@cjellwood by making it go a longer distance. (ie, if you bounce light of a mirror a ten thousand miles away, you can time...roughly... how long it takes to get there and back with a stopwatch). Obviously thats an exaggerated example, but remember electrical circuits go at basically light speed too, so the difference doesnt need to be that much.
