where ‘corporations are people’ and it costs about a billion dollars to s/elect a puppet president. USA! USA! US of A rapacious military empire garrisoning, invading, occupying and plundering the globe, ‘exporting democracy’ (installing dictators and propping-up client/police states), 'nation building' (expanding the empire), ‘liberating the people’ (of their oil/resource wealth), et al... ad nauseam.
American exceptionalism… it’s enough to give imperialism a bad name.
Every country has it's bigots and ignorant people, though some americans seem proud of their ignorance ( I aint gonna read durin a movie). On the other hand, europeans who make comments about americans all being stupid are too ignorant to understand how bigoted they are being, while also failing to realize that the IQ of the average citizen, in every country, is rather low. It's a small fraction of any country that could be considered truly 'intelligent' or 'smart'. Ignorance knows no borders.
@H20654 Whatever. It's not "the French" or "the US", it's war. VN prisoners have been tortured, killed, thrown off helicopters and planes by both French and American military in those wars.
@dextertheninja For sure. Theres no doubt he had alot of adrenaline pumping which some call better then crack so I can understand why he seems so happy with himself. When that adrenaline wore off im sure he wasnt so happy with himself
@TheStegosarusarmy 1) Your jokes are old and boring. 2) No, this nation is not famous for that, but it was just the butt of some jokes by right-wing (ie extreme right) assholes in 2003 and after on late night shows, hate websites and foxnews and such. Big difference. All jokes and allegations of cowardice and stereotypes have been debunked and replied to over and over and over and over and over many times. Look it up. You are the one that's mad. Ppl like me will fight ignorance & stupidity.
@H20654 "Known for that" doesn't mean it's true. Many things are said about the French (and other nations) that turn out to be untrue when you look at the figures. Word "stereotype" mean anything to you?
@Onaryc59 Does the word stereotype mean anything to you? I guess you fail to see the hypocrisy in responding to some idiots making generalizations about everyone in a certain country by you yourself doing the same thing. It just goes to show that america isn't the only country with willfully ignorant people in it. Europeans who make blanket statements about all americans are just as fucking ignorant as the people they are attacking. Your racist warning against racists is hilarious though.
It kind of reminds me of people who work in slaughterhouses; after awhile you become completely immune to the violence and cruelty follows very easily after this because of the fact that they've become so desensitized to the violence; they simply see it as doing their job and doing it well.
@THUD086 I know them all, kid. Don't bother. And the one about speaking German, I & ppl like me already replied to it back in 2003 at the height of anti french sentiment in the US (remember freedom fries? ha ha, what assholes you all were & still are). You know what we replied to that one? The obvious: "If it were not for the French, Americans would be speaking good English today!". Now that's funny, because it's true. & the French would never speak German: the German would speak French!!! :D
@hopeurforfreedom You surrender jokes have never been funny (except to the ignorant yankees of course). Like jokes? This (French) guy is caught fucking a dead woman on the beach on the French riviera. He's taken to court, and the judge says to him, "how could you do such a disgusting thing?", and the guy says "but your Honor, I thought she was American!" Ha ha ha.
@hopeurforfreedom The economy doesn't fight wars. People and equipment do. And the US military couldn't and didn't fight in 39-40. Cant you just DEAL with it? Best armed forces in 39: Germany. And that's final. It took several countries to beat them, on several fronts, including the US, even after it was battered by years of fighting and had a low morale. And you still think the US could have beaten it single-handed in 39. Please, don't make me laugh.
@THUD086 You bore me now ppl. I'm tired of replying to the same stuff year after year. You extreme right-wing yankee assholes have been kicked on various forums & newsgroups for years now. You were wrong about everything, & the French were right. WMDs in Iraq, connection between Iraq and 911, and so many other things in economy, environment, and so on. It makes me yawn. And if you knew what my diplomas are, you wouldn't act so proud when you talk to me. And I speak a foreign language. Do you?
@CompactJam Yep. Try to explain that to the war buffs who leave comments here. Let's see how much they will love war when the bombs fall on their houses and loved ones. They probably cannot even grasp what it would be like for them, but I have people in my family who can. When you have that, you get an entirely point of view on war. Not some kind of heroic video game, but what is actually is. Those who talk about war the most are usually the people who know the least about it.
@Onaryc59 He's horrific. Especially in his assumptions that ever target he hits was hostile. I come from a country riven by civil war where people are burnt alive and there's nothing fun or clever about these kinds of horrors. I was also a scared soldier with a big gun once and I know precisely what makes a good soldier and it is not taking gratification in the suffering of anyone, even a uniformed enemy. Obviously I wouldn't really wish anyone to bomb his family. He's a disgrace to humanity
101327, you are a peacenik pussy. What do think the VC did to villagers that helped the ARVN or US troops. Go order a sald you vegan, O'Bama and Kerry supporting queer!
@45trsrf101 Hey I'm a peacenik too if that means peace loving. I was a paratrooper once if you think that makes me a hippy or soft and weak like you. What this man is doing by taking pleasure in the suffering of others is not operational or good warcraft. He's just a psychopath shielded by a force that wants him on board to fulfill their killing tasks. Sadly every war throws up scum like this. Now perhaps you'd like to explain to the rest of the class why you hate gay people.
@CompactJam I'm for peace too, except when I'm in a war against savages that have no respect for human life or suffering. In that event, those people deserve the same. Just like the Al Qeida that killed innocent children and civilians on 9/11, the VC committed enumerable atrocities, and you can bet your pussy ass their followers loved it. You were never a paratrooper or you would have mentioned your unit, and you certainly have ever served in a war zone. You're the pussy, democrat.
@45trsrf101 As Jack Nicholson accurately stated in the movie "A Few Good Men," "You need me on that wall, you want me on that wall." War is evil and immoral and it is ignorant to expect moral rules for war to be heeded. We won WWII in Europe and Japan by bombing millions of civilians. The NV didn't honor the Geneva Convention, terrorists won't either. The soldier willing to do anything to win, wins. With soldiers like u we lose. Hesitate in your moral quandry and you get a bullet in the brain.
@45trsrf101 "We won WWII in Europe". No. The Russians did. The Allies on the western front were a sideshow, a diversion (The russians killed 80% of german soldiers). And the US were less than 50% of western allies too. You Yanks need to stop believing the fairy tale propaganda that makes you feel so good about yourselves, and learn some real History. And btw, in "A Few Good Men", that colonel or whatever he was is supposed to be an asshole, and proves to be one in the movie.
@Onaryc59 Don't pull that "yank" crap on me you Limey wharf scum. You clearly are not part of the Britain's aristocracy and are not educated. You are jealous of Americans because we have better teeth. The U.S. was a diversion for the Eastern front too, moron. Eisenhower graciously allowed the Russiand to enter Berlin first. Hitler committed more troops to Eastern front to get raw materials to have a chance of winning on the western front.
@45trsrf101 Ha ha, I'm not a Brit. Once again a yank is completely wrong about something not american. I'm worse than a Brit (in your eyes only). And your denial about History is pathetic, but that was expected.
@45trsrf101 The Gospel According to Saint Jack - heheheh. You really are funny. Who needs an eduction if you have Hollywood hey? Carry on dreaming after all it is the American destiny to dream. That's what America sells isn't it? An American Dream. Go back to sleep and it will be OK when you wake up. XXXX
@45trsrf101 9/11 was nothing compared to any war. You make a big deal of it because that's the only recent big violent thing you've known on your territory. Try twenty 9/11s every day for months. That's real war. That's why normal ppl who have known it or know ppl who have known it hate war and war nuts. When you have known that kind of situation you can come back here and tell ppl like us we're pussies. You are the worse kind of pussy: the self-righteous one who thinks he's not one.
@Onaryc59 Don't claim experience just because even France has successfully invaded Britain before. I don't love war, but when I'm in one, I'm going to love winning, dumbass. It's kill or be killed and you can bet your limey ass, I'll be happy killing rather than letting my comrades get killed. Did you pussies hold prayer vigils for the Nazis when you were hiding in the subways. Obviously, you were not there, twirp. Go worship Elvis Costello.
@45trsrf101 There's a fine line (actually, a thick line) between winning a war and getting high on killing people, which is what the point of this vid. Which you missed completely, of course. And btw, where was the US in 39? Doing business with Nazi Germany (like GW Bush's granddad!) and keeping Jewish refugees from Germany out of the USA. Only when victory was certain did the US go to war, as usual. In 39, no eastern front (soviet-german pact), in 42, most of the war was on the eastern front.
@Onaryc59 Where was the U.S. in 1939? Same place it's always been.
Oh, you mean the war that you Europeans got yourselves into.
