Anyone who has the xbox version its even easier b/c you just have to push down on the left analog stick. Snake automatically aims and doesn't fire a shot lol

@Godzillarex I actually just got the Platinum trophy a few days ago by beating Extreme Mode which was a relief. It was so hard to beat. I can now move on and start Snake Eater :D

If you don't care about the score (just completion for platinum) I suggest the ol' wall-bang trick. Draw the first four to you, then, the last four can be brought to the hallway where the first four started while you hide in the east-hall entrance.

Cheap, but effective. Still, the guy who performed in this video has mad skills. After about 100+ continues I gave up and just went with what worked. Props though for "showing" us how it is done Godzillarex!

Thanks for these strategies! I'm finally done with this damn Hold Up stuff! Thank God! Mission 7 is one of the most evil things ever designed. I finally got it after 150 something retries. You see, the more nervous you are, the more you'll screw up the button pressing... Argh! If this can help some people, you can just run in a straight line between the guards by using the D-Pad to do it. By using this tactic and taping the goddamn L1 Button pressed, it removed stuff to concentrate on. ^_^

You think holding guards up with the M4 was hard enough? How about a version in which you had to find the weapon before commencing with the mission?

Cannot say thank you enough. Only reason I got through missions 8-10 is because of this video.

I'd also like to say that whoever made it so you have to use an M4 for these missions is a masochistic asshole.

@3DarkLink6 You do that by barely pressing the square button, and slowly releasing it. Remember the buttons on the controller are pressure sensitive. Hope that helps!

Yeah it's a pain in the ass, makes me wonder how you're supposed to do it on the Xbox 360 version considering the buttons AREN'T pressure sensitive, and even more strange, the original Xbox controller (I originally had MGS2-S on Xbox 1) IS pressure sensitive =/

I have the PS3 version of the HD Collection regardless, I'm just speculating :P

This is level 8 BTW. I actually follow them exactly, timing and everything yet it still doesnt work. This 9 and 10 are the only 3 missions I have left out of all of them so it is really frustrating when i am seen for no reason.. (2.28 on the clock in level 8)

I played the level again, and the other guard can actually "huh?" you just like you said.

So in order to prevent this, make sure you are knocking in the exact spot I knocked in (guide yourself by the mark on the floor), and make sure you take that tiny pause at around 2:55:98 on the game clock, and everything should work out just fine.

Man I cant do this level, Ive watched a lot of videos yet I am always seen by the 3rd tengu. At 2.28 everytime it always goes '?' and by the time i reach the bottom of the stairs the 3rd guy sees me. Ive tried so many strats, yet everytime its the other tengu who gets me, yet this never happens in any video.

you need to finish all of pliskins/snakes/tux snakes missions to unlock mgs1 snake.

...or you can just enter your name as Hideo Kojima as your account to unlock all levels (minus the 100% completion)
