  • the US version is awesome.

  • Without DoC Japan version.. you cannot play DoC US Version. pls don't call them sucky you idiot. maybe US just improved the game because they know they are not a hardcore gamer like in Japan.

  • The Us version is clearly better as we can see, except for one thing -

No DoC Online! The plot is far less interesting without the subplot that hold roots in the game.

  • the us ones too easy the japanese version is more challenging

  • This game was made to compete with Devil May Cry

  • why can't they just add english subtitles to these games? english voice acting sucks.

  • this actually introduced me to shooters

  • english voice doesn't suit him at all. Steven Blum has too many of the same voice for different characters. Snake and Wolverine are examples.

  • @starfox15 you realize Snake is voiced by David Hayter...

  • Japanese!!!!! Much better!!!!

  • hmm.. why did 99% of the games we play come into the market in japanese before english ?

  • because they are made in japan. the one percent are the makers that are not japanese

  • @Lingadil because they are developped in japan... for once.

Also, because we're lucky we get them at all... most of the games made in japan don't make it to the US

  • you said "Transformation"...............

    It's Limit Breaker lol

  • I liked Zack, Cloud, Vincent, Yuffie and Reno's english voice actors extremely better than the Japanese, personally.

  • i think some changes make the us and pal version better, but i like old-style limit breaks and japanese voicing, the story is more like it should be in japanese

  • i hate things dubbed in english.... -.- it SUCKS!!

  • Hey, I agree with you, dub version do suck. I like my anime in Japanese english subs

  • Same here *esp Clouds voice, it doesn't suit him at all*.

  • Oh man, I want this game T.T Unfortunately, I live in Norway, and far away from big towns, so it's not easy to get...

I prefer the Japanese voices, because I'm a fan of Japanese, but the English voices are also very good :)

  • Sorry, but japanese voices are a lot better than english voices =_=

  • Maybe I'm just Biased, but I thought Steve Blum did pretty well as Vincent.

I am a huge fan of the Japanese voice cast though.

  • i like the japanese voices more too but yeah that guy did a fkn good job as vincent.

  • Agreed.

  • Yeah and actually i gotta admit the english voice may get kinda annoying when heard alot because its rly low patched and sounds rly rough so sometimes it hurts my ears "kinda" the japanese one wasnt anything extra ordinary either.

  • Yeah I know what you mean, but never mention Clouds voice......... *worse voice ever*.... I mean when i heard the ending of Crisis Core I laughed instead.

  • lol yeah but i actually like the voice of this vincent in japanese damn couldnt have gotten the japanese version instead because of the gameplay minus'

  • yeah Vincents voice wasn't as bas other character, also I like Zacks voice also, since it wasn't as bad as other people.

  • i think zack was better in japanese also but i have the english ver te sounds funny in japanese abd i like that

  • @Psychicqueen He was excellent, a fine example that American voice acting can sometimes outdo the Japanese. Most of the time I prefer JP over NA for voices, but DoC is an exception. Tales of Vesperia is another example.

  • It's too bad they didn't give us the option of choosing between Japanese or English voices. Not that I hate the English voices, I just prefer Japanese.

Does anyone know of any patches or undubs made? I'd even settle for watching the game online with subtitles.

  • I've seen the high-detail cut-scenes in Japanese, but I couldn't tell you the title word for word right now. o_o

  • International version is put on the market in Japan on September 4.

The difficulty of Japanese version is high because it has narrow view.

    Milli fine-tuning cannot be adjusted.

if scope is removed, taking target is not smoothly.

    US version is better.

    I reserved International version^^

  • I upladed International version^^

  • Eh I like the Japanese version for the 1st person shooter cuz hey you can actually aim better + there's a online version.

  • I wish I could try the Japanese because mine is US version

  • lol America's like a child that needs constantly entertained if you know what i mean because thats y they made it better, also the Japanese like strategy Americans like action thats the way it goes

  • Or...the game just really sucked and needed these improvements.

  • Too bad that that you need a Japanese ps2 to play Japanese games.

  • IGPXer, there are quite a few ways to go about it to unlock region protections and read backups for example, but those ways involve some risks to the console and you can usually expect your warranty to be compromised. I didn't attempt anything on mine, though I admit the prospect is very tempting xD

  • This game was made for they who liked Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children!

  • WHAT?!?! it has multiplayer!?!?!

who can the other player play as then???

  • It's online multiplayer combat...

  • I'm not sure but I think the the online mode was removed from the western version of DoC and replaced with unlockable events. But in the DoC Online (Japanese version) you played as a Deepground soldier fighting your way up in hierarchy to become a Tsviet or something...

