  • Truman - probably the most evil President in US history. directly and indirectly responsible for the deaths of so many.

    - Hiroshima and Nagasaki Atomic bombs - mass murderer of women, children and old civilians

    - creation of Israel

    - interfering in Vietnam (leading to vietnam war)

    - interfering in Korea (See Korea war)

    - medical experiments on blacks in Tuskegee and Guatemalans

You should not be honoring this man America ...

  • Truman said "The atom bomb was no "great decision." It was merely another powerful weapon in the arsenal of righteousness. We thank God that it has come to us, instead of to our enemies; and we pray that He may guide us to use it in His ways and for His purposes."

  • Estimates state up to 200,000 total had died by 1950 from burns, radiation and related disease. From 1950 to 2000, 46% of leukemia deaths and 11% of solid cancer deaths among bomb survivors were due to radiation from the bombs, the statistical excess being estimated to 94 leukemia and 848 solid cancers.

  • Truman made the decision to recognize the establishment of the State of Israel over the objections of Secretary of State George Marshall, who feared it would hurt relations with the Arab states

"I am sorry, gentlemen, but I have to answer to hundreds of thousands who are anxious for the success of Zionism: I do not have hundreds of thousands of Arabs among my constituents."

  • Doctors infected soldiers, prostitutes, prisoners and mental patients with syphilis and other sexually transmitted diseases, without the informed consent of the subjects, and treated most subjects with antibiotics. This resulted in at least 83 deaths

  • Harry Truman was a famous dolphin right?

  • Truman is definitely one of the best presidents this nation has seen along with Lincoln, T.R., F.D.R, and Reagan.

  • fuck his mass murdering ass

  • Truman and Obama have striking similarities: Truman became president in 1945, Republicans won a majority house in 1946 and virtually blocked everything Truman proposed. Truman was expected to lose in 1948 but he won by an upset. Obama became president in 2009, Republicans won a majority house in 2010 and virtually blocked everything Obama proposed. Right now Obama is expected to lose, but he will win in an upset in 2012 due to uninspiring candidates and tea bagging extremists.

  • @wangsta25 TRUE!

  • @wangsta25 A sad but true fact.... I tip my hat to you sir

  • truman is a great president who is underrated

  • @gerjerry99 Reagan 1st and JFK 2nd.

  • sucks

  • He was the third greatest president of the twentieth century.

  • @Boelcke1919 who's first and second then

  • Man you guys are dumb truman was as corrupt as he was dirt stupid .....a real true man was his predecesor.......and shit if the "grand ol party" would give obama a chance he might get somethin done.....but that'll never happen thanx to money crazed white bankers

  • Truman, a... TRUE MAN. HA AHAELJASF. But really, he was pretty awesome.

  • It's amazing reading truman boards- half the posts are in adoration of him, and the other half are hateful of him. Personally, I love Harry!

  • On June 24, 1941, just started the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union, the New York Times published the opinion that he deserved to Truman, then Senator from Missouri simple, that invasion. "United States Truman understood should help either side that seem to be losing. If we see that Germany is winning we should help Russia. If we see that Russia is winning we should help Germany. The point is that to kill between them in the greatest number. "

    This was Truman Yankee

  • Highly recommend "Truman" by David McCullough. Long, but a fascinating book.

  • LOL @ 17:00 the narrator screws up. "Each of the 48 states" ? There's 50, dumbass.

  • @funkmike

Seriously? Both Hawaii and Alaska were incorporated into the union in 1959, ten years after this recording was made. lrn2history.

  • @funkmike, Hawaii and Alaska were not states yet when Truman was president.

  • One of the great Presidents!

  • truman was a great man! may he rest in piece

  • @33guyfawkes 'rest in piece'...lol

  • Murderer of many innocent children, women en man...Hopefully he will burn in hell

  • Shame he lived for so long, should of been executed along with the Nazi War criminals the vile scum.

  • Yo, C-SPAN, Truman did not "win reelection over Thomas Dewey..." He became President when Roosevelt died and was not elected President until 1948.

