depression. Next to Wilson this is the closets we came to having a fascist regime in the US
Hoover and FDR, despite being of different parties followed the same big government policy. The RECESSION started under Hoover, but became the great depression under FDR. The Great Depression was called that because of the length of the event, which FDR caused.
Compare this to Coolidge who also faced a recession after WW1. He let companies go under, and no big new deal programs, no NRA. The results were the economy recovered in less than two years.
FDR would have starred in PBS' recent great documentary that explains the recent mess:
"THE WARNING"---if only they listened to Brooksley Born.
Instead, the "free market thugs" Greenspan, Rob Rubin, Larry Summers and their mini-protege Geithner, bashed her CONCEPTS paper warning of the Default Swaps crisis looming. And Born resigned! Under FDR she would have fired Rubin (now sued for millions for fraud) and Greenspan.
Free market???? The FED, Fannie, Freddie are all government agencies ACORN, Obama and the other black cause thugs all pressured banks to give subprime loans because the felt that there was red lining (look it up). Banks were forced to count food stamps and welfare checks as income for loan purposes.
@stanleythughes Obama is a wall street puppet, the governement is middle management to the banks. The government works for the baks you idiot, not the other way around. The government cant make the banks do anything. Just like I can not make you think.
Such language. If youy have any facts or data love to hear it.. Read a newspaper once in awhile the government can and has shut down banks in the last few months.
You're right, the government totally dictates to wall street what to do. What was I thinking?
Some day I will be brilliant like you and I can cheerlead the destruction of our economy and then repeat misinformation about the cause of it on the internet. Bravo.
I find it stunning that you need to have what is obvious to even a casual observer, let alone someone wanting to debate the subject. While the middle class has been caught in an economic vise, the financial industry that was supposed to serve them has prospered at their expense.
Consumer banking -- selling debt to middle class families -- has been a gold mine. Boring banking has given way to creative banking, and the industry has generated tens of billions of dollars annually in fees made possible by deceptive and dangerous terms buried in the fine print of opaque, incomprehensible, and largely unregulated contracts.
And when various forms of this creative banking triggered economic crisis, the banks went to Washington for a handout.
All the while, top executives kept their jobs and retained their bonuses.
Even though the tax dollars that supported the bailout came largely from middle class families -- from people already working hard to make ends meet -- the beneficiaries of those tax dollars are now lobbying Congress to preserve the rules that had let those huge banks feast off the middle class.
You know you and your friends on the left use the same rants as Hitler. He also went on and on about the evil bankers. Kind of scary the similarity of the views you and the Nazis share
Families understand with crystalline clarity that the rules they have played by are not the same rules that govern Wall Street. They understand that no American family is "too big to fail." They recognize that business models have shifted and that big banks are pulling out all the stops to squeeze families and boost revenues. They understand that their economic security is under assault and that leaving consumer debt effectively unregulated does not work.
@stanleythughes Mccain voted for the bail outs as well as did the Bush adminstration so even if you voted republican you also voted bail out and GM has repayed its goverment loan with interest 5 years ahead of schedule we can no longer claim GM is the problem they are back on the right track
Um, I'm pretty sure he spent most of the speech looking down, seeing as how he has to say it word for word. Also, the majority of people who would've heard this speech would have listened to it on the radio, as many people did not have televisions at the time. Eye contact would therefore not be very relevant.
You are correct to complain about Social Darwinism. But remember that Social Darwinism was part of the progressive movement. FDR was a progressive. He was all for experimenting about how to better run people's lives for them. This is also the basis of modern socialism too.
What Keynesian economics did was created a 10 year depression. People starved under FDR, went homeless. Keynesian was tried and failed.
You are correct to complain about crone capitalism. This is what Obama is setting up now in the US. But true capitalism took people out of feudalism. When you use a computer or car or the internet you are using something that capitalism created. The standard of living in the US has double in the US since the 1950s because of capitalism
Keynesian economics brought about the largest economic growth in history. From 1945 to 1975 no country in history had ever saw such economic prosperity. Thank you John Keynes.
New Deal challenge to Obama? Obama is the New Deal on steroids. Social Security? Welfare? Price controls? They may all be shining examples of failed government programs... but they're small beans compared to what the current POTUS is after.
It is the oligarchy -- the very thing the French revolted against; listen to Simon Johnson's American Oligarchy; former IMF Chairman lays out how American banking has taken over the American government; why do you think the "bailout" money went to the financial house and largest banks? Credit Default Swaps ( $62 trillion worth) were issued without regulation to banks who packaged loans; the problem was that paper was worthless; CDS were to insure the lender against defaults; a big nasty scam;
Is it? Okay, tell you what, what keeps a bank in check, what prevents a bank from doing shennanigans? What is the only way to destroy a bank? Depositors. If there is no risk transmitted to depositors, banks can do EVERYTHING THEY WANT TO DO , thanks to socialism. And then you're wondering why the market is collapsing... Wow you people need some serious education.
Social Security... a good thing? I guess if you ignore the fact that Americans could have more money for their retirement by investing the same amount deducted for SS, the fact that the government couldn't resist digging into the "fund" to the extent that it is no longer a fund but a giant debt, and the fact that the overhead costs of ANY government program are enough to turn far too many of our tax dollars into bureaucracy fuel... I suppose it is pretty nifty.
