I'm 38 and skating again and I'm lovin it!! Bustin all the old school no comply tricks at my local skate park and all the kids are going crazy trying to learn them :)
I Know Him Personally. He's The husband Of A Teacher At My School. He Went To Our School Once. Ray Told Us That If We Want Something From Element, To Tell Him And He'll Give It To Us. For Our Graduation He Gave Us A Element Board.
Dude, that's awesome! One time the baker team was in my old home town, and an am at the time (His name escapes me, might be Anthony something?) gave me his whole board! Complete! Some people are just super generous and giving.
the deck he had in ban this was my first board !ray barbee rules !of course i dont know him personally ,but just by seeing him in a vid ,you just know he s gotta be such a laydback super nice guy !
Damn, "Mr. Smiles" as a kid. I haven't seen this in ages! Oh and "ThePortlandMangin" you're right bro. Skating sure as hell aint what it used to be. Everything is about wearing "sisters pants" and crappy looking flip tricks. This is when the Ollie still was seen as a trick, like it's supposed to be. If these little mainstream kids were even alive when I was a kid and looked like that, no question about a serious ass beating would be in order.
Yea he's obviously some who cant appreciate, this from my skating hey day. It was awesome scene back then, this just as boards are about to even out in the nose and tail kick. .
I'm 17 and i think mainstream skateboarding's mindstate is abysmal now. It's over commercialised, over competitive and completely institutionalised. I wish i was old
Shoot, that's a shame man. My knees are clicking and popping most times, so i'm sure i am in for a bad time when i'm older too. Did you skate hard and were your knees always making noises etc? oh yeah can you still walk and skate?
Yeah, I can skate... well, sort of. Check out my channel I have some videos, old and new. My left knee is a wreck. I do physical therapy 2-3 times a week just to keep it strong enough to skate here and there. Good l
Yeah, I think your video from '91 is amazing and your other recent ones are really good too. It's good to see one of the older generation still skating really well.
Do you have any other early nineties footage by any chance? Keep skating!
@sinebass808 Dude, I just checked out your vids from now...what do ya mean "trying" to skate. I'm 32 so we came up in the same era. I still skate, and am doing pretty much what you're doing, just cruising, pulling some slides and grinds, nothing crazy. and I'm fine with it. I'm having tons of fun. fountain of youth man. I work construction, so I hurt too. It's nuts to try like 10 sets now. Hurts way more than it should. Just givin ya props.
cont...I remember when my shop sponsored mate got one of these boards when they came out. You can see the nose on Barbies board is starting to get a kick. One thing i got to say about these boards is the've got a massive tail kick on it, check it out!!! look at the angle of it!! way bigger than anything today, it was probably to big. yep Barbie was the man in the day, his no complies were wicked
Low standards?? You have no fucking idea what you are talking about. Those guys were PIONEERING shit back then. They laid the groundwork for little FUCKS like you to sponge off of. Let's see YOU go out and PIONEER something in these modern times. You're a little wet-behind-the-ears twit twat piece of fucking shit scab. Go shove your head back up your momma's asshole you little wannabe prick.
"Hanging" for it to "come out"? Huh? They weren't hanging for shit. They were DEFINING it. They were setting the bar as well as raising the bar at the same time.
Man chill out or something, When I say we were "hanging for it to come out" I was talking about propaganda the vide to be released, it wasnt as defining as public domian. So stop taking things out of context and thinking u were a "core" skater more than anyone else, you dont know ppls history.
I know the composer is Chuck Treece, but I can't seem to be able to find it anywhere. He did a lot of the powell videos soundtracks. As well as "Skatemaster Tate"
This was from way back in the day when they still called it street surfing

the 80's seems like a cool time except for harsh racism and the bullies in highschool, but other than that the 80's would be radical

all you 13 year olds looking up old skate videos.... shut up about 'mainstream skateboarding'.
the only person making skating not fun for you is yourself.