  • Or not, I'm not sure x)

  • umm... just my opinion but i think it's cait sith who's the other player... to darthiris

  • centraluv14, I was talking about the Online Mode (in the Japanese Version of the game only) in which we play as a DG/Tsviet woman. Cait Sith is the other playable character in Single Player Mode (which is the only Mode that made it to US/PAL versions).

  • Ah yeah, I'm sure now because I've played the game already (PAL version). But you can look here on YouTube for the Dirge of Cerberus Online FMV's. There's about 12 brief cutscenes - I've seen them already and they show us the playable character and a lot of background story to the Tsviets that unfortunately didn't make it to the US/PAL versions of the game.

  • sorry if i spammed you (not sure if it's me or you because i just refreshed the page).. but ok!

  • Japanese version has multi-player. >:[

  • My biggest problem is that the US version did not have the online gameplay... So basically, my PS2's ethernet was only utilized for RE:Outbreak.

  • Advent Children had 300% more cloud.

  • advent children had 3000% more cloud ^^

  • Zururu Zururu....

  • Well the game is about vincent

  • I completed the Euro version. It was a great game!

  • Hmm...Yuffie's voice in jap is better.

  • 'more palitable for american audiences'

    What he really means:

    Easier for crap gamers.

    :P

  • Aww, that's funny... :P

  • I like Vincents english voice, he sounds cool.

  • so why didn't you take the auto aim off?

  • japanese version iz better no doubt about it!

  • I HAVE U.S VERSION!! in Europe exists only U.S version!!

  • Lol, I beat the US version. Never played the Japanese version. It seems more realistic in the Japanese version, but the US version is better for game play.

  • yeah but nobody plays a final fantasy or any other counter-parts for realism :3 the japanese version sounds kinda bad

  • One thing that I can say, everything sound so cheap when I hear those English voices. That goes for animes too. Its best original unless the story is placed in US.

  • The limit breaker for the japanese one is better to me.

  • Wait...if it's more realistic...how come you can't shoot when you jump? Also, Vincent isn't that fast, except for in the cutscenes. Hell, I probably run faster..... Why are your complaints "it's MORE fun in the American version" & "it's more realistic in the Japanese version" (which, as I just explained, isn't the case)? I'm not seeing any sense in your arguments here....

  • Wrong. There were no Jenova cells actually used on Vincent or else he would have manifested Geostigma in Advent Children. Well, now that that otakunote is done, I'm glad you brought this up. I was getting sort of tired about all the complaints about the "sucky American version getting rid of the online mode." Not that I PERSONALLY care, but it's always good to have something in store to make the annoying whining around me stop.

  • thats cuz japs are smart

  • i liked the game... it had a good story like good graphics and best of all the whole group from final fantasy VII

the only thing i didnt like is sometimes i forget that its final fantasy

  • I love how they mention the double jump's usefulness, yet at the same moment you can't even reach that item! XD

  • The only reason you people like it better is that its easy to play and its more fun to beat the game. The japanese version is more realistic.

"1.2 times faster walking and running speed."

1.2 TIMES. WOW, big deal none of you can even run or jump at that speed.

"1st person aim changed to 3rd person."

Again... Can you do that in real life?

    "Faster firing speed."

Like I've said again japanese people are more realistic in gaming

The reason its better its for lazy ass players.

  • ok ok we get it, the japanese version is both emotionally and physically fulfilling in every way, but ask yourself one question, why would a fantasy game be made realistic, maybe you dont understand the concept of final FANTASY, as in a fantasy game, not a realistic world war 2 shooter like brothers in arms, this game was made not to be realistic, thats why you can turn into a warewolf when he reaches his limit break.

  • I am not talking about the actual concept. Ok look in other stuff. Ok I am gonna sound really stupid but in the gaming Harry Potter it was pretty realistic. NOT THE MAGIC SPELLS OR THE ANIMALS but Harry himself because he could only jump a certain distance and run etc. it makes the player (some of us atleast) feel like were in the characters shoes. Its trying to be realistic to make the person playing feel like their in the game.

  • i understand what you mean but when you follow the story line of final fantasy 7,vincent was genetically altered with jenova genes, just like cloud was, and look at teh type of things cloud did in advent children, the guy defies gravity on numorous occasions. on the otherhand, harry pottter is a normal kid aside from the magic, but hes still bound by gravity.

  • No, I probably can't run that fast. I also can't jump my own height from a standing position, which he can do in the Japanese version. I can't aim in third person, but I can't look over my own shoulder to aim in pseudo-first-person either, as you do in the Japanese version. And how is faster firing unrealistic? Some guns fire faster than others. And Japanese people prefer more realistic games? What, like the even *more* arcadey Devil May Cry series?

  • Hey! This game was made for they who liked Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children!