oi retard stop having a little rant, the reduction of crops was nessisary under the agricultural adjustment act. learn some history and some economic, the supply for agricultural products was massive, so big farm produce was worth nothing. supply had to drop dramaticly to increase demand and prices
what a joke. If people were taught the true history about how he had farm fields burned to raise the price of crops, people wouldn't buy this garbage from a gimp legged piece of shit.
Or how he confiscated cold from private citizens, what a piece of shit.
And probably also the reason why financial companies contribute heavily to schools where economists tend to get their education.
They have to convince that there way is the *right* way and that monetarism is a good thing.
It's simply how they protect their interests. Think about how much mathematical talent and wasted educational dollars are working at Hedge Funds and investment banks doing absolutely nothing to help society move forward to the next level of existence.
When you think about what a securities "dealer" does, he makes money by pulling what is to be interest earned over time into the present and pockets it now.
If this security is bought with another currency, it actually causes dollar-based asset inflation.
A system that allows this is a system who's immediate debt burden and risk which far outweighs what the real economy could ever service.
Proabably the reason Goldman Sachs has to buy off politicians and plant people in the treasury.
Economics in my opinion, is better thought of in units of work instead of money.
The money supply can increase and decrease but productivity is always the same (for arguments sake).
Credit is extended to build physical assets that society needs to live but credit should not be issued to purchase debt thus things like Hedge Funds are not allowed to exist.
With all do respect, you sound like a Marxist. Marx's vision was to eliminate money and just grant credits on hours worked. A loaf of bread may be 1 hour credit and a pair of shoes might be 3 hours credit. Were all equal! Yah!
Your pay is directly tied to your productivity, to how much you produce. A worker building a road with hand tools is likely to get paid less than the skilled worker building a road with big machinery. One produced more than the other even after the costs are adjusted.
Now because I want sound banking regulation such as we had after the depression which gave us the greatest economy and highest living standard in history, I am a Marxist and full of class envy.
That is a really week ad-hom on your part. Think bigger when I am talking to you.
The worker in CAT is producing more per unit of human input but is using energy to multiply his efforts through the use of sophisticated machinery.
The people making and designing the machinery have come up with something that benefits society and allows us all to live better and should thus be well-paid.
The Bankers at Hedge Funds and Goldman Sachs have not. They serve only to make us pay more for things that already exist. (inflate)
Can you find me any well know, respected professional economist that shares your extremely ignorant class envy views towards bankers?
You don't seem to have even the most basic grasp of what the financial markets do and why.
I suspected you were a Marxist. There are a lot of you people here on youtube. This is a good place for propaganda and sub-cultures....If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living and what do you have any professional financial training?
FDIC works when banking is regulated, FDIC does not work in a deregulated environment because rather than insuring customer's deposits, it essentially incentivizes risk and gambling with customer's deposits.
This is why before Gramm/Leech/Bliley, your neighborhood banks were not allowed to interact with investment banks I.E. sell them mortgages through SIV's.
By "Shlaes protege," I assume you are referring to Amity Shlaes who wrote "The Forgotten Man: A New History of The Great Depression." I think we're heading towards fascism too.
he couldnt fix the economy so war was the only way out of course it helped that most of his advisors were jews, like the one who wrote all of his speeches sam rosenman they were upset that the german economy quickly improved once jews were removed, for some reason jews cant stand a nation free of jewish domination (iraq iran)
so i suppose that you would have preferred that the Allies did not go to war and liberate the Jews from the concentration camp? ......Oh wait, you probably don't believe that the Holocaust even happened do you?
barley - Actually his new deal policies were working but the damage being so severe it took time. The war too did help because it too was nothing less than a massive public works project.
At least then manufacturing, profits, wages stayed in the US. At least the tax levels were more fair unlike the massive giveaways to the rich we've seen with the pseudo-conservatives. At least the ratio of executive pay and the workers pay was not extreme as it is now.
I always enjoy people who completely ignore history and say FDR didn't help the nation... He was one of the first presidents to actually care about American workers (the majority this nation was founded for), and now people think that his legislation (including Welfare, medicare, the fourty hour work week, etc.) was a waste. It's funny how reversing most of this mans laws resulted in the situation we're in now, huh?
Omega - They are ignorant morons susceptible to right-wing propaganda, designed to undermine the SUCCESS of government intervention, when deregulated capitalism grinds the economy to a halt. History is repeating itself now, yet there are those on the right who refuse to let go of their failed, free market ideology.
This is a little offbase... It wasn't capitalism, it was crony capitalism... Capitalism means creating wealth from capital, our problems were caused because we created some wealth through leveraging of debt... and in regards to the regulations, there were 30,000 plus pages of them, and the investigators didn't find the fraud till the bubble burst... Then we have to look at where the money came from... cheap and easy credit... Bernie Madoff's fraud is no different than Social Security's
This son of a bitch is the reason our country is in the shape it's in.