It's creepy how what Truman said in his inauguration is the opposite of what America has done and the parade reminded me of Red Square on May Day.

  • @Mujangga When he was elected President in 1948 he defeated Thomas Dewey in one of the biggest upset elections ever. Yes, he did "win reelection over Thomas Dewey" despite what you claim. Was he originally elected President? No, because as you said FDR died.

  • its cause of this asshole of a president that people in N.K and china are suffering till today...

  • Harry, what do you think of what the Tea Party's been saying?

"It's a lot of damn bullshit."

    True.

  • @UncleMikeNJ you are right. If he were still living that's probably what he would say.

  • another brave american=)

"If we see that Germany is winning we ought to help Russia and if Russia is winning we ought to help Germany, and that way let them kill as many as possible." (june 24, 1941)

  • Ah yeah... the party of Reagan, Palin, Bachman and B-1 Bob Dornan is the cornerstone of sane, responsible leadership.

  • The democrat party was fairly sane before the baby boomers started voting.

  • @Seaworldexists shut ur lips... democrats have and always will remain true to their democratic cause... from the start of the party, thru the civil war fighting against the ass hole lincoln, all the way up to obama... dont dis my party

  • @wildboy789789 Well I rather liked the democratic party up to the 1960 election. They were the party of individual liberty but unfortunately became the party of statism. I hate the republicans even more so dont feel too bad I'm one of the few remaining dixecrats though I must say Obamas stand against the zionists was very encouraging.

  • If only Dewey had campaigned harder.

  • ALL PRESIDENTS WERE RACIST BEFORE KENNEDY...AND THE BUSH YEARS.

  • Why only 48 states? Perhaps Alaska was "too far to come"?

  • harry truman go to hell he was a fat coward now he burned in his grave

  • Why the Bible kissing? Seriously...is that a freemasonry ritual?

  • ...freakin' FDR's assbitch.

  • If Truman were here today he would nuke Iran

  • thats my high school's name harry s truman high school

  • 1:04 THOSE ARE som big ass buttons..if that one missed and the needle got like...ouch....

  • Not only was Truman a model human being and a highly effective president, he understood the need for health care for all Americans.

  • Comment removed

  • Harry Truman was the Best Democrat President ever. He knew what had to be done and took American foreign policy into the modern era permanently.

I wish Truman was alive today and was elected instead of Obama.

  • @DeathlyReaper217 I would take harry truman over obama anyday

  • @coldkeyes

    Because You’re an American Terrorist

  • @TheNewnice how am I an american terrorist?

  • @coldkeyes

Read History pls ...read about the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

  • @TheNewnice Would you rather get out troops killed on the shores of japan? Than use the atomic bomb? I'm glad he used it, I wouldn't want to send troops to their deaths, and by the way I have read history, and I'm in favor of the bomb to end the war

  • I just prefer on president over the other, I don't care about skin color at all, skin color is not important

  • @coldkeyes President Truman would have respected President Obama.

  • @coldkeyes i need a time machine to bring henry wallace to the future

  • I hope this son of a bitch burn in hell all eternity

  • @paygi110709 Your mother are bitch. Idiot

  • Mi mon is a lady, and Im sure your mon to...

Anyway, this Truman is murder and a genogide, the hell is the place for this people.

  • Truman was the worst fool this country ever had. For 4 golden years only we had the Bomb; for 8 years after only we could strike a distant target. Truman wasted this time and let Russia catch up. If we had used it right away there would have been no Stalin, Khrushchev, Brezhnev or Mao and we wouldn't have a single enemy today. 500 years from now Truman will be a swear word like Benedict Arnold, Quisling and Judas; it will mean cowardice and stupidity and will start fights in schools and bars.

  • @72gisele That is quite possibly the most stupid comment I have ever read. WHy didn't Ike use it after him? We still had the only H-bomb in the world at that point, the Russians only had the A-bomb at this point. How are China, and Russia our enemies now? Why would we have wanted to wipe them out as they have not done anything to us? We obviously came out ahead politically and economically. People like you should be fixed so you can't procreate and spread your stupidity!