Let me clue you in on something. The war that started in Europe in 1939, was just that : Europes war, not the U.S.'s. It was just another war in the long line of wars Europe has engaged in long before the U..S. ever became a country.
Are you forgetting, that it was the U.K. & France that declared war, then attempted to wage war on Germany in 1939, not vice versa.
@THUD086 Stalin-Hitler pact : most German troops in the west. Fresh troops, high morale. The US stay put. No intervention. Later, no more Stalin-Hitler pact. Most german troops sent to eastern front to fight, more and more tired, low morale, war of attrition. Few troops in the west, unexperienced. The US join the Brits (less than 50% of the Normandy troops were US). Of course, the same US who would have never defeated the german army of 39 still claim victory years later. Give me a break.
@THUD086 He certainly was doing business with people in that country. But hey, that's business. And the US also hired Von Braun, Hitler's rocket designer, for their space program. Money, as we say in French, has no odor.
@Onaryc59 First of all, yes, France & the U.K. had a mutual defense pact with Poland, not the U.S. Which also begs the question, when the Soviets invaded Poland two weeks later, why wasn't war declared on the Soviet Union as well?
Second, you claimed that when the U.S. entered the war, it was already won without us. So tell me, just what victories did the allies attain prior to December 11, 1941?
That's the timeline I want you to show me. What victories were achieved prior to our entry?
@THUD086 Third, D-Day, had more Americans than any individual country. When you account for the British, you're probably counting their empire troops as well, mostly Canadian. Have you also forgotten that the U.S. was doing ALL the heavy lifting in the Pacific theatre then? And prior to D-Day, we were in Africa and Italy also. Doesn't count for anything?
And Onaryc, when the war ended in Europe, the U.S. had over 60 divisions on the ground in Europe. The U.K. and its empire combined, had 29.
Here, I'll clue you in. P.Bush was a bank employee with a bank in NYC that just happened to have an account for German steel magnate Fritz Thyssen. He had accounts in both the U.S. & Holland. Several wealthy Germans did, they wanted to keep their wealth away from Hitler. Sounds right.
Just because he had the account in the same bank as P. Bush, doesn't make Bush a Nazi supporter, no more than any other bank employee who worked there.
@THUD086 Onaryc59, prior to WW2, the U.S. did not go around looking for wars to get involved in. We were trying to avoid it, just like we wanted no part of the great fucking European disaster, WW1, which gave us WW2 as a sequel.
The problem is, Europe failed in keeping the world peacefull, so the U.S. became a superpower and prevented any more world wars. Hasn't been one since, right? Right.
All the wars combined since then don't even come close to the death and carnage the Euros gave us.
@THUD086 Oh, one more thing Onaryc59. I see in another comment that one : we got kicked out of Vietnam. WRONG dude, we never got kicked out. American public grew tired of the war, so we simply left on our own.
The U.S. military was not defeated by the enemy, unlike the French, who, in 1954 were kicked out at Dien Ben Phu.
And Onaryc59, how can we declare war on Vietnam again, when we never declared war on them in the first place?
Don't believe me, look it up and prove me wrong, but you can't.
@THUD086 "we never got kicked out. American public grew tired of the war, so we simply left on our own." Yeah right. That is the official reason, I suppose. You learnt your lesson well. Truth is you couldn't have lasted much longer there, better "leave on our own". And as I said before, Dien Ben Phu was a really heroic battle, with inferior numbers among the French who fought to the last, no napalm then, no B52s, just guns and even hand to hand in the end! (...)
@THUD086 (...) the US came with TEN TIMES AS MANY troops as the French, and B52s, copters and napalm and STILL could not defeat the VCs. So pleeeeeaaaase don't even start on Dien Ben Phu.
@Onaryc59 I see you still can't point out any victories, at least a decisive one in WW2 before we came in. There were none Onaryc, which again proves that we did not enter your war when victory was assured, as you stated.
Onaryc, Churchill couldn't get on his knees fast enough to get the U.S. into the war. Without the U.S. in the war in Europe, forget about D-Day, it never would'ce came. Except for the U.K.,Europe would've been either Nazified or communist, my guess communist.
@THUD086 Don't even go with our population Onaryc, the population of the entire British Empire at the onset of the war was around 500,000,000 people, compared to our population in 1940 around 140,000,000 people.
Onaryc, when Europeans start wars i their own continent, of course you're going to suffer all those civilian deaths. Don't go with this crap, "but,,,but,,,the U.S. suffered no civilian losses". Hey, I repeat, IT WAS EUROPE'S WAR, NOT OURS !
@THUD086 I realize it's just your wishfull thinking that we got "kicked" out of Vietnam (your term, not mine), but get this in your cranium too, we left on our own, and not by the VC, as you claim The VC were defeated in the Tet Offensive of 1968 anyway, and were no longer a viable fighting force. The war was left up to the NVA, which went on the offensive again in 1972 and still lost.
Again, we chose to leave, we were not forced out, unlike the French in 1954 that left at the tip of a bayonet.
@THUD086 And, unlike the French, we didn't go to Vietnam to colonize the place, like you guys were doing since the 1860's, enslaving people.
Oh, and what did the French (although Vichy in WW2) do for us in Vietnam? Nothing, they even sided with the Japanese allowing them the port city of Haiphong to enter southern China.
And speaking of the Japanese onaryc, let me make you aware that Japan was our real enemy, not Germany. You folks declared, then went to war against Germany, not theU.S.
@THUD086 Oh, and just one more thing Onaryc. You mentioned that the U.S. would automatically be at war with Germany since we along with France and the U.K. were at war with Germany.
I'd like to prove you wrong on that. The USSR was our "ally", right Onaryc? but yet they were not at war with Japan, an enemy of the U.S. & the U.K.
Of course you do know why, don't you? Don't you?
Do your homework and research it and learn something. If not I'll be more than happy to explain it to you as usual.
@THUD086 Don't talk to me about slavery, please. You had segregation in the US until the 60s... Lynchings until the late 30s,at least. Whereas black American musicians came to Paris after WW2 to enjoy some real tolerance. And yes, France stayed 100 years in VN, the US, what, 15 years?
@Onaryc59 You seem to be missing the entire point about the U.S. involvement in Europe in WW2. is your skull really that thick, or are you dumber than I think?
The U.S. was under no obligation to join the European war in 1939. And last time I checked, Germany, where the Nazi's started the war from, was part of Europe. Have they moved and not tell me about it?
What, I have to repeat myself on Vietnam again? We were not in Vietnam to colonize the place (slavery, no difference) like the French.
@THUD086 And Onaryc59, I'm not acting proud over the fact that you guys and the U.K. couldn't handle Germany back in 39-40. I'm only trying to point out to you how totally wrong you are when you say that we entered the war when victory was assured. I'll spell it out a million times if I have to, so other commenters don't get bullshitted by you. You needed us more than we needed you. We were not at war with Germany, you were.
FDR wanted us in earlier, but the American people said no.
@THUD086 I believe I asked you why the Soviet Union would not wage war with Japan (until after the informal surrender, anyway), have you ever figured out why, or will you just continue to be a self-proclaimed "know-it'all" here on the Tube?
You really stepped in the dogshit pile when you tried to go into WW2 histrionics Onaryc59.
@THUD086 No one was in any obligation of anything. France was in no obligation to sign an agreement with Poland that if invaded by any country France would declare war on that country. But it did. And I insist that anything the US gvt did in WW2 was for its own interest and with the smallest sacrifice possible (in the end it was much smaller than that of the European countries involved, let's not forget that).
@THUD086 That said, it's the same with any other country involved, even though some (lots of) individual soldiers or civilians may have believed the propaganda BS thrown to them, and still do to this day apparently! So what if it was all BS after all? Deal with it, instead of trying to imply that US actions were all about heroism and saving the world and doing all the work, which IT IS NOT. Hey, Yanks: there are Hollywood movies, and then there's REALITY. Get that?
@Onaryc59 Hey Frog, first of all we didn't enter WW1 in 1918, try early 1917. You just keep stepping in dogshit piles, don't you. Did you ever get an education in both WW1 & WW2?
And Hitler never came close to getting an atomic weapon. What toilet bowl do you scrape your history lessons from.
If you knew anything about the subject, you would know that in 1942, Werner Heisenberg, who was assigned to develop the project for the Heereswaffenamt, deliberately retarded the project,
Throw in the fact that German industry was not capable to complete such a project due to the bombing and sabotage, and that the project was underfunded and scorned on by the German high command, doomed it.
Even worse was Hitlers own insane racial policies, which drove the great minds of Albert Einstein, Hamp Bethe, Edward Teller, Leo Szillard, and Enrico Fermi right over to the Manhattan Project.
@THUD086 If you don't start researching these things before you hit the "POST" button, you're only going to show the viewers here what an intellectually bankrupted fool you are Onaryc59.
Hey Frog, maybe you should be watching the Hollywood movies. You can't do any worse than you're doing now.