SchutzStaffelWarrior 10 months ago
@SchutzStaffelWarrior I'm a history graduate, you're an ignorant Nazi. The US is the most capitalistic country in the world. No country is further from Communism. If you want to label the US as a "dictatorship", you should call it a Corporate Dictatorship. I never heard about Coca Cola or AT&T or Intel or Microsoft being nationalised. You know why? It didn't happen!
leizuoer 10 months ago
@leizuoer US history degrees are rewarded by studying lies and doctored books of WW2 history events... If you even knew what the hell you were talking about, you'd know that Capitalism and Communism are two sides of the same jewish coin. The Jews start off with Capitalism, get people to love it on the way up, and then get them to hate it on the way down as they turn the system to Socialism and then Capitalism... However, I absolutely agree the US to be a Corporate Dictatorship.
SchutzStaffelWarrior 10 months ago
@SchutzStaffelWarrior Yeah, except I'm not American, so I don't have a US history degree. Plus, my country has practically no Jewish citizens -- in our recent elections, the left-wing and the far left wing made huge gains -- because the people have been failed by bankers and speculators who destroyed our economy wiith reckless gambling ... again, none of them Jewish.

@leizuoer US Corporations are nationalized internally by the financial institutions, they all scratch eachother's backs and give kickbacks... And all those companies you just mentioned help fund Israeli terrorism against Palestinians...
SchutzStaffelWarrior 10 months ago
@SchutzStaffelWarrior Sorry but you don't seem to know what nationalisation is. It means the people, through their government, takes over a company or corporation and so it passes from private to public ownership. None of the companies I mentioned are nationalised. As for Israeli terror, I couldn't agree more with you. Israel is definitely the aggressor in that conflict. But you should also know that it's Israel's extreme right-wing that's responsible for those policies.
leizuoer 10 months ago
@leizuoer There is no truth in anything you have stated. Israel is only protecting what is theirs. Please state facts that can be researched and proven. Secondly, It is impossible for right wing policies to be the cause of any destructivness as long as communist/socialist policies do not interrupt the free market's ability to natural correct itself.
bjrc1979 9 months ago
@bjrc1979 East Jerusalem isn't theirs. Gaza isn't theirs. West Bank isn't theirs. Yet they continue to occupy them. Palestinians need to pass through thousands of checkpoints to travel WITHIN their own territory. That's called occupying, not protecting. We're approaching the point where the Israeli hard right (Netanyahu and his band of fascists) are treating the Palestinians the way Hitler treated Jews in his country. The war in Gaza deliberately targeted civilians. It was murder.
leizuoer 9 months ago
@leizuoer They never deliberately targeted civilians. That is an utter fabrication from the left. Israel forces actually contacted the people in advance to warn them. They actually warned the civilians to get their things and leave before any action was taken. You have been indoctrinated by too much liberal media/educators. Israel is not evil and is not the enemy. There is more freedom in Israel than in any other middle east country. This belief that Israel doing anything wrong is truelly scary
bjrc1979 9 months ago
@leizuoer When a country fights a war...and wins...Is the area they won not theirs? Check up on your history. Jerusalem belongs to Israel. (Not to mention that if the current border were changed Israel would be basically defenseless against the Palestinians.)
Roseshavethorns44 4 months ago

