  • my condolences too, Michelle / Smushie. Your Mom's hella proud of you for sure.

  • aww michelle I'm so sorry.....my aunt just passed away so i know kind of how you feel......if my mom passed away i don't think i would be talking to people for years......trust me your mom will be watching you.... and if there is anything i have learned or understood from LOST (the show) is that everyone that has died waits in a purgatory state until everyone is ready to move on together :D

  • wow...you made me think....This is the first video of yours I´ve seen so far, but I´m subscribing...and looking forward to see more of your videos :) my best friend died back in april and I just wanted to say that when you said love them while you can, I couldn´t agree more...

  • Michelle, I am so sorry for the loss of your Mom !!! I thought she was a really wonderful woman and I know she will be missed by eveyone who has ever met her !! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers xoxo Michele Segarra (Nicole Ferguson's Mom)

  • This video and your strength are amazing. Losing someone close to you might be one of the hardest things in the world to do ..My thoughts and prayers are with you. <3

  • Great video. I lost my Dad in July suddenly. He was only 60 and had a heart attack. By the way, I'm glad that you and Justin post videos because they exude happiness. That's such a great thing :)

  • I am very sorry for your loss, I have been following your videos for a little bit. You are very inspiring. I know what it is like to lose a loved one to a brain tumor. My dad passed away from a brain tumor a few years ago. Keep the strength. Your video Breathe was very pretty btw.

  • My condolences to you and yours.

  • I'm so sorry for what happened. I wish you a great year and strength always.

    Vitoria

  • that was my birthday. While I was celebrating terrible sad things were happening in the world. It really puts things in perspective. I'm so sorry.....my prayers are with your family

  • my mother passed away in april 2009 after some years in lung cancer.

I know what it means with the cancer shit.My thoughts are with you..

  • You're a really respectable person and i really admire you. I'm also very sorry for your loss.

  • "Funerals, I decided, are for the living." -Hazel Lancaster, John Green's The Fault In Our Stars

  • this made me really sad :,( i hate it when people die too early.

it's never going to be easy to loose the ones you love, but i admire the way you handle the situation and how objective you can already talk about the relationship to your mom.

your mom sounds like an awesome person, but you are an awesome daughter as well!

    lots of love from germany

  • No words ever make this situation any better, but know that people are wishing you peace and healing...

  • condolences to your's, love and light sweetheart. Grief takes its own time

  • i dont really have any thing to say just smiling non stop!

  • I want to say I'm sorry that she passed away, but I dont want it to sound like it's a forced tradition. I want to think of all great things that you told us about and that you can grow from experiences that seem tragic not because you want to forget or don't care, but because at some point, the person you lost would want you to move on. And you are a living and breathing example of how such wisdom can come from a lost beloved. I wish your family blessings, and thank you personally for sharing.

  • <3 <3 <3 <3

  • I look up to you and Grace so much. And I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Your advice is great and you are a beautiful person. Keep on keepin' on.

  • Wow Michelle that was a really nice video I'm sorry for your loss I know exactly how you feel and everything you is not 100% but 200% correct I lost my dad 8 months ago it kills me to think he ain't ever coming back but know this when you said your mum was an amazing woman I believe it because you are the proof of that :) I guess the saying is true then huh you don't know what you got till its gone :\ xx

  • clubs are stupid

  • Let me just say that I have an immense amount of respect for you. Perhaps it is because I am younger, but my mom passed away almost a year ago and I was in shambles for months. I went from having this loving, protective, and comforting person in my life, who raised my and my two siblings single-handedly for most of my life, to having an emptiness. Your video has inspired me, Michelle. I want to think more of the goodness my mother gave me, instead of the fact that she is gone. Thank you.

  • Why does this have dislikes..

  • @BethXCoree some people just have no hearts

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. The pain must be so intense but even though you will always miss her as much as you do now, you will learn to deal with the pain. Trust me, it doesn't get better but it gets easier.