@THUD086 You're replying to yourself again. Who's intellectually bankrupt again? Lol. Everything that I have said is true. And double checked. I am not going to do the research that you need to do.
@THUD086 Btw, you should know that french people don't eat frogs legs. That is actually a cliché. I did eat some once out of curiosity. tastes like chicken. Hey, learn something new everyday. Burger eater. How fat are you?
@Onaryc59 Before you get too full of yourself, some facts you need to know. The american economy was 2.5 times larger than Germany's and 5.5 times larger than Japan's in 1941. You could add the economies of Germany and Japan and we were almost twice the size of both countries and you think we could not have whacked Germany alone? Another fact, America alone supplies over 1/2 of ALL ALLIED WARTIME MATERIALS.....
Btw, you couldn't even whip the VC. You did whip Japan. It took the only two A-bombs ever used in a war (I hope you're proud) and you didn't have the bomb in 39 or 40.
@Onaryc59 THUD is 100% correct that you need to realize America wasn't into fighting your European wars. We did it in WWI and look where it got us.....
@hopeurforfreedom Who's "we"? Did you fight in WW1? Damn, you're old... And the US came in in 1918, when the end of the war was near, as usal. Which further proves my point. Btw, I never said the US had to fight a european war, but I did say it wasn't about "Europe & the US", but the nazis & and the non nazis. And I also said that US help wasn't what made the nazis lose in the end, even though Americans like to believe it (understandly, but wrongly).
@THUD086 Europe didn't start the war. The Nazis did. No Hitler, no war. Get THAT in your thick American skull. To you Europe is so far you think it's one big nation. I suppose you also think Chinese and Japanese are the same. Moron.
@Onaryc59 Listen moron, the European War was for Europeans. American had no intention of wasting it's youth on another world war that was a European War. We kept free Europe supplied with food, guns, ammo and other equipment prior to forced entry into WWII. To say we could not have whipped Germany alone is laughable. You might want to check out the size of our economy vs. Germany's. You forget, we were pretty much the only country who fought a truly global war....
@hopeurforfreedom The US a global war starting from 1942 or 43 in reality. In 39, the US didn't have the armed forces for it, and if you don't know that, there's nothing else I can say to you. Do your own homework. As to that "European war for Europeans" BS, when Hitler started to show signs that he might get an A-bomb, and Stalin that he might invade all Europe, the US didn't care about Europe war for Europe anymore. It had to come in!
@hopeurforfreedom Maybe the country that invented comic-books superheroes like to see themselves like the saviors of the universe, but the ignorant population don't know shit about politics and History, like any international school test in those subjects shows. And again, I never said the US did nothing, which would be stupid and ignorant to say, I said they didn't do everything, like some ppl here sometimes say or imply ("if it weren't for the US, you blah blah blah").
@hopeurforfreedom And if you think "you" (did you fight in WW2 too? Wow) could have whipped Germany alone, you are making a fool of yourself. "You" couldn't have, not in 39, nor in 70, nor in 44. The Soviet soldiers killed 80% of the German army in WW2, that's a figure that even US historians know. Talk about "moron".
@THUD086 YT killed my posts apparently. I'll repeat this one in short. In 39-40, no one could have defeated the German army, certainly not the US, who didn't have the equipment until three years later. No need to mock the FR or UK for 39-40, and act all proud. When the US came in, it knew most Germans were kept busy on the eastern front, when in 39 most of German army was on the western front. Simple as that.
@THUD086 Without the Russians, forget about D-Day too. Most German troops would have been there to make the invasion a disaster, not just a 5th of it. The US chose the right fighting conditions to make them look good, as usual. They're very good at that, looking good.
@Onaryc59 Woulda' coulda' shoulda' doesn't matter. You say we chose conditions to "look good"? Tell that to the men who landed at Omaha Beach. It wasn't called bloody Omaha caused it "looked good". As for climbing the cliff's a Point du Hoc, go look at em' yourself and tell me we chose them to "look good". We were also fighting the Japanese Empire, perhaps the finest navy on the face of the earth at that time, so don't give me that German crap about the Russians.
@hopeurforfreedom "coulda shoulda" matters when ppl like you think & say the US did all the main work. It just "couldn't have". And who said anything about the US soldiers in WW2? I didn't. They were pawns in US politics, unaware of what they were really doing and why (laying the land for the cold war, preventing communism to be all over Europe) but I never said anything about the effort and sacrifices of individual soldiers and civilians from ANY nation who helped.
@THUD086 Do you think we were not trying to avoid war too? We had lost millions of ppl in a war just 20 years before. Right into the 70s I remember buses and subway cars with signs on certains seats that said "reserved for pregnant women and war invalids". NO ONE wanted war. Do you think your american gvt and nation would have done better with Hitler as a neighbor in 39? I don't think so. "We" tried everything we could, but turns out Hitler wanted war. It's not about "Europe". It's madness.
@THUD086 "hasn't been a war since"? You must be blind. There has ALWAYS been a war somewhere in the world since the end of WW2. Not counting, thr cold war, terrorism, and so on. Somuch for the great US peacekeeper. And if you look up the death toll for WW2, you'll find the US were far from the ones who suffered the most. It can be found easily on the web. Enough with the "Euto"talk please. You're making a fool of yourself.
@THUD086 Well, US population is much bigger. Proportionally though, France and Britain suffered more, and I'm not even counting civilians, when US civilians didn't suffer at all of course. And I am talking about Europe, not the Pacific. About Italy and Africa, OK, but a lot of remaining French troops were in Africa and also invaded the south of France, another forgotten battle, and were in Italy (one of the decisive battles there was won by the French).
@THUD086 No need to declare war on the USSR, since when when you were at war with Germany you were automatically at war with their allies of the time. And yes, precisely, the US intervened only when they knew victory was almost inevitable, which it wasn't before they came in, which is why there was no one else attained victory before that. Makes perfect sense. US intervention is not the cause of victory, just a sign that it now can be attained. Don't confuse the cause and the consequence.
@THUD086 Oh come ON. Don't tell me that that has ever stopped the US interfering in any country. If the US has any interest in doing something, it will do it, no matter what other nations think. The US don't give a f*ck about the rest of the world. Of course it does use propaganda along the lines of "we're doing this for your own good". Sometimes. When they think they'll get away with it. yes, France declared, after the Poland invasion, because of the agreement between Poland and France.
@Onaryc59 You and your fellow peacenik liberals pray for your enemies. I'll be killing them so they don't kill you and me. Life is what it is, not what you "intellectuals think it is." Please try to reason with a suicide bomber, dumbshit. You are alive and free to spew your liberal trash because brave men fought and died for your country. And, your Lancaster bomber killed thousands of civilians. Would you rather be sprechiende deutsche?
@45trsrf101 I don't need a warnut to tell me what life is. I have had ppl in my family who were civilians and/or military in wars, which is more than you can say, being american. Btw, again, I am not British. I am your worst nightmare. I am a cheese eating surrender monkey eh eh eh! Now come on with all your clichés and falsehoods about the French, I already have an answer for each one of them! I know them all! and I know how to shup up trolls like you.
@Onaryc59 If your relatives were in war it was only for 1 or 2 days which is how long it took the French to surrender in WWII and get their asses handed to them at Dien Ben Phu. Turning the other cheek has served your country well. I suppose you think the Russians liberated your country you elitist ungrateful (see, I took french in college) Enjoy your heritage while you can, France is almost a muslim state due to your lenient immigration policy! Another surrender is imminent!
@45trsrf101 I'm a bit disappointed. I expected something a bit more aggressive, angrier. No, not "1 or 2" days. Months. 100,000 dead on both sides (german and french). If those 100,000 germans had been there in 1944, the normandy invasion would have failed. As to Vietnam, the french had 50,000 troops there, the US later had 500,000 and B-52s and still got kicked out. And France is much less a muslim country than the US is spanish....
@Onaryc59 You have me there monsiuer. USA will soon lose California, Arizona, and Texas if they don't solve illegal immigration problem! Didn't know german causalties were so high - thank you France for eliminating so many.
@45trsrf101 And I thank the US, not for finally fighting the Germans - they would have been defeated without them, byt the Russians - but because it's the Russians who would have liberated France and all of Europe, and what with the French partisans who were communists for the most part, France would have become a communist country. After WW2 that would have been more than horrible, like it was in Poland and such. That is also why the US really went to war in Europe: it didn't need a red Europe!
@45trsrf101 Also as a US general said in 45, French Resistance (partisans) had the effect of a whole company fighting behind the lines. And taking to the hills isn't that easy when they can take your family as hostages. Think about it. Sending troops to the other side of the world is one thing, but fighting on your own turf is something different entirely. Seems to me the US forget that when they joke about the "surrendering, cowardly" French. I'd love to see them in the same situation.