SchutzStaffelWarrior 11 months ago
@SchutzStaffelWarrior Hitler did his "magic" by signing away the Weimar republic to the world's richest corporations and banks. That's what some mean when they call him fascist. He joined the State at the hips with the tyrannical corporations. ANd he was given a great amount of credit by bankers to do this. Essentially he privatized Germany, the antithesis of socialization. Fanta (Coca Cola front company) IBM (ran the death camp data records) Thyssen (industrialist laundered money in US) etc.
kassandrasduplex 11 months ago
@kassandrasduplex Excuse me, but the Weimar Republic was OWNED by Jewish Corporations and Banks... Hitler took the power out of the Jews hands and put Germany back in the control of Germans...

"From each according to his abilities, to each according to his need." not a bad ideal.
kassandrasduplex 11 months ago
@kassandrasduplex FDR was most definitely a Communist, and even admitted openly that the majority of his friends were Communists... IMF Bank and World Bank are owned by Communist Jews... You seem to be totally brainwashed about the accomplishments of the Germans vs. Jews... Jews invented nothing, they only steal and thrive off the creations of Non-Jews... Why did no country in the world want to take the jews when Germany was offering them when they wanted to deport them out of Germany?
SchutzStaffelWarrior 11 months ago
@SchutzStaffelWarrior Can you explain how the IMF and the World Bank are communist?
kassandrasduplex 11 months ago
@kassandrasduplex These institutions wish to level the playing field for all the world countries, making nations dependent on these institutions for their survival, whereas countries are forced to surrender their own sovereignty and control of their own currencies... America, for example does not even own its own currency... UN & IMF are in total control of the US Dollar... Any GLOBAL institution is a Communist institution... Including the UN, especially.

@5canesNatcham I don't think Obama sounds much like FDR, to be frank. Obama tries to be folksy and witty, FDR is more to the point. madtangerine 1 year ago
@5canesNatcham FDR purposely prolonged the depression and duped the Americans... SchutzStaffelWarrior 1 year ago
Roosevelt=socialism - Hitler=fascism
kassandrasduplex 1 year ago
@kassandrasduplex No they did not... You have all your facts wrong... Jews have been a problem throughout history in every country they've landed in, READ YOUR HISTORY!!! Roosevelt NEVER Backed Hitler's war machine, in fact, you will never see Hitler pictured together with those 3 mass murderer's who conspired WW2, Churchill, Stalin and FDR. FDR was a Traitor who declared the US bankrupt, called in the gold and repriced it from $20 to $35 per ounce.
SchutzStaffelWarrior 1 year ago
@kassandrasduplex You are correct though that Hitler is Fascism, and Roosevelt was Socialism (COMMUNISM)... We went to war on the wrong side... You should study pre-WW2 events carefully to understand how the war started. Germany was backstabbed by the Jews after WW1, and the Germans were left poor and destitute. Jews owned all the wealth of Germany and controlled the Berlin banks. They made Berlin the international drug & prostitution trade center of the world.

stanleythughes 2 years ago
@Oyo321 The World War helped because we went into accelerated war production after Pearl Harbor. If FDR had had his way, we would have gone into such war production long before Pearl Harbor, thus creating millions of jobs.
The reason the war was so arduous in those first years was precisely because certain conservatives in Congress thought it was a good idea to sit on our hands while the Fascists - who had no such reservations - ate up the rest of the free world.
elperromagico 1 year ago
@elperromagico America's long term economic success was not because of the temporary increase in production; it was the fact that America was able to sustain its production through the war period when other nations suffered the most developmental destruction. After WWII ended, America had a running start and was able to dominate the markets. That's my explanation, anyways.
muffin1102 1 year ago
@elperromagico You are VERY WRONG about the Fascists wanting to have eaten up the rest of the free world...

