Dick Clark was an extremely busy man during 1984, as he was hosting three, largely popular TV shows on three, different major networks! He had the legendary "American Bandstand" on ABC, "TV's Bloopers & Practical Jokes" on NBC, and, of course, "The New $25,000 Pyramid" on the Eye Network, CBS. :-)
Because his single season on "SNL" made his stock rise dramatically and he just became to busy with movies and stand-up appearances to drop by the studio.
Man, he's good. I used to say that Vicki Lawrence was the best game show player (celebrity) there was, but Billy Crystal was just HOT HOT HOT on Pryamid.
LOL, ok, you got me! Right, but, IIRC, I think like during the first few episodes of the first season on CBS, there was no "NEW" in the name. It was just the $25,000 Pyramid briefly.
For the first seven weeks of the CBS run, it was simply "The $25,000 Pyramid." Starting with the eighth week and ending in early 1985, it was "The NEW $25,000 Pyramid."
Well Dick Clark has been improving the last time he was on New Year's Rockin' Eve, but we just have to pray to the good lord for him to be fully recovered.
Winning contestants...smart celebrities...a great game show...a brilliant host...Fernando's guests...

Random thought... If this was 1984, why did he never return?

I've been a Pyramid watcher since it debuted in 1982 (regarding my almost 27-year life) on CBS.

You mean a New $25,000 Pyramid watcher, right? :)

I so wish Dick hadn't had that stroke of his. He is in terrible condition as proved on the New Year specials.

Let's continue to pray for him.

Have you been praying for him? I certainly have.

Billy Crystal, pure class!
Not trying to advance his own career, rather, actually win for the contestants.

This never aired on GSN, right?

That's right. Just CBS and USA in reruns.

did he win $25000 for someone on this show?
DJLOVETRAIN1620 3 years ago
I don't know for sure. He did win $10,000 for a contestant on another clip here (30 seconds to boot).

Lost a little time on the first category, but a great win overall.

This reminds me of the glory days of the USA Cable Network :).

Billy Crystal was by far the ultimate Pryamid player. Near perfect clues for anything that came up. He was the BEST!

If was a contestant on Pyramid anytime between 1977 and 1984, I would MOST DEFINITELY want Billy Crystal as my partner!:)
