3:30 They should've had this part in the Riding Giants film. RIP Foo ...every time I leave something at your memorial at Pillar Point, a week later it's gone ...fuckin' thieves. Tweekers suck.
i actually bought the original vhs tape of this video 4 .....25 cents at a garage sale and watched it ...very sad too see.. rip foo...died doin his thihg though.......
@liambro7 Not. I was there that day and it was alot bigger than it looked with a west swell which is far more dangerous as it pushes straight into the rocks where a north swell floats you around them. Also, west swells "split" and double up at Mavericks making the wave seem to back off only to have the entire bottom drop out into oblivion. Note the boil right where Mark Foo is falling. That is a bad spot called "the cauldron". Bad caves, arches and pinnicles under there along with sea monsters.
The interview at 3:40 in this video, is the interview that the other dude in the video "The Death Of Mark Foo" is talking about. When he says Parsons comes up and feels Little underneath him trying to get up. But Little was already up so it might have been Foo. That's crazy that this is the interview that he's talking about. It starts at 3:44 in "The Death Of Mark Foo" is when he start talking about this clip.
@WilsonAbrego the guy riding the wave with Parsons is Brock Little. Mark Foo wiped out in the wave before that, he had a two wave hold down because he could not disengage the leash from his ankle. Parsons says that Brock made it out, so it's most likely that Foo was the one he felt contact with underwater.
The part where parson is in the boat, and the guy is asking about foo, or brock little, belongs to a movie i can´t recall the name, but if someone knows, please tell me the name. This movie also contains steamer lane, pipelilne, santa monica etc.
I WANTED to see this spot in 1998 and must have been at a restaurant just a mile from it, I asked them if the knew where mavericks was and no one knew
Watching the wipeouts is the best part of Big Wave Surfing, but seeing that Mark Foo footage puts things back into perspective real quick "sad". RIP Mark Foo.
Its people like Mark Foo that strive to push there sport to the next level.

Great song. Terrible story. Mark Foo is a symbol of valor for the average bear who's afraid to pursue his dreams.

You can go to smaller waves. Even in Hawai you have a lot of place where waves are great and allmost inocuitous (well if you can swim of course)