The results were the economy recovered in less than two years.

stanleythughes 2 years ago
I find it stunning that you need to have what is obvious to even a casual observer, let alone someone wanting to debate the subject. While the middle class has been caught in an economic vise, the financial industry that was supposed to serve them has prospered at their expense.
jimmydore 2 years ago
Consumer banking -- selling debt to middle class families -- has been a gold mine. Boring banking has given way to creative banking, and the industry has generated tens of billions of dollars annually in fees made possible by deceptive and dangerous terms buried in the fine print of opaque, incomprehensible, and largely unregulated contracts.
jimmydore 2 years ago
So do not borrow. No one forces people to get credit cards. Or if you get one heck don't use it or pay it off. Not really all that hard is it?
stanleythughes 2 years ago
And when various forms of this creative banking triggered economic crisis, the banks went to Washington for a handout.
All the while, top executives kept their jobs and retained their bonuses.
Even though the tax dollars that supported the bailout came largely from middle class families -- from people already working hard to make ends meet -- the beneficiaries of those tax dollars are now lobbying Congress to preserve the rules that had let those huge banks feast off the middle class.

Families understand with crystalline clarity that the rules they have played by are not the same rules that govern Wall Street. They understand that no American family is "too big to fail." They understand that their economic security is under assault and that leaving consumer debt effectively unregulated does not work.

the greatest statesman of the 20th Century. exactly what we need today. Instead we get Banker Barkey/Bailout Barkey.

Proabably the reason Goldman Sachs has to buy off politicians and plant people in the treasury.
flanksteak1 2 years ago
Economics in my opinion, is better thought of in units of work instead of money.
The money supply can increase and decrease but productivity is always the same (for arguments sake).
Credit is extended to build physical assets that society needs to live but credit should not be issued to purchase debt thus things like Hedge Funds are not allowed to exist.
flanksteak1 2 years ago

Think bigger when I am talking to you.
flanksteak1 2 years ago
Pay is not tied to productivity.

Americaisgreat123 2 years ago
Why do I need professioinal financial training in order to realize that Bankers are parasitic to the real economy?
I manage people.
And no, not a marxist sorry.
Think of me as hating JPMORGAN because he was a Rich Banker Parasite and Loving Henry Ford because he was a Rich Industrialist.

As a side note, my Aunt is an economist who sometimes writes articles for the CATO institute.
flanksteak1 2 years ago
Interesting, I am a big fan of the CATO institute. Does she subscribe to a particular school of thought?
I oppose the existence of The Federal Reserve and the FDIC. Bankers would hate to ever see either of those eliminated. Why?
Americaisgreat123 2 years ago
FDIC works when banking is regulated, FDIC does not work in a deregulated environment because rather than insuring customer's deposits, it essentially incentivizes risk and gambling with customer's deposits.
This is why before Gramm/Leech/Bliley, your neighborhood banks were not allowed to interact with investment banks I.E. sell them mortgages through SIV's.

She is a Shlaes protege and believes we are headed towards fascism (which I also believe).
She doesn't really have a strong political opinion but is against government intervention. PERIOD.
flanksteak1 2 years ago
By "Shlaes protege," I assume you are referring to Amity Shlaes who wrote "The Forgotten Man: A New History of The Great Depression." I think we're heading towards fascism too.

he couldnt fix the economy so war was the only way out of course it helped that most of his advisors were jews, like the one who wrote all of his speeches sam rosenman they were upset that the german economy quickly improved once jews were removed, for some reason jews cant stand a nation free of jewish domination (iraq iran)
barleyz3 2 years ago
so i suppose that you would have preferred that the Allies did not go to war and liberate the Jews from the concentration camp? ......Oh wait, you probably don't believe that the Holocaust even happened do you?
Travis1812 2 years ago
barley - Actually his new deal policies were working but the damage being so severe it took time.

Omega481 2 years ago
Omega - They are ignorant morons susceptible to right-wing propaganda, designed to undermine the SUCCESS of government intervention, when deregulated capitalism grinds the economy to a halt. History is repeating itself now, yet there are those on the right who refuse to let go of their failed, free market ideology.
phatcrackerr 2 years ago
This is a little offbase... It wasn't capitalism, it was crony capitalism... Capitalism means creating wealth from capital, our problems were caused because we created some wealth through leveraging of debt... and in regards to the regulations, there were 30,000 plus pages of them, and the investigators didn't find the fraud till the bubble burst... Then we have to look at where the money came from... cheap and easy credit... Bernie Madoff's fraud is no different than Social Security's