  • i lost my grand father when i was 5 he was a great man he was amazing and i just saw his once in my hole life :(

  • I was without internet & computer for a few weeks so I'm really behind on most everything atm. I'm sure you already know this, but some days will be better than others in the next several months. Just know that your mom helped make you into a strong enough person to weather the emotional storm ahead. Lost my dad years back, and had many of the same thoughts you've expressed here.

  • Sorry to hear the bad news. Glad you're back on youtube.

  • Thank you! I'm very sorry for your loss of your mom from this mortal life, and I'm really impressed by your relationship with her. She sounds like a wonderful person. May God bless you.

  • My mom's birthday is in 2 days and I had decided to make her something since I don't have money to buy her anything. I was going to write her a letter telling her how much I appreciate all she has done. And watching this video makes me want to write it even more, I have tears in my eyes as I type this. If anyone else can, tell you mom you love her that you appreciate her. Don't wait until time is limited to tell her all these things.

  • Not sure what to say but that was BEAUTIFUL

  • Thank you for sharing this moment with us. It really made me think about my relationship with my mom and how I don't always appreciate her. She's going to wake up to a long text in the morning. Thank you, Michelle.

  • Thank you for sharing this w/the YouTube world. Very inspiring :)

  • <3 This was inspirational.

  • Absolutely beautiful statement. I'm so sorry for your loss.

  • I knew your mom was diagnosed with cancer, but I didn't she passed. Sorry for your loss. I lost my mom young too.I was 21, she was only 47. It was mainly due to smoking. She had so many problems and was sick for about a year before she passed. No one that it was that bad, us her, the doctors. then the last month things got a lot worse. It made it better knowing she wasnt suffering anymore. And realizing how many people she impacted. So many old friends of mine and my brothers showed up to the...

  • @scootsie119 ..wake and funeral. even ones we didn't get a long with anymore. A lot of the hispanic kids from our projects came to pay their respects too. It was hard to get around. I always knew our friends liked our parents, but didnt realize how much.

No parents are perfect, but your mom seemed like a great one. She reminds me of my dad, someone we all go to for answers. Most friends respect my dad more than their own.

I hope things get better for you.Your mom did a great job raising you.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this video. Your words are those that many would say, they could not describe. You have an incredible way of sharing your thoughts and opinions and all of which are delightful to watch/listen to. My heart goes out to you and your family. Stay Strong because even though I don't know you, I can see you are a strong person :) <3

  • This was such a beautiful video, thank you for sharing.

  • *hugs*

  • my mom passed away when i was 10. you were so lucky to have an incredible mother for as long as you did :)

  • <3

  • Thank you, for this.

  • Well said Michelle!

  • I am so soryy for your loss. My mom smokes and i rarely get to see her, and last night, i had a nightmare she died and woke up balling my eyes out. I send wishes toyou and your family. Also, your video made me realize more about my parents. And made me cry xD but Thank you. So. Much -3

  • Moms are awesome!

  • So awesome. I really feel like going and hugging my mom right now :P

  • I agreed with everything you said in this video.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. I know you and your family had been going through some tough times with your mom and her illness. I hope you and your family are doing well and that time will heal some of the hurt from your loss. I'm glad you found a way to express your feelings. I'm sure your mom was and still is proud of you.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss of your mother! She sounds amazing, and you are too!

  • I'm sorry for your loss Michelle

  • im so sorry <3

  • Thanks for the video. Your an amazing person. :)

  • I am so sorry for your loss Michelle. Your mother sounds like a wonderful parent, even if you eren't the closest of people. my mother passed away when I was 14, from her alcoholism. I know how you feel. Stay strong!<3

  • Michelle is one smart cookie! Most impressive is the fact that she is able to identify & understand all of these human things at still such a young age.

  • i think posting this online is perfectly acceptable and appropriate. and i think, out of anyone on youtube, you speak eloquently enough and genuinely enough in ALL of your videos (not just this one about your mother) to make your mom proud. you are such a wise, wonderful, real person. which is why your viewers love you. without ever knowing your mom, you can see her spirit shine through you in each of your videos. you're great michelle.