  • @72gisele I suppose then your argument is that we could have saved the world by destroying most of it and its people;

  • @amper314 Fuck you too, Fuck you too, Fuck you too

  • @amper314 f*** urself

  • We don't have parades like that anymore. We bacame apathetic, complacent, even disrespectful of our own military power and civil virtue. We became more concerned with luxury and laxness of life than with the discipline of citizenship. Let us come together now by choice, lest we wait until the full assault of future war or crisis awakens us without choice.

  • yeh harry truman! that was a cool president... not like obama or bush...

    greets from germany

  • Harry Truman would be crucified by todays Republican Party. He and Ike would cringe if they could see what's happened to their party.

  • @XOkie Truman was a democrat...

  • @XOkie He was a democrat genius. Remember when FDR died his VP (a Democrat) took his place. Go back to school dip shit!

  • Upload George Washington's Inauguration!

  • Give em HELL Harry! Harry was the 33rd President of the United States. The announcer

was under the influence of a control substance!

  • Best President ever. Strong, principled, moral, standing strong against corruption, and let's not forget that he blew the living shizznit out of japan.

  • And i was there ,, 22nd Marines from Quantico

  • The World Wide Radio??? Hey I want that where did that technology go?

  • A true American hero.

  • I'm a Republican but LOVE Truman. He was a no-nosense leader, and wasn't afraid to stand up for what he believed in. That is what we need in a leader, regardless of his party. I am a Republican because I believe in many of the things they do. I look for a candidate who honors the constitution and the individual principles on which this country was founded on. That is why I like Truman and Ike. Kennedy and Nixon Ford and Reagan - They believed in the individual rights of the people.

  • @SavageArmsMan I'm a Democrat, but sometimes I lean Independent. Anyway, I respect Republicans like you, who don't smear a President simply because he's from the 'other' party. You vote for a candidate who you believe will benefit our country, instead of voting for a guy simply because he represents your party. I'm the same way, I will vote for a member of any party that I feel is the best choice at the time.

  • @SexSteakSoda

General Yeager's dad met Truman once at a dinner party. He refused to shake Truman's hand because apparently even then 'the only good Democrat had yet to be born'

  • lol truman is gonna be burning in atomic hell

  • Grover Cleveland was elected twice in two non-consecutive terms. Therefore he is usually counted as two Presidents. Thus Truman is counted as 33rd, but was actually the 32nd person to be President.

  • Wow. The Democrats used to be supportable! What happened?

  • @grangeender1 Truman hated Republicans, thought most of them were crooks, and routinely called them out for it in his speeches, and had no tolerance whatsoever for graft and corrpution. The Democratic party needs to do more research about him. He'd be disgusted with some of their pansy behavior since LBJ. I like Clinton, but even he made himself a centrist after failing in the promotion of some of the liberal tenets that he felt were a mandate by the voting out of GHWB.

  • when democrats had balls, before the '50's infection with frankurt school new left relativism (or was it always there?)

  • Tell it like it is Harry! "That false philosophy is Communism!" No fluff with this guy!

  • love the tophats

  • I think part of this speech was edited out...

  • how tragic. in 60 years we've gone from harry truman to .......

  • Canibus - The Grand Deception

  • Yeah he was president from 1945-1953

  • Shut the fuck up, Spic. You have nothing to say about WWII.

  • wow, I like the hats..people had style back then...

  • A great President--COURAGE, COURAGE, COURAGE!...

That was H.T. to a tee!...

Whether it was fighting w/ republicand or battling far-left Democrats...he had the will and the character to see it all through.

    A great man...!

  • Man!!! Just listen to the commentary run down in the background and compare it to the crap and incompetence on today's media.

  • A great leader. Now compare this man to the pandering frauds Clintoon and Obama...empty men, with empty speeches who resemble Grade Z sit com actors.

