I flew out of memphis a few months ago and was suprised to see a nwa 747 in terminal B.

You don't see very many in Memphis. Mostly twin engine plans. But 3 engines (Fed EX) are still common to see.

Also the Memphis Air Gaurd is now flying the large G5 Galaxy. There really big.

The flight came from AMS which uses an A330...and its the only int'l flight out of MEM using that aircraft.

Northwest, now delta, has had a daily flight to amsterdam from memphis for many years. First it was a KLM MD-11, then a Northwest DC-10, now they use an A330

Yes, it was (is) the largest. The rest were CRJ's and smaller Airbuses (like NWA's A320's).

This flight might have just come in from AMS, and they have/had a close relationship with KLM.

that´s nice if they talk in other languages. We also had a german spoken announcement on a British Airways Flight from London to Munich. Even the Pilot told us how the weather is gonna be in German.

Thanks. It was good. Thought the load factor on the AMS - MEM was not as high as on DTW - AMS. Amsterdam is an amazing airport!

Thank you. On this particular flight it was about 65% of the seating capacity. That was in January '09. 10 hour flight. :/

Wow. Also, do you know if this flight was under the command of a KLM pilot? The captain seemed to have an accent when he came on the intercom, which is not typical with NW pilots.

It was actually one of the flight attendants. I was personally surprised as well. I went ahead to ask the crew whether one of them was Dutch, but they told me that the flight attendant in question was of German origin, and therefore had a "German accent in his Dutch." Interesting. Also, they did not play any music while we boarded the plane to MEM unlike when I flew the DTW - AMS route.

As for the boarding music, its probably the most annoying song you will ever hear on the plane. That's the only track the IFE plays on the intercom.