@Onaryc59 Agree, French Resistance was awesome and they, their families and towns, faced horrific Gestapo consequences if captured. Neither surrendering nor cowardly. Please quit before I am forced to conceded more points and become more educated - Ha Ha! Au Revoir mon ami.
@45trsrf101 Also there was WW1 in which MILLIONS of French ppl died, military or civilian, and made the French hate war for decades afterwards. My grandfather fought in it, told me about it, and believe me, it was no movie or video game. So 20 years later they're told, "there's another war on", and you know what? France is the only country sharing a border with Germany that DECLARES war on Germany. Imagine the US declaring war on Vietnam again in 1995 and see what the reaction would have been.
@Onaryc59 Agree France's hatred of War justified. U.S. having, never been invaded, hasn't experienced the horror of war within it's borders. I always felt Cold War was justified by USSR based on their understandable cultural fear of invasion - Millions killed. Likewise with China due to horrors of Japanese invasion. U.S. ignorantly mistook defense buildup as offensive. Also, U.S. was hypocrite re: Cuban missile crisis - US can have have missiles near USSR but USSR can't have missiles near U.S.
@CompactJam There is nothing wrong with disliking and ridiculing queers anymore than you liberals dislike and ridicule Republicans and Christians. I'll proudly go to the front of the class and explain why I think homos are immoral and deviant. Telling kids being gay is okay is no more correct than telling them it is wrong. They are both opinions right only to the people who assert them. Tolerance isn't inherently intellectual, do you tolerate rape? You're an intolerant and ignorant elitistl
@Onaryc59 I was referring to heterosexual rapes dumbass. Some human conduct is indisputably wrong. (ex. Murder&Rape) Homosexuality is not one of the indisputably wrong acts. Gays justify homosexuality as freedom. Anyone opposing freedom of choice is ignorant. But, gays oppose freedom of choice too, lest they condone murder and rape. So, their argument is flawed. Acceptance of their conduct is debateable and person who oppose it are not ignorant. They are excercising their freedom.
@45trsrf101 How do gays oppose freedom of choice? And also, what is it to you that some guy fucks another guy? None or your goddam business. It's not as if they were doing it on your kitchen table while you're having breakfast.
@45trsrf101 Er no I'm not a liberal and I don't give a fuck about Republicans or Christians or Democrats for that matter as I'm not even American. In fact I regard all American politics with contempt and I don't care who your chief is. I just find it fascinating that it bothers you so much that Graham loves Brian. I fully expect sexual and racial biggotry from the vast majority of Americans I have met here and in the U.S. Rememeber you guys are famous for being stupid in the rest of the world
@CompactJam Corporal LaBeau, stupid is building a defense with guns that only point in 1 direction (Maginot Line) Ah the genuis of French engineers and Military Generals! We Americans could learn so much! Arc de Triomphe, are you kidding? The best picture of it is with the Nazi's marching through it on their way to consensual sex with all the french women so loyal to their country! But, I will give you credit for Madame Curie and Louis Pasteur.
@45trsrf101 "There is nothing wrong with disliking and ridiculing queers anymore than you liberals dislike and ridicule Republicans and Christians". If you're a good Christian, you should turn the other cheek, because the Bible tells you so. Not go to war, not fight people, not kill people, and certainly not rejoice in their death or suffering of people some of which are probably innocent people. You forgive. That what a real Christian does.
@101327 Dropping napalm on civilians - Combat? Ultimate test of his training and skill... Again, dropping bombs on civilians? I think those "Civvies" sure as hell got it, bro. Scumbag...
it was a fair fight they are shooting machine guns at a prop plane they had the advantage. So why is he alive? he is alive this time. somthing to grin about i guess.
He seems a very nice one and he puts 100% effort into his job. Everyman should be this enthusiastic about their job. If we all put this much effort in the world would be an incredible amazing place for every one to enjoy.
the pilot's job is to hit targets. when he does so, he feels good about it. it is pretty amazing that the thought of mowing people down gives him a huge grin. but that's war ain't it?
@Onaryc59 Actually it does it excuse it. War is the act of killing, of one side dominating another. A warriors job is to destroy the enemy or displace him. To have visual confirmation of either and to have an emotional response of excitement is a natural response. Evil, disgusting, abhorrent? Welp, that is war, and that is how it is done. They shoot at me, I shoot at them... whoever walks away is the winner.
@spins321 Which... explains it. But doesn't excuse it. You might want to look up those two words. He's happy because he's alive. OK. He's happy because survivors of the napalm attack (which he mentions here) are running away from his guns (of which he seems to be very proud) and he's killing people (probably innocent families), sorry, not excusable. Nothing to be so unashamedly excited about.
I guess it's dependent on perspective. I'm not a boxer, and I don't really understand the joy a boxer feels after pummeling someone nor why terrorists are elated after killing civilians... actions are justifiable by the individual or group dependent on the situation or their particular goals. In this case, it's unfair to dismiss him by saying he's probably killing civilians. He's in a platform which is typically tasked for close air support. What if he was supporting friendly troops in contact?
@spins321 Oh, it is dependent on perspective alright, but some perspectives are just wrong, even tho you can explain easily why they exist. I am not dismissing him because he's killing civilians, but because the joy and excitement he's showing in doing so is over the top. Of course I know a guy who enjoys doing this would probably be better at the job than a guy who doesn't. But in fact, that is the whole point. In short : looks like you have to be(come) a psycho to survive in a war.
You are assuming, without any proof, that he's killing civilians. He may be supporting his own troops in contact on the ground. I would feel elated if I were able to scatter enemy troops attempting to destroy my guys. I would feel a rush if I took out an enemy soldier in the heat of combat. What we don't see is the story that comes after. We don't see what soldiers, on either side, go through years after the events. The full scope of the man is measured over years, not just a snippet of seconds.
@spins321 Nor do we see the full scope of the civilians he has killed. Btw, he himself says "the people running", then he says "VC". He wouldn't have said "ppl" talking about enemy soldiers, but then for him all VC are enemies. He couldn't care less about them being civilians or not. At the end of video, you see the amputated legs on that girl. There's plenty more of footage & photos on the VN war showing the same sort of stuff. It's what war is about.
@Onaryc59 Bonjour, mon ami. Onaryc59, this documentary by Chris Marker is just another persons view of class warfare, and I doubt if Marker is really concerned about warfare or not.
And that photo of the young amputated girl at the end can be deceptive. The vid you posted is aimed at a pilot conducting aerial warfare, yet the amputated girl highly suggests she's the victim of a land mine. This is consistent with that type of injury. Ah, and yet how do we know it wasn't from a Viet-Cong mine?
@dorkf1sh Lol some ppl can never spell "amateur"... But kapos loved their work, beating the shit out of their fellowmen, just like he's doing in the vid. But I can use another comparison: how about a torturer in any military prison in history. I'm sure they took pride in their work too. That is just to point out the obvious flaw in your comment. Oorah!
Great video! The Skyraider pilots in Vietnam were true warriors. Nothing beats gunning down godless communists with four 20 mm cannons. Thanks for posting.
@AIRBORNECOMBATDIVER Yeah, true warriors, and godless communists. Give a dog a bad name, and hang him. The good thing about the military is, they don't have to think. They obey orders. All they need to know is they're the good guys, and the ppl they're killing are the bad guys, including civilians, women, children. The politicians make sure to make it very simple for them to understand, because the military don't like situations that are too complicated for their small brains.
@Onaryc59 That man sitting in the cockpit was university educated. He could of chose to be anywhere other than Vietnam. He was not a simpleton who was blindly following orders he knew what he was doing and in his heart he knew it was right and it took a hell of a lot more guts and courage then staying home and protesting the war.
@AIRBORNECOMBATDIVER Not necessarily. You can be highly educated in one field (technology, science) and poorly in another (politics, philosophy, history). As to courage, well, nobody thinks they're going to die. If he knew he was going to, maybe he wouldn't have gone. That's why so many people accept to go. But at least he chose to. The civilians didn't.
Speechless of his man who was enjoying dropping bombs on my people. What is this? This is men playing evil war games and killing innocence people. People who wish they were him or enjoy watching this you are already dead. You are a slave to this government and You are an idiot in my book. No heart, No Brain, No True Valuable Moral or digity for an living beings. You probably eat alot of meat and would kill a cow and eat all it's flesh and organs. You probably cry to sleep for mommy & daddy.