  • Good stuff Harry; we need leaders with real BALLS not sissies like Obama

  • One of the thing you don't realize is that Obama is still a black man and has to tread carefully. Even without belligerence, he's being perceived as arrogant by many whites, including you. So, he's not using belligerence, rather, he's using soft power--wisdom.

  • Leston , this is not about black or white. why is it dat everytime someone points out Obama's flaws ur quick to run and hide under the rock of racism. when a black basketballer fails to make a shot, is it racism or poor performance:.. All the worlds great leaders made tuff decisons, they dint hide their spaghettis spines by so called soft power wisdom. How come Ahmadinejad isnt in bed with Obama already? so much for soft power!

  • Truman will forever be known as "THe Badass". Now and forever, GIVE 'EM HELL HARRY!!!!!!!!

  • its interesting how Truman differentiates the US against communisim/ totalitarianism and shows a backbone in justifying democracy. How refreshing. Obama , on the other hand, apologizes for US beligerence and tells third world dictators they have an equal say. Obama is a fraud with a supect character.

  • It was a diffirent time period then.

Right then the United States played a huge role in defeating Nazi Germany and saving the world from the tyranny of Facism.

Fast forward 60 years, the United States has been involved in the backing of many military dictators that have caused the suffering of millions and has invaded many countries (notably Vietnam and Iraq among others), mistakes have been made. Other then Hiroshima, there was nothing "regrettable" done, therefore nothing to apologize for.

  • genocide

  • Read David McCullough's Pulitzer Prize winning "Truman".

Might change your viewpoint on the man.

  • Harry S Truman was a great president.

  • I'm afraid not. He wasn't as disastrous as Woodrow Wilson, but thank heaven Eisenhower succeeded one of the most unpopular presidents in our history.

  • You appear to know little about American history or of the significance of the decisions made by President Truman during his administration. He understood America and it's founding principles. I agree with Lee Iacocca when he wrote in his book, "Where Have all the Leaders Gone?" every American should thank Harry Truman for having saved the world.

  • You must be a real uptight Republican then

  • Eisenhower and Taft Republicans bore no resemblance to the uptight crazies who now control the Republican Party; today's crazy Democrats bear no resemblance to Democrats in Truman's time, either. The USA has gone to hell.

  • Oh ok

  • Yeah, I can't decide as my favorite President between him and Lyndon B. Johnson, Truman made a wise, yet huge, decision to drop that bomb to end WWII.

Did you know that two men tried to assassinate Harry S. Truman? Their names are Griselio Torresola and Oscar Collazo and they are lucky to not have gotten their asses capped like Leon F. Czolgosz did.

  • Great post, starfox. I too have a hard time deciding between Lyndon and Harry, but I applaud both of them for their feisty, strong handed ways.

Leon's last words were supposedly, "Flippa de swtch, I NO CARE!" (bzzzzz bbzzzzzzz zzzzzz...)

  • @fatassedpony I agree he was also a great piano player too

  • I was wrong on his birthdate. It's May 8th, I must have had the day mixed up. But he was born May 8, 1884. I have no idea WHERE you got 1881 from.

  • Comment removed

  • You Dumb ASS fdr died from age and disase not killed by a wepon.

  • The Greatest President of the 20th Century. He is my third favorite president.

  • Like we give one turd of one shit what your list of favorite presidents is...

  • Sorry. I will leave you alone.

  • Today is Harry's 125th Birthday!

  • Better check that math again. Truman was born in 1881.

  • Yeah, I stand corrected. I don't know why I thought it was 1881. I have egg on my computer now.

  • Truman is such a classy individual.

Any man would be honored to call him friend brother or father .

  • Harry Truman was truly ahead of his time. His support for health care and civil rights before popular support for those issues was common killed any chance of re-election in 1952. (He was the last president who could theoretically be elected to a third term).

One wonders what he would have thought of the progress since.

  • Harry Truman a very decent human being with no false pretenses. He was the last President that did not have a college education. Even though he used terms like 'nigra', he rose above that and risked his Presidency to apply the priciple of equal jusitce for all by standing up to segregationist. His decision to desegregate the military through executive order , even though waterd down was heroic and caused Sen. Strom Thurmond to run against him as a Dixiecrat. His judical appts were second rate.

