Of course I know that you can purchase semi-automatic Bushmaster AR15s and AK47s. The Columbine kids used semi-automatic weapons that were legal; you're right. The assault weapon didn't ban anything. It simply made these guns looks "less scary" and mag capacity was capped at 10 rounds.
Full auto assault weapons are illegal to own unless they are made before 1989.
So they didn;t have assault weapons... they had a shitty hi-point carbine, a shitty tec-9 jam-0-matic and two junk offbrand shotguns.
So they had perfectly legal weapons, The assault weapon ban was already in effect, and it didn't save anyone.

I really don't know what you're talking about. I was not referring to the Columbine kids. I was referring to the ability to obtain assault rifles in general. Of course I know that you can purchase semi-automatic Bushmaster AR15s and AK47s. The Columbine kids used semi-automatic weapons that were legal; you're right. I was simply commenting on that guy who was talking about assualt rifles.
By the way, I'm an avid hunter and gun enthusiast. I own many handguns and rifles.

The guns used were two 12-gauge sawn off (<- illegal) shotguns (illegally purchased), a Kel Tec Tec-9 handgun (illegally purchased), and a Hi-Point pistol carbine (pistol with a stock). Learn your stuff. What do you think even makes an "assault rifle"? What makes a submachine gun?

Charlton Heston sure didn't show any consideration for the families and loved one of those who were killed, nor for the other victims who were injured and traumatized. He had his right to his opinion, but only ten days after? I remember purchasing the Ten Commandment he stared in and thinking what a great actor he was. I guess he was a better actor than I realized because I thought it was a man of good character. He should have received more awards for his acting abilities.

Once again Michael Moore is misrepresenting the truth. Why are the NRA bad guys? Neither of the Columbine shooters were NRA members, the NRA preaches responsible firearm use. I'd say at least some of the Police Officers who responded to Columbine were NRA members. The NRA tries to prevent tragedies like this by teaching firearm safety. Has anyone here criticizing the NRA ever actually been to an NRA meeting? How come nobody is criticizing the shooters, clearly this is their fault.

So clearly, people who propagate that owning firearms to protect yourself makes your country a safer place to be are LYING! But in the United States, citizens are SUPPOSED to have a certain degree of responsibility, and the right to own firearms shows that citizens in this country have freedoms and enough trust to be responsible. If the government takes that away from common citizens, that's just one more step in dumbing them down and implying they aren't capable of doing the right thing. Neither could anyone steal my gun, there could not be any accident with my gun, etc. Now, extrapolate - we have 80 Million citizens, and only a tiny fraction has a gun. We have almost no shootings here. You have a lot more citizens, and almost everyone has a gun. You have approx. 30 000 shootings a year. So, as a responsible citizen, you should give up this right. It serves no good.

Most of those shootings take place in bad parts of the city, where gang bangers and people who are a liability to this country live (most of them vote Democrat, which means they want the government to take money from successful people and give it to them, even though they are the cause for most of the violence in this country).