US of A rapacious military empire garrisoning, invading, occupying and plundering the globe, ‘exporting democracy’ (installing dictators and propping-up client/police states), 'nation building' (expanding the empire), ‘liberating the people’ (of their oil/resource wealth), et al... ad nauseam.

Most of the Foreign Legion back then were made up of Former Nazis too

@H20654 Whatever. It's not "the French" or "the US", it's war. VN prisoners have been tortured, killed, thrown off helicopters and planes by both French and American military in those wars.

@Onaryc59 No offense mate but your known for that in Europe as well
H20654 8 months ago
@H20654 "Known for that" doesn't mean it's true. Many things are said about the French (and other nations) that turn out to be untrue when you look at the figures. Word "stereotype" mean anything to you?
Onaryc59 8 months ago 2

Onaryc59 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom You surrender jokes have never been funny (except to the ignorant yankees of course). Like jokes? This (French) guy is caught fucking a dead woman on the beach on the French riviera. He's taken to court, and the judge says to him, "how could you do such a disgusting thing?", and the guy says "but your Honor, I thought she was American!" Ha ha ha.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom The economy doesn't fight wars. People and equipment do. And the US military couldn't and didn't fight in 39-40. Cant you just DEAL with it? Best armed forces in 39: Germany. And that's final. It took several countries to beat them, on several fronts, including the US, even after it was battered by years of fighting and had a low morale. And you still think the US could have beaten it single-handed in 39. Please, don't make me laugh.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@THUD086 You bore me now ppl. I'm tired of replying to the same stuff year after year. You extreme right-wing yankee assholes have been kicked on various forums & newsgroups for years now. You were wrong about everything, & the French were right. WMDs in Iraq, connection between Iraq and 911, and so many other things in economy, environment, and so on. It makes me yawn. And if you knew what my diplomas are, you wouldn't act so proud when you talk to me. And I speak a foreign language. Do you?

