that is incredible!!! I have never seen anyone improvise like that in my life! I dont think he had heard it before either - I mean, he picked up on the tempo change quickly, but he didnt go in exactly, cos you could see he was suprised at the change!

Wow!!! I respected him a lot before, but now this just shows of the extent of his talent and I respect him so much more now!

I would say he heard it before because the very end of the song strays from the main structure of the song quite bit and he followed it exactly, so he had to have heard it before to do that...but it was still great playing and most of it was probably improvised.

no he didn't hear it.. I think the band and piano follow Rybak in his playing. The band and piano player are great improvisers as well, they improvise for years during this show, so maybe that's why the end and the structure changes and it sounds great!

5:16-5:27 is composed completely differently from the rest of the song and all the instruments go into it at the same time. Rybak would have to know about that change prior to playing the song in order to do that, unless he's psychic. I'd be willing to bet he heard this song at least once before playing on this show. And it's Rybak following the other instruments. All of them have played it before and supposively it's his first time. But I don't think so.

It is a rare talent to be able to improvise that extravagantly. Only the best musicians can do that.