  • I'm sorry for what I heard. I hope you're feeling okay.

  • So good to see you back in the game. Ooh Poncho.. you dog.

Personally, I've grown this slight fear inside me when it comes to parenting. Everyone I know (almost, at least in my age) has kids so when I eventually will have one, I will be the biggest newbie around. I know I'll do great but there's still that hesitation, which you mention.

    /M

  • Michelle you turned out amazing, thanks to your mom. Your videos actually have great meanings to them.

  • @rangermaverick85 Why not?

  • @FartWithHeadphonesOn Yeah, seriously? Why not? I'd love to know. I actually think self-expression and connecting with others through hard times is one of the best uses we've found for the Internet.

  • @FartWithHeadphonesOn Exactly... 'Why not?'... My thoughts are with you...Poignant video.

  • @rangermaverick85 I mean this might be delicate but if she feels comfortable sharing with us, what's wrong with that? Have you consider the fact that she might just want support from us? I couldn't bare with the pain of loosing my mother so I would want to hold on to any good thing in my life. Also I feel like this is some kind of tribute for her. Rest in peace. I send you all my love and hope you find strength.

  • @rangermaverick85 this is a pathetic and completely unsuitable comment to make.

  • @rangermaverick85 I understand what you're saying, but this is her personal vlog channel.

When my mom passed her sisters wanted to make her a facebook or myspace. My brothers, father and I were opposed to it.I know how the internet act when they see stuff like that.

Theres nothing wrong with posting a vid or writing a blog about someone who meant so much to you who isn't here anymore. Through this video her moms spirit and story will live on forever. It's inspirational and helps others.

  • @rangermaverick85 the web is what you make it

  • really honest and very true :)

  • <3

  • how can anyone dislike this??

  • @goosey46 Drugs can make people do terrible things.

  • Beautiful. Thanks for sharing with all of us <3

  • Thank you everyone for sharing your stories and for the lovely messages <3

  • I started playing this and forget I had opened the Burning Man video you liked at the same time, and the first 15 seconds actually match up kind of good. Also, I suspect you might be a redditor?

  • @hokiehi11 hah thanks, I'll have to test that myself. and yes, I am :)

  • Great, heartfelt expression. Thank you for this.

  • Well said!

  • im so sorry for your loss! you are a wonderful person and so strong <3

  • You are so mature and awesome about these things. I wish the best to you in your future...

  • Your mother sounds amazing. No wonder you are who you are.

  • I feel sorry for you losing your mom, be safe..

  • I have always liked your videos and a big part of the reason is your attitude toward others and life in general it sounds like you got a lot of that from your mom, I am sorry for your loss but the good things she passed on live on through you.

  • I know how you feel, my aunt passed away on the 17th of December from brain cancer... it was really hard t deal with, but loosing a mother is much more difficult. I send my condolences and I hope you are alright, you have many people on here that love and support you!

  • Thank you for sharing, all the best.

  • ♥ ♥ ♥

    °Sara°

  • You are amazing!!♥

she would be very proud of you!!!!(:

  • U were very lucky 2have a mom like that. I lost my mom just before I started hs, so I know a little of what u feel. Nice words.

  • Good. Grief. I feel like you are saying the very things that are in my heart about my OWN mom, both in this video and in your mother's eulogy. Spot on.

  • im living the same moments u lived with ur mom right now... and i love it... =)

  • Less than a month since she passed, have alot of strength to be able to talk and be open about your mum so soon after she's gone. Clear got that strength from her :)

Without doubt, she'd be very..very proud of you, no end of positive helpful and informative videos have seen from you & is clear your mum can be attributed to the good heart you have. Having a glass a wine for ya mum :)

  • I don't remember subscribing to this channel...

  • @takovarra Cool story bro.

