Get more LAPD on bikes patrolling. They can best issue summons (or warnings) for irresponsible drivers AND cyclists. Bike safety goes both ways.

1+ on what dmurphy04 said! Mr. Mayor, you can go a long ways by addressing aggressive driving. Also start putting some teeth in the drivers involved in hit and runs. All hit and runs, not just bike vs car. Louis Deliz's case is appauling!

How about taking this opportunity to pay more attention to establishing more bike lanes in our fair city? I've been riding my bike around the streets of LA for the last 25 years and it's been getting scarier and scarier to ride in traffic. PLEASE work with the city council and help make our fair weather city more bicycle friendly!

Mayor, you're welcome. Tough manner to arrive to thought on safety education for both the drivers and bicyclists. There are more than a few Officers, Students who work to help stay in shape out on their bicycles.  Along with small force on the beaches, in West Hollywood etc. Lovely for you to share your time.

Best of luck on a speedy recovery, Mr. Mayor. I couldn't agree with dmurphy04 more. Driver safety and education needs more attention. I can't tell you how much harassment I get on a weekly basis during my bike commute from drivers who are ignorant of the traffic laws.

Thanks -- please reach out to L.A. drivers directly, too, to encourage them to drive more safely around bikers. Perhaps a PSA like Chief Beck's would be in order at some point while you still have your cast on?