I wish someone would bomb his family and see how clever he thinks it is
CompactJam 1 year ago
@CompactJam Yep. Try to explain that to the war buffs who leave comments here. Let's see how much they will love war when the bombs fall on their houses and loved ones. They probably cannot even grasp what it would be like for them, but I have people in my family who can. When you have that, you get an entirely point of view on war. Not some kind of heroic video game, but what is actually is. Those who talk about war the most are usually the people who know the least about it.
Onaryc59 1 year ago

45trsrf101 1 year ago
@45trsrf101 Hey I'm a peacenik too if that means peace loving. I was a paratrooper once if you think that makes me a hippy or soft and weak like you. What this man is doing by taking pleasure in the suffering of others is not operational or good warcraft. He's just a psychopath shielded by a force that wants him on board to fulfill their killing tasks. Sadly every war throws up scum like this. Now perhaps you'd like to explain to the rest of the class why you hate gay people.
CompactJam 1 year ago
@CompactJam I'm for peace too, except when I'm in a war against savages that have no respect for human life or suffering. In that event, those people deserve the same. Just like the Al Qeida that killed innocent children and civilians on 9/11, the VC committed enumerable atrocities, and you can bet your pussy ass their followers loved it. You were never a paratrooper or you would have mentioned your unit, and you certainly have ever served in a war zone. You're the pussy, democrat.
45trsrf101 1 year ago
@45trsrf101 As Jack Nicholson accurately stated in the movie "A Few Good Men," "You need me on that wall, you want me on that wall." War is evil and immoral and it is ignorant to expect moral rules for war to be heeded. We won WWII in Europe and Japan by bombing millions of civilians. The NV didn't honor the Geneva Convention, terrorists won't either. The soldier willing to do anything to win, wins. With soldiers like u we lose. Hesitate in your moral quandry and you get a bullet in the brain.
45trsrf101 1 year ago

45trsrf101 1 year ago
@45trsrf101 Ha ha, I'm not a Brit. Once again a yank is completely wrong about something not american. I'm worse than a Brit (in your eyes only). And your denial about History is pathetic, but that was expected.

Onaryc59 1 year ago
@Onaryc59 Don't claim experience just because even France has successfully invaded Britain before. I don't love war, but when I'm in one, I'm going to love winning, dumbass. It's kill or be killed and you can bet your limey ass, I'll be happy killing rather than letting my comrades get killed. Did you pussies hold prayer vigils for the Nazis when you were hiding in the subways. Obviously, you were not there, twirp. Go worship Elvis Costello.
45trsrf101 1 year ago
@45trsrf101 There's a fine line (actually, a thick line) between winning a war and getting high on killing people, which is what the point of this vid. Which you missed completely, of course. And btw, where was the US in 39? Doing business with Nazi Germany (like GW Bush's granddad!) and keeping Jewish refugees from Germany out of the USA. Only when victory was certain did the US go to war, as usual. In 39, no eastern front (soviet-german pact), in 42, most of the war was on the eastern front.
Onaryc59 1 year ago
@Onaryc59 Where was the U.S. in 1939? Same place it's always been.
Oh, you mean the war that you Europeans got yourselves into.
Let me clue you in on something. The war that started in Europe in 1939, was just that : Europes war, not the U.S.'s. It was just another war in the long line of wars Europe has engaged in long before the U..S. ever became a country.
Are you forgetting, that it was the U.K. & France that declared war, then attempted to wage war on Germany in 1939, not vice versa.
THUD086 11 months ago
@THUD086 And Onaryc59, would you please, oh please, clue me in on how Prescott Bush was "doing business" with Nazi Germany?
Better do your research good, I'm in an ass kicking mood right now, and you're the target.
And in your opinion, when was "victory certain"? I'm interested in your bullshit timeline. This should be quite amusing.
THUD086 11 months ago
@THUD086 Stalin-Hitler pact : most German troops in the west. Fresh troops, high morale. The US stay put. No intervention. Later, no more Stalin-Hitler pact. Most german troops sent to eastern front to fight, more and more tired, low morale, war of attrition. Few troops in the west, unexperienced. The US join the Brits (less than 50% of the Normandy troops were US). Of course, the same US who would have never defeated the german army of 39 still claim victory years later. Give me a break.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@THUD086 He certainly was doing business with people in that country. But hey, that's business. And the US also hired Von Braun, Hitler's rocket designer, for their space program. Money, as we say in French, has no odor.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@Onaryc59 First of all, yes, France & the U.K. had a mutual defense pact with Poland, not the U.S. Which also begs the question, when the Soviets invaded Poland two weeks later, why wasn't war declared on the Soviet Union as well?
Second, you claimed that when the U.S. entered the war, it was already won without us. So tell me, just what victories did the allies attain prior to December 11, 1941?
That's the timeline I want you to show me. What victories were achieved prior to our entry?
THUD086 11 months ago
@THUD086 Third, D-Day, had more Americans than any individual country. When you account for the British, you're probably counting their empire troops as well, mostly Canadian. Have you also forgotten that the U.S. was doing ALL the heavy lifting in the Pacific theatre then? And prior to D-Day, we were in Africa and Italy also. Doesn't count for anything?
And Onaryc, when the war ended in Europe, the U.S. had over 60 divisions on the ground in Europe. The U.K. and its empire combined, had 29.
THUD086 11 months ago
@THUD086 Oh, nothing on P.Bush, eh?
Here, I'll clue you in. P.Bush was a bank employee with a bank in NYC that just happened to have an account for German steel magnate Fritz Thyssen. He had accounts in both the U.S. & Holland. Several wealthy Germans did, they wanted to keep their wealth away from Hitler. Sounds right.
Just because he had the account in the same bank as P. Bush, doesn't make Bush a Nazi supporter, no more than any other bank employee who worked there.
THUD086 11 months ago
@THUD086 Onaryc59, prior to WW2, the U.S. did not go around looking for wars to get involved in. We were trying to avoid it, just like we wanted no part of the great fucking European disaster, WW1, which gave us WW2 as a sequel.
The problem is, Europe failed in keeping the world peacefull, so the U.S. became a superpower and prevented any more world wars. Hasn't been one since, right? Right.
All the wars combined since then don't even come close to the death and carnage the Euros gave us.
THUD086 11 months ago

Onaryc59 11 months ago
@THUD086 (...) the US came with TEN TIMES AS MANY troops as the French, and B52s, copters and napalm and STILL could not defeat the VCs. So pleeeeeaaaase don't even start on Dien Ben Phu.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@Onaryc59 I see you still can't point out any victories, at least a decisive one in WW2 before we came in. There were none Onaryc, which again proves that we did not enter your war when victory was assured, as you stated.
Onaryc, Churchill couldn't get on his knees fast enough to get the U.S. into the war. Without the U.S. in the war in Europe, forget about D-Day, it never would'ce came. Except for the U.K.,Europe would've been either Nazified or communist, my guess communist.
THUD086 11 months ago
@THUD086 Don't even go with our population Onaryc, the population of the entire British Empire at the onset of the war was around 500,000,000 people, compared to our population in 1940 around 140,000,000 people.
Onaryc, when Europeans start wars i their own continent, of course you're going to suffer all those civilian deaths. Don't go with this crap, "but,,,but,,,the U.S. suffered no civilian losses". Hey, I repeat, IT WAS EUROPE'S WAR, NOT OURS !
Get that in your thick skull, will you please
THUD086 11 months ago
@THUD086 I realize it's just your wishfull thinking that we got "kicked" out of Vietnam (your term, not mine), but get this in your cranium too, we left on our own, and not by the VC, as you claim The VC were defeated in the Tet Offensive of 1968 anyway, and were no longer a viable fighting force. The war was left up to the NVA, which went on the offensive again in 1972 and still lost.
Again, we chose to leave, we were not forced out, unlike the French in 1954 that left at the tip of a bayonet.
THUD086 11 months ago
@THUD086 And, unlike the French, we didn't go to Vietnam to colonize the place, like you guys were doing since the 1860's, enslaving people.
Oh, and what did the French (although Vichy in WW2) do for us in Vietnam? Nothing, they even sided with the Japanese allowing them the port city of Haiphong to enter southern China.
And speaking of the Japanese onaryc, let me make you aware that Japan was our real enemy, not Germany. You folks declared, then went to war against Germany, not theU.S.