  • Michelle, you're such an inspiration. I love you and your videos - thanks for everything. :)

  • omg thank you for putting this up, I'm 22 and my mom and I are constantly arguing and it just keeps getting worse. I know she's a good person but at times I feel like idk she's too annoying and controlling. I'm sorry about your mom passing away, cancer is a terrible thing. but she sounds like a super mom, and you've learned a lot from her, I am glad that your view/feelings/opinion about her changed, wherever she's at she knows how you truly feel towards her <3 thank you

  • Wow. That was beautiful <3

  • sorry to hear she passed away on my birthday ;(

  • Great message. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thank you for sharing this.

  • <3

  • Very sorry for your loss, I experienced the loss of my mom over 7 years ago and as hard as it is to go through, in a way it inoculates you from life's problems. The hardest thing life can throw at you is the death of your mom... after that it's all cake. It will get better, hang in there!

  • omg this is so touching ! <3 love you, stay strong ! *HUGS*

  • Who the F*CK dislikes that? Makes me so F*CKING ANGRY! You're amazing, Michelle

  • <3

  • Stay strong bb <3

  • I love your insights, do not stop to making these videos. I loved your Vedas as well.. They really just make me think of what I'm thinking I'm doing and what is actually happening with my life (two different things). It's like other kind of perspective that you are giving to me. I appreciate this so much. Usually sitting on youtube really doesn't make you a better person, but you are so much different. I'm not forcing you to make only "heavy content", but whenever you feel like it, share it :)

  • You are so strong for making this video. You may be blessed to have had such a great mother, but she sure as hell is blessed with a daughter like you, too. Stay strong, all the best to you and your family. We love you! x

  • All the best miss

  • <3

  • I'm so sorry for your lost. I wish I could give you a hug because I know what the lost of a parent feels like. *HUG*

  • Who ever disliked this video is a douche! I lost my brother suddenly not all that long ago and you are very very correct about appreciating people while you still have them.

  • So Grace and Michelle are also a part of me. Wow. Awesome.

I'm sorry about your mum, I just hope when I'm older I still don't think my mum is annoying. As I am still 15 and pissed off most of the time...

  • my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family :(. she sounds like such a wonderful mum! hopefully she's in a better place now where she can no longer suffer xx

  • you are absolutely incredible, I just want to meet you and talk to you and give you a massive hug. your mum sounds amazing, and this video's made me realise how much I should appreciate my parents too. thankyou so, so much.

  • is anyone else ever reminded of cancer everyday, or 'signs' just pop up when walking through life?

  • Beautiful video, your such a strong role model.

  • I got something in my eye while watching this. What a crazy random happenstance!

  • Hearing you talk about your mom reminds me a lot of my dad, who passed away October 2nd 2011. The eulogy was the hardest thing to ever write, but while thinking about it I realized how amazing of a person he was. If I could, I would give you all of the hugs.

  • Your video today is the most real video I have seen in a while. No one really appreciates anything until you don't have it anymore. You don't love someone until you don't have them around. You're a strong and brave woman to put up such a video and I thank you for it. :) xoxo

  • Hi Michelle, I don't know if you remember me from VidCon, but my name is Jeremey and you recommended "The Art of War," to me... let me just say the book was absolutely AMAZING! Thank you so much for the excellent recommendation! But why I am sending you a message here is because 1. I lost your email address and 2. I saw your video today. It literally broke my heart. My mother had lung cancer for 6 years of my life then got leukemia. When she died it was the hardest thing I have ever been through

  • She sounds like an amazing woman. Thank you for this video. I'm so sorry about your mum -3

  • <3

  • Thanks for sharing. You are an incredibly strong women. I can't thank you enough.

  • you are amazing..

  • Love ya Michelle

  • That was really amazing.

  • Michelle, you are my hero.

  • oh shit.. much love to you, Michelle.

  • real shit.

  • My condolences. And, by experience, I agree. You have a good head on your shoulders and a big heart for putting up this wonderful video. Thanks.

  • Love you Michelle, your mum raised an awesome, wonderful young lady.. What an amazing legacy she left in you.. <3

  • Well spoken Michelle. Your mom raised one very amazing young woman.

  • Very wise young woman, Michelle. I really am sorry for your loss, as I too, came really close to losing my Dad.