  • Dude. You don't know what the fuck you are talking about. How the flying fuck is there any difference at all? They're both the goddamn same, you elitist bastards. e_e

  • i liked the idea when they made the camera on shoulder view, now that usa had chaged it to area view. i have to brwose around, when i could've just turned around.

  • Well, all you illiterate bastards can have your half-assed dubbing, but I very much liked the original voices tyvm. They couldn't just put in the original voices with subs, they had to put in out of sync denotes to what was decent acting. Cid sounds like he stepped out of a trailer, Cloud sounds like he stepped out of middle-school, Yuffie sounds like she stepped on shit. These dubbing bastards are gonna pay, damnit!

  • I like Cid's US voice-over haha.

  • you only think it sounds like shit cause its your second language and you are comparing it to your first which you are more used to. its not better acting or worse acting, its jsut different types of acting, different languages havedifferent ways of expression.

  • the game sucked anyway.

  • Blah blah blah! The US version is better!!! XD

  • Couldn't say it better myself. XD

  • YAY! ^_^

  • The dude sounds like fucking Batman. I was so excited when I saw all the press releases saying that Gackt was going to play the voice of Vincent in an upcoming FF7 game. I think I'm not the only one that feels cheated by not having even the option of being able to play the game with the original voicing cast... Than... *than* Gaming TV stouts about how the American version has been dumbed down for the less capable, American audience. Yeah, like that hasn't been done before.. owell.

  • I kinda wished they left the limit gauge feature in, it felt kinda cheap using an item to trigger Vincent's limit break.

  • English >>> Japanese

  • Opinion noted. Say. How about while we're at it bring the Monna Lisa over here and make her look more American. We'll put a farmers hat on her with a wal-mart shirt on. And we can even have her look all dirty. Maybe put a few cheeseburger wrappers around her.

  • LMAO!! that's funny!!! i mean after all... the mona lisa WAS a MAN!!! LOL *sigh* not so pretty anymore, eh? XD

  • Well yeah, but I mean c'mon. This was Gackt. How many people who would have intent on buying this game know who Gackt is ? Gackt is awesome, and his voice is legendary.

  • AGREED!!! :highfives:

  • English is better because you understand it better. All you crazy, mother f*cking critics.

  • Japan Loves The U.S.A. :)

  • Sounds like the american kagome voice plays yuffie

  • the jap voice is much much better i've heard the english voice bah pretty crap but eh what u gonna do lol they've finalized it

  • Wow, now this helps alot. I'm definitely going to buy the game now!!

  • Gah! I hate Vincent's english voice!! The Japanese one is SO MUCH BETTER! Not to mention it's become, like, my most favorite voice ever. ^_^ <3 so gorgeous. Seeing what they've changed from the Japanese version, I'm glad I have the english one. ^_^

  • True.

  • xD good point...

  • y'know that always makes me wonder, how when we rag on english voice actors for being annoying, do the peeps in japan make fun of their voice actors? O.o hmmmm....

  • ok ok sure that the us version is better but, i still think the voice overall should be played in japanese

    with subtitles of course

  • IGN gave it a 7/10 rating..pretty decent, but hey its something never done before- Shooter RPG from a nation that 99% of the populace doesnt place shooters(Japan)

  • must kill yuffie voice actor (after i kill aerith's voice actor in kh 2) other than that hope cloud has some parts in it besides that one... oh well GOOOO VINCIENT!!!

  • Umm judging by the voice is the exact voice that Zabuza Momochi has in the U.S. Naruto anime.

  • XD HOLY CRAP! I've never actually heard the comparison between the Japanese Version of Vincent voice and the English. But wow. O.o

Vincent's voice is hot in Japanese.

I've never realized how raspy and gruff he sounds in english.

Like he's been smoking too much or something. xDDD

O.o But I still like both versions of his voice.

    <3

  • Steve Blum has the hottest voice.

  • mmm...smexyyyy

  • Agreed. <3

  • I also prefer the Japanese, but as long as Vincent has a main role in something, I don't really care.

I always did think it was a shame that he was 100% optional in the original FFVII.

  • The english one sounds the same as Auron, well reasonably Vincent and Auron are both done by the guy who did Spikes voice in Cowboy Bebop..

Anyways, I think the reason they were optional was because they werent much space in the disks to accomodate anymore..

But Doc is Vincent And Yuffie's game...well partially Yuffie's.. so its a sort of a tribute to them being optional

  • Steve Blum does Vincents voice Matt Mckenzie does Aurons there not the same person. Steve Blum Does Spike from Cowboy Bebop.

  • i prefer japanese version T_T

Vincent's voice is so sexy, and Yuffie's is so cool!

    SIGH T_T

  • I agree that Vincents voice is smexy in the japanese version.. but hell, what are you gonna do?

and yeah, Yuffie is the hawtness!!