@THUD086 Prior to our entry, the French & the British were doing nothing in attaining a victory over Germany.
Kicked out of Norway, and then France (Dunkirk, anyone?), the western allies went NOWHERE without the U.S., both in personnel and armaments.
Good thing I'm not charging you for these history lessons, Onaryc, I'd make a fortune off of you.
And on the wars, as I have stated, there hasn't been a world war since 1945. Can you prove me wrong on that, ha ha ha?

THUD086 11 months ago
@THUD086 Oh, and just one more thing Onaryc. You mentioned that the U.S. would automatically be at war with Germany since we along with France and the U.K. were at war with Germany.
I'd like to prove you wrong on that. The USSR was our "ally", right Onaryc? but yet they were not at war with Japan, an enemy of the U.S. & the U.K.
Of course you do know why, don't you? Don't you?
Do your homework and research it and learn something. If not I'll be more than happy to explain it to you as usual.
THUD086 11 months ago
@THUD086 Don't talk to me about slavery, please. You had segregation in the US until the 60s... Lynchings until the late 30s,at least. Whereas black American musicians came to Paris after WW2 to enjoy some real tolerance. And yes, France stayed 100 years in VN, the US, what, 15 years?
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@Onaryc59 You seem to be missing the entire point about the U.S. involvement in Europe in WW2. is your skull really that thick, or are you dumber than I think?
The U.S. was under no obligation to join the European war in 1939. And last time I checked, Germany, where the Nazi's started the war from, was part of Europe. Have they moved and not tell me about it?
What, I have to repeat myself on Vietnam again? We were not in Vietnam to colonize the place (slavery, no difference) like the French.
THUD086 11 months ago
@THUD086 And Onaryc59, I'm not acting proud over the fact that you guys and the U.K. couldn't handle Germany back in 39-40. I'm only trying to point out to you how totally wrong you are when you say that we entered the war when victory was assured. I'll spell it out a million times if I have to, so other commenters don't get bullshitted by you. You needed us more than we needed you. We were not at war with Germany, you were.
FDR wanted us in earlier, but the American people said no.
THUD086 11 months ago
@THUD086 I believe I asked you why the Soviet Union would not wage war with Japan (until after the informal surrender, anyway), have you ever figured out why, or will you just continue to be a self-proclaimed "know-it'all" here on the Tube?
You really stepped in the dogshit pile when you tried to go into WW2 histrionics Onaryc59.
THUD086 11 months ago
@THUD086 No one was in any obligation of anything. France was in no obligation to sign an agreement with Poland that if invaded by any country France would declare war on that country. But it did. And I insist that anything the US gvt did in WW2 was for its own interest and with the smallest sacrifice possible (in the end it was much smaller than that of the European countries involved, let's not forget that).
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@THUD086 That said, it's the same with any other country involved, even though some (lots of) individual soldiers or civilians may have believed the propaganda BS thrown to them, and still do to this day apparently! So what if it was all BS after all? Deal with it, instead of trying to imply that US actions were all about heroism and saving the world and doing all the work, which IT IS NOT. Hey, Yanks: there are Hollywood movies, and then there's REALITY. Get that?
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@Onaryc59 Hey Frog, first of all we didn't enter WW1 in 1918, try early 1917. You just keep stepping in dogshit piles, don't you. Did you ever get an education in both WW1 & WW2?
And Hitler never came close to getting an atomic weapon. What toilet bowl do you scrape your history lessons from.
If you knew anything about the subject, you would know that in 1942, Werner Heisenberg, who was assigned to develop the project for the Heereswaffenamt, deliberately retarded the project,

@THUD086 for that Hitler would actually use it.

@THUD086 1918. Yes. And Hitler never came close to etc, yes, but the US didn't know that at the time.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@THUD086 You talk about "education" and "history lessons", for an American. I guess one talks of the things they need.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@Onaryc59 Before you get too full of yourself, some facts you need to know. The american economy was 2.5 times larger than Germany's and 5.5 times larger than Japan's in 1941. You could add the economies of Germany and Japan and we were almost twice the size of both countries and you think we could not have whacked Germany alone? Another fact, America alone supplies over 1/2 of ALL ALLIED WARTIME MATERIALS.....
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom Could. Not. Have. Whipped. Germany.
Btw, you couldn't even whip the VC. You did whip Japan. It took the only two A-bombs ever used in a war (I hope you're proud) and you didn't have the bomb in 39 or 40.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@Onaryc59 I shoulda' realized you were from France, you're a smart ass. The French fight with their feet and fuck with their mouth's.

@hopeurforfreedom Who told you that? Great historians like Jay Leno or Bill O'Reilly, I suppose, lol.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@Onaryc59 THUD is 100% correct that you need to realize America wasn't into fighting your European wars. We did it in WWI and look where it got us.....
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom Who's "we"? Did you fight in WW1? Damn, you're old... And the US came in in 1918, when the end of the war was near, as usal. Which further proves my point. Btw, I never said the US had to fight a european war, but I did say it wasn't about "Europe & the US", but the nazis & and the non nazis. And I also said that US help wasn't what made the nazis lose in the end, even though Americans like to believe it (understandly, but wrongly).
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@THUD086 Europe didn't start the war. The Nazis did. No Hitler, no war. Get THAT in your thick American skull. To you Europe is so far you think it's one big nation. I suppose you also think Chinese and Japanese are the same. Moron.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@Onaryc59 Listen moron, the European War was for Europeans. American had no intention of wasting it's youth on another world war that was a European War. We kept free Europe supplied with food, guns, ammo and other equipment prior to forced entry into WWII. To say we could not have whipped Germany alone is laughable. You might want to check out the size of our economy vs. Germany's. You forget, we were pretty much the only country who fought a truly global war....
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom The US a global war starting from 1942 or 43 in reality. In 39, the US didn't have the armed forces for it, and if you don't know that, there's nothing else I can say to you. Do your own homework. As to that "European war for Europeans" BS, when Hitler started to show signs that he might get an A-bomb, and Stalin that he might invade all Europe, the US didn't care about Europe war for Europe anymore. It had to come in!
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom Maybe the country that invented comic-books superheroes like to see themselves like the saviors of the universe, but the ignorant population don't know shit about politics and History, like any international school test in those subjects shows. And again, I never said the US did nothing, which would be stupid and ignorant to say, I said they didn't do everything, like some ppl here sometimes say or imply ("if it weren't for the US, you blah blah blah").
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom And if you think "you" (did you fight in WW2 too? Wow) could have whipped Germany alone, you are making a fool of yourself. "You" couldn't have, not in 39, nor in 70, nor in 44. The Soviet soldiers killed 80% of the German army in WW2, that's a figure that even US historians know. Talk about "moron".
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom Typo: "I meant "nor in 40", not "nor in 70" of course
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@THUD086 And you're counting the British colonies? Funny. Ha ha.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@THUD086 YT killed my posts apparently. I'll repeat this one in short. In 39-40, no one could have defeated the German army, certainly not the US, who didn't have the equipment until three years later. No need to mock the FR or UK for 39-40, and act all proud. When the US came in, it knew most Germans were kept busy on the eastern front, when in 39 most of German army was on the western front. Simple as that.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@THUD086 Without the Russians, forget about D-Day too. Most German troops would have been there to make the invasion a disaster, not just a 5th of it. The US chose the right fighting conditions to make them look good, as usual. They're very good at that, looking good.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@Onaryc59 Woulda' coulda' shoulda' doesn't matter. You say we chose conditions to "look good"? Tell that to the men who landed at Omaha Beach. It wasn't called bloody Omaha caused it "looked good". As for climbing the cliff's a Point du Hoc, go look at em' yourself and tell me we chose them to "look good". We were also fighting the Japanese Empire, perhaps the finest navy on the face of the earth at that time, so don't give me that German crap about the Russians.
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago

Onaryc59 11 months ago
@THUD086 "hasn't been a war since"? You must be blind. There has ALWAYS been a war somewhere in the world since the end of WW2. Not counting, thr cold war, terrorism, and so on. Somuch for the great US peacekeeper. And if you look up the death toll for WW2, you'll find the US were far from the ones who suffered the most. It can be found easily on the web.

Onaryc59 11 months ago
@THUD086 Oh come ON. Don't tell me that that has ever stopped the US interfering in any country. If the US has any interest in doing something, it will do it, no matter what other nations think. The US don't give a f*ck about the rest of the world. Of course it does use propaganda along the lines of "we're doing this for your own good". Sometimes. When they think they'll get away with it. yes, France declared, after the Poland invasion, because of the agreement between Poland and France.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@Onaryc59 You and your fellow peacenik liberals pray for your enemies. I'll be killing them so they don't kill you and me. Life is what it is, not what you "intellectuals think it is." And, your Lancaster bomber killed thousands of civilians.

Onaryc59 1 year ago
@Onaryc59 If your relatives were in war it was only for 1 or 2 days which is how long it took the French to surrender in WWII and get their asses handed to them at Dien Ben Phu. Turning the other cheek has served your country well. I suppose you think the Russians liberated your country you elitist ungrateful (see, I took french in college) Enjoy your heritage while you can, France is almost a muslim state due to your lenient immigration policy! Another surrender is imminent!
45trsrf101 11 months ago
@45trsrf101 I'm a bit disappointed. I expected something a bit more aggressive, angrier. No, not "1 or 2" days. Months. 100,000 dead on both sides (german and french). If those 100,000 germans had been there in 1944, the normandy invasion would have failed. As to Vietnam, the french had 50,000 troops there, the US later had 500,000 and B-52s and still got kicked out. And France is much less a muslim country than the US is spanish....
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@Onaryc59 You have me there monsiuer. USA will soon lose California, Arizona, and Texas if they don't solve illegal immigration problem! Didn't know german causalties were so high - thank you France for eliminating so many.
45trsrf101 11 months ago
@45trsrf101 And I thank the US, not for finally fighting the Germans - they would have been defeated without them, byt the Russians - but because it's the Russians who would have liberated France and all of Europe, and what with the French partisans who were communists for the most part, France would have become a communist country. After WW2 that would have been more than horrible, like it was in Poland and such. That is also why the US really went to war in Europe: it didn't need a red Europe!
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@45trsrf101 Also as a US general said in 45, French Resistance (partisans) had the effect of a whole company fighting behind the lines. And taking to the hills isn't that easy when they can take your family as hostages. Think about it. Sending troops to the other side of the world is one thing, but fighting on your own turf is something different entirely. Seems to me the US forget that when they joke about the "surrendering, cowardly" French. I'd love to see them in the same situation.
Onaryc59 11 months ago
@Onaryc59 Agree, French Resistance was awesome and they, their families and towns, faced horrific Gestapo consequences if captured. Neither surrendering nor cowardly. Please quit before I am forced to conceded more points and become more educated - Ha Ha! Au Revoir mon ami.

45trsrf101 11 months ago
@45trsrf101 Also there was WW1 in which MILLIONS of French ppl died, military or civilian, and made the French hate war for decades afterwards. My grandfather fought in it, told me about it, and believe me, it was no movie or video game. So 20 years later they're told, "there's another war on", and you know what? France is the only country sharing a border with Germany that DECLARES war on Germany. Imagine the US declaring war on Vietnam again in 1995 and see what the reaction would have been.
Onaryc59 11 months ago

45trsrf101 1 year ago
@45trsrf101 Most rapes are by heterosexuals. You are intellectually challenged, obviously.
Onaryc59 1 year ago
@Onaryc59 I was referring to heterosexual rapes dumbass. Some human conduct is indisputably wrong. (ex. Murder&Rape) Homosexuality is not one of the indisputably wrong acts. Gays justify homosexuality as freedom. Anyone opposing freedom of choice is ignorant. But, gays oppose freedom of choice too, lest they condone murder and rape. So, their argument is flawed. Acceptance of their conduct is debateable and person who oppose it are not ignorant. They are excercising their freedom.

Onaryc59 1 year ago
@Onaryc59 Actually it does it excuse it. War is the act of killing, of one side dominating another. A warriors job is to destroy the enemy or displace him. To have visual confirmation of either and to have an emotional response of excitement is a natural response. Evil, disgusting, abhorrent? Welp, that is war, and that is how it is done. They shoot at me, I shoot at them... whoever walks away is the winner.
spins321 1 year ago
@spins321 Which... explains it. But doesn't excuse it. You might want to look up those two words. He's happy because he's alive. OK. He's happy because survivors of the napalm attack (which he mentions here) are running away from his guns (of which he seems to be very proud) and he's killing people (probably innocent families), sorry, not excusable. Nothing to be so unashamedly excited about.
Onaryc59 1 year ago
I guess it's dependent on perspective. I'm not a boxer, and I don't really understand the joy a boxer feels after pummeling someone nor why terrorists are elated after killing civilians... actions are justifiable by the individual or group dependent on the situation or their particular goals. In this case, it's unfair to dismiss him by saying he's probably killing civilians. He's in a platform which is typically tasked for close air support. What if he was supporting friendly troops in contact?
spins321 1 year ago
@spins321 Oh, it is dependent on perspective alright, but some perspectives are just wrong, even tho you can explain easily why they exist. I am not dismissing him because he's killing civilians, but because the joy and excitement he's showing in doing so is over the top. Of course I know a guy who enjoys doing this would probably be better at the job than a guy who doesn't. But in fact, that is the whole point. In short : looks like you have to be(come) a psycho to survive in a war.
Onaryc59 1 year ago
You are assuming, without any proof, that he's killing civilians. He may be supporting his own troops in contact on the ground. I would feel elated if I were able to scatter enemy troops attempting to destroy my guys. I would feel a rush if I took out an enemy soldier in the heat of combat. What we don't see is the story that comes after. We don't see what soldiers, on either side, go through years after the events. The full scope of the man is measured over years, not just a snippet of seconds.
spins321 1 year ago