Keep your chin up, as you are, and keep those fond memories of your Mum close to your heart.

    Best Wishes, Nate. :)

  • Michelle, you are beyond wonderful. I seriously started crying halfway through this post. Everything you said was just so...human. So perfectly human and it was beautiful. Can I hug you? lol. I live in Cherry Hill, so if you're ever in the area! haha

  • i apparently need a tumblr now

  • Thank you Michelle.

  • We look at people and sometimes wonder how they came to be that way... until we meet their parents. Parents are THE most important people in our lives and we become their incarnates and we never notice them.

Everything they do is for us, and this would probably go with your mom too, Michelle. I'm sorry Michelle. Your mom sounds awesome!

Again, I'm sorry and it seems you've moved on a bit. It's probably really hard but you've got Molly, Grace, and Justin and others to help you through! I <3 YOU!

  • This is really sweet and I'm so sorry about your loss.

I hugged my computer screen. Feel the love, Michelle.

  • Guardian. I don't know if any other word could accurately express what a parent should be. Far more personally invested than a teacher, far more expansive guidance than mentor. Molders, preservers, creators of life physical, psychological, and spiritual.

  • Sorry about your mom

  • Thank you Michelle! Never forget:your Mom made you an excellet human being.

  • I have realized my mom is amazing when she died. I was twelve.

  • why does this video have a dislike...?

  • You are so young but have gained an old soul... Tom Hanks

  • just like in our emails..ur awesome :) keep ur head up x

  • Wow.. thank you for the reminders. Praying for the comfort of you and your family.

  • I'm going to share this with my mom, my son, my friends and anyone else who will watch. You are a very strong person and I admire you, Michelle. Im very sorry for your loss.... Your mother raised an amazing woman!

  • I read your confidence blog that led me to smush21. Your a very talented women. I can see why your mom was so proud. :-)

  • I think this was the 1st time I have ever cried from a youtube video. I just finished my 1st semester in college; 1st time I have been away from my parents for an extensive period. I have recently realized how much they have done for my brother and I and still do (monetarily, emotionally). I love, care, and respect them dearly. This video has made me realize I should tell them this sooner rather than later. I'm sorry for your loss and thank you so much for sharing something so personal. <3

  • you're amazing.

  • I remember when I got my first full-time job I suddenly realised how unbelievably impressive it was for my parents buy me food, toys and give me all their spare time... (i suspect they used some kind of cloning device)

  • I don't know what it's like to lose a parent. But the things you said in this video were so relatable. Everything you said about your mom seemed so true, and I know she was a wonderful lady because I can see how wonderful of a person you are

Your video has a wonderful message and I am going to try to take the advice that you said/implied because I think we have to love the people that influence us while they're around. Because one day, they will be gone

Thanks for sharing. You are an inspiration

  • This is beautiful. Thank you :)

My condolences for your mom's passing

  • fart who well done

  • i was about to comment a sleazy little brain dead comment about your body because i came across this video super bored but im glad i stopped and watched the video

because your situatiion with your mom was almost the exact same thing with my dad

so for this video i thank you and appreciate your thoughts on your mom

it helps me look back on my relationship with my dad

  • a real video, this is what makes inter... alive Moms are the best ever

  • I love you.

  • bravo ! thank you.

  • Your mom sounds a lot like mine, my mom has a brain tumor (her 2nd one) and throat cancer. Im sorry for your loss and thank you for sharing, makes me feel less alone <3

  • Thank you Michelle. I lost my Dad three years ago. I fought with him for 40 years, but I loved and respected him. He too was amazingly strong, and strong willed. This made it difficult for him to say the good things - to encourage. I understand why you couldn't say how you felt until your Mom left you. The space in which you were able to put those words was the last gift she gave you. Well, probably not the last, because we often remember things they told us, and learn the lessons later...

  • Beautiful. I am so sad you lost your mom, but it's extremely refreshing to see someone pull positivity out of something so devastating rather than sinking into a deep and unconquerable depression. You are fantastic.

  • ***HUGS***