  • Three Cheers for Harry, America and St..........?

If HST were alive he would have dozens of these clowns we have today in office today in front of a firing squad on the fourth of July. I will be trying to raise Harry from the dead later today. I dion't think I will succeed (Truman's wife may object) but those who beleive in "sic semper tyrannus" wish me luck!

  • Any fucking idiot who thinks Truman did the wrong thing in Asia, Korea, or Japan, should burn in hell.

  • 2:38 32nd president? Truman was the 33rd president, not the 32nd.

  • Yes, but Grover Cleveland served two non-consecutive terms. To-day, we tend to acknowledge him as both the 22nd and the 24th President. But then, there was always a discrepancy; if one views the New York Times from the day after Kennedy's inagural, he can see a small subtitle that reads (and I paraphrase): "Kennedy is either 34th or 35th President depending on system used."

  • @puttputtking Interesting! It depends on whether you count Grover Cleveland once or twice. Because he served two separate terms, the custom has been to count him twice. If you do that, Truman is 33rd president; if you don't then every president since Cleveland goes down one in number. And Obama would be the 43rd, not the 44th.

  • @puttputtking well, he would be the 32nd if you count Cleveland's two nonconsecutive terms as one, but yes, you're right

  • @puttputtking In those days some argued that Stephen Grover Cleveland who served two non consecutive terms as President was the 22 president, instead of being the 22 as well as the 24th President.

  • @puttputtking He was technically the 32nd person so serve as President in light of the fact that Grover Cleveland served two non-consecutive terms and was therefore both the 22nd and 24th President. That might be why Truman is referred to here as the 32nd President. However, you're right that he is still generally considered the 33rd President.

  • @puttputtking They didn't count Grover Cleveland's two, non-consecutive terms as different presidencies until after this was filmed.

  • @puttputtking Truman was the 32nd man to serve as president because Grover Cleveland served two inconsecutive terms. So technically he was the 32nd president.

  • @puttputtking The confusion results from the fact that Grover Cleveland served non-consecutive terms, 1885 to 1889 and 1893-1897. Eventually, it was decided that Cleveland would be counted as the 22nd President and as the 24th President. Under that numbering system, Truman is the 33rd President, but only the 32nd person to actually hold the office, since Cleveland is being counted twice.

  • Wow. Nothing about Obama's parents in the comment section. I'm shocked

  • Truman and his masons wanted to create a frozen conflict where both parties would stuggle to arm themself all the time, making rich only the arm-dealers (masons)and world bankers that financed both comunists and western party

  • im pretty sure he meant all white men r equal

    lol...

    jk im not hating

    trooman ftw

  • No, he means all MEN are created equal.

  • or a more destructive weapon

  • Japan would never surrender unless an atomic bomb is dropped.

  • And it doesn't do anything for the relatives of those americans who dies in the Baatan death march, or in the Japanese POW camps, I guess. There was NOTHING good about this war, but I assure you Japan intended to destroy us. Fortunately, we destroyed them first. War sux, but that's just the truth.

  • And as far as Truman being "a monster"...I think the policies he put in place after the war for building up and supporting Japan and Germany and rebuilding them says quite a lot. We could certainly have treated them much more harshly than we did, and the public sentiment at the time certainly was't "conciliatory" but he stood up against it. We certainly treated them better than we would have gotten had the outcome been different and we had lost the war.

  • In the contrary, Quick; I don't like the atom bomb either, but it certainly ended the war. Besides which, the Japanese (at the time) were absolutely ruthless, and if the results had been different and THEY had won, they would certainly not have helped us afterward as we did them. And they would not have hesitated a spit second to drop one on us. The times were much different then, and Truman was interested in saving AMERICAN lives. I agree with his decision.

  • Quick, you're full of it. The only way that the United States could have pressured Japan into surrender without the atomic bomb would have been to invade Japan (a plan which was already under way), and which would have cost hundreds of thousands more american lives. As President, Truman had NO other choice.

