Isn't Mr. Francescatti, as a musician, one of the greatest personalities? His tone, phrasing and beauty make him one of the greatest aristocrats in the world of violin playing.
ah, the Hart Strad. For me, the touchstone of the perfect violin! The Venus di Milo of violins! And noone draws a sound from this violin like Zino did.
Well said and you are very welcome! If you would like to see it with smoother video motion and better image, I have posted the same performance at higher resolution.
Have the Francescatti and Casadesus album of Beethoven sonatas on vinyl. For pure musicianship, emotion, and beauty. Zino is hard to match. I had never seen him play live although I have been a musician (guitar) many years. This is a real gift and thanks to the poster. When you lose a guy like tZino (1991), there is never a replacement whether it be in rock (Hendrix), jazz (Coltrane), country/Americana (Chet Atkins) or any other idiom. Just a freakin' genius RIP.
Wow...what a character! He was one of the greatest violinists. Also listen to his Saint-Saens' performance of the violin concerto #3. For shure you will be stunned.
This is some fantastiv video of Francescatti besides just sublime Beethoven--here we get different angles of Francescatti's bow arm, and what about the speed of trill captured? It was like the wing of a hummingbird! As the camera revolved around his face it also revealed the most emotion I have ever noted on his face as he played--I look forward to the rest of this video and as usual am indebted to you for sharing part of you fantastic collection!

I am always uplifted by the technique of Francescatti, especially the Beethoven. It was my first real entrance into the world of classical music.

Me quedé sin verlo en directo. Que pena!. Debió ser un sonido que te tiene clavado a la butaca.
