My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE STORY EVER. I've read the book so many times I cannot count, and the series is insurpassable. I've heard talk of a remake; pointless to me. I will not watch it, as no one can out do Anthony Andrews or Jeremy Irons. No way. Perfection should not be messed with.
Brideshead Revisited just is the best bit of television ever, so much so that I don't even need to qualify it. Citizen Kane is probably the best film ever, The Last Supper migh be the best painting ever but Brideshead Revisited just is the best thing ever on television.
"But I was in search of love in those days, and I went full of curiosity and the faint, unrecognised apprehension that here, at last I should find that low door in the wall, which others, I knew had found before me, which opened on an enclosed and enchanted garden, which was somewhere, not overlooked by any window, in the heart of that grey city." Charles.
Great clip. I have the Brideshead series on 4 DVD'S. The Brideshead music, and the content can so easily become addictive! If you can afford the 4 (not the 3) DVD edition, I recommend it. Good picture quality, and lots of 'extras'. May find it cheaper on one of the well known sites. Can't mention names, less I'm banned from Youtube!

@selfidentity1 It's ALL there, just as it was in the 1981 TV series...with many thanks to D0nalF0ley for the wonderful post.

Great story, but they just don`t have the spirit right at all. Sebastian should look "happily negligent" and be much more carefree and whimsical.

I own both sets, I like having one without the extras. Old Etonians: "What are they doing in there? Looks like a bloody prayer meeting to me!"

LegionCondor, and all. The quote is one of many pieces from the film/novel. Wonderful.

I suspect it was love at first sight, despite the unusual circunstances!

"To understand all, is to forgive all".
"Yes".
Waugh has a wonderful turn of phrase.
An inauspicious start, to what was to become a lifelong friendship.
Brideshead is in my top five, of films on DVD.

Possibly my favourite part of Brideshead, just for the look on Charles's face. :)