  • The end does not always justify the means, especially in this case. There is no excuse to drop atomic weapons on innocent civilians and Truman would have done just fine pressuring Japan into surrender without nuclear weapons.

  • While at the same time having alot more American lives lost. Had there been an invasion, more Japanese citizens would have been killed, and the outcome more heartbreaking. I agree that the bomb is more terrifying, but at the time, it was nesscessary.

  • But he saved Japan from communist rule.

  • I'd say Harry Truman's one of the worst U.S. presidents. He dropped two atomic bombs on two different cities with lots of innocent civilians (including women and children) and contaminated those areas with radiation that would permeate for centuries to come. And after that, I'm surprised we still have Nuclear weapons. They're supposed to be there to keep us safe but I don't feel any safer with those things in our arsenals and we're no better than the 3rd Reich for ever using them.

  • I agree with you there

  • You haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about. Truman saved MILLIONS of lives (American and Japanese) by dropping the bomb. If we didn't drop the bomb, we would've launched an all-out invasion of Japan, and completely levelled the country. True that brought us into the Nuclear era, but we haven't had another world war yet, have we? They do keep us safe because after Hiroshima and Nagasaki mankind is afraid to use them again, and hopefully we never do.

  • How can you tell that he would have saved millions more lives anyway? The United States could have driven Japan into surrender without nuclear weapons. Your argument gives no excuse for Truman's use of the A-Bombs: there is no rationale for using such devastating weapons, using the atomic bombs had made Truman just as much of a monster as Heinrich Himmler, Hitler, and Tojo.

  • You obviously don't know anything about history, because even after we dropped the first bomb the Japaneses showed no signs or actions of surrender. Their government was prepared to destroy the entire country rather than surrender, just like Germany. You sound like an ignoramus and a simpleton comparing Harry Truman to Hitler. Truman saved the world from going communist and kept millions of people free. Crack open a book, then come talk to me

  • I went to school and for over a decade of History classes, I learned my fair share of WWII history and I still say that there is NEVER any excuse to use an Atomic weapon. Nobody, no matter how unscrupulous they are, deserves to have an atomic bomb drop on them and have the land around them contaminated with radiation.

  • Nice arm-chair heinseight, except at the time the affects of radiation and the long-term consequences weren't yet known. If they were we would have never detonated the experimental bomb in Los Alamos, New Mexico. It has nothing to do with "unscrupulous", it was done to end the most destructive war ever. Do you think the Germays and Japan wouldn't have used it against us? Besides, for 69 peril-filled years, the nuke has kept the world from having another war because everyone is afraid to use it.

  • Speaking of Germans, did you know they were defeated before the Atom bombs fell? That little tidbit drove Japan further into surrender without nuclear weapons. And yeah, I'm sure the axis powers would have used the atomic bombs against us, but if we too retaliated with a nuclear strike we would have been no better than they were.

And no, the nuke did not keep us safe especially when you consider the Bay of Pigs incident.

  • This is insane. Yeah Germany was defeated prior to that, but that doesn't mean the Japanese were gonna just roll over and give up. The estimates for American losses in a Japanese invasion were (at the time!) 250,000-500,00, and the war extending into summer/fall of 1946. My Dad and Uncle were two of those who were scheduled to be headed to Japan for that invasion. Say what you want; The decision ended the war and saved hundreds of thousands of American lives.

  • I don't mean to offend you, but that really does not justify the deaths of millions of innocent civilians And it certainly does not amuse people who had friends and relatives who died in the atomic attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

  • Of course I know that, Germany surreneder in May '45. And what are you talking about "that tiny little tidbit caused them to surrender"!? JAPAN SHOWED NO SIGNS OF SURRENDER!! Their fascistic government was prepared to kill every civilian in combat before we dropped the bomb. We survived Bay of Pigs with no fighting. I don't know where you went to school, but maybe you should go back. Or maybe you just fell asleep in history class, because your lack of knowledge is astounding.
