@slouch12001 This was when they first started performing. Everyone has to start somewhere. Let's give them some points for effort. They got better as time went on.
this was 31th december 1962, they started playing live as a band in 57, then in 58 george joined, so george john and paul were palying together for 5 years and ringo with them for quite a half year by the.
this is just the raw energy of the stage, the beatles didn't get a harder faster and more powerfull live band than this, but their best songs from this set are roll over beethoven and long tall sally.
@OropherThranduil I know the Beatles' history, but this was still before they would achieve fame, and were still honing their skills. They came a long way from 1957, and only got better after they first performed in Hamburg.
@OropherThranduil I'm glad someone thinks that way. You wouldn't believe the nasty comments Who fans make about the Beatles, and judging from some of the live TV appearances the Who did in the late sixties, they were not on par with the Beatles in terms of performance quality.
@CentraCross You've got to separate recording quality from performance quality. You have to LISTEN. And a you tube video is a poor substitute for a good quality record player and hi-fi system, which is how I first heard this record. The performance energy and playing is astounding. The Beatles were WAY ahead of what people were playing as "rock 'n' roll" in 1962.
@dougalmac54 All right - if I LISTEN I'm still not gonna find any flaws - I don't think I would if this was in perfect quality, but I might. It's very difficult to evaluate a performance if you can't hear what they're playing.
The only thing wrong with these recordings is that it was recorded on an
old primitive reel to reel tape! But other than that, THE BEATLES KICKED
OUT THE JAMS AND SHOOK THE FOUNDATIONS!!!! LOL
There is nothing absolutely wrong with these performances.
THIS IS THE BEATLES PURE,RAW AND UNADULTERATED!!!!!!!!
For those critics and naysayers: YOU'RE FAIRWEATHERED BEATLES
FANS THAT BUY TO THE SLEEK, POLISHED, MYTH! (FOOLS!)
YOU PEOPLE FORGET..... THE BEATLES CAME OF AGE IN HAMBURG.

this is the hardest and fastest live set of 62 by british invasion bands.
trust me, the who sounded like a piece of shit when they started.

and that was 2 years later.

the raw energy of those star club takes is astounding.
yeah, they got better as overall musicians, but not as a live band because of the wy they had to give concerts, that's johns own words.
but the rooftop show shows that thy could have become a HUGE live act, i mean that was just so much fun and spontaneious, imagine them at woodstock.

@slouch12001 You hear but you don't listen. This is absolutely balls to the wall energy, way ahead of it's time. You really don't have a clue.
