@Relish001 It's actually not a reggae sample but an Aretha Franklin song called One Step Ahead. It is the same song that Mos Def's Ms. Fat Booty sampled. A three of these songs are truly amazing.
@Relish001 It is actually not a reggae song that Exile samples here but an Aretha Franklin song called One Step Ahead. In fact that song was also the song sampled in Mos Def's Ms. Fat Booty. All three of these songs are classics.
these song were made a while ago but were just released, although i personally thonk Blu's music has always been great, even when it seems to suck b/c he always has a reason
@PASSERO7 Im pretty sure these songs came out a couple years ago. They have so much soul. I mean every song on this album was dope for me. Below the Heavens same thing. NoYork was hit, and miss for me. Some of its just noise, nonsense in an attempt to be creative. I mean Im definitely not saying he not good anymore. Dudes the realest artist out there, and my favorite, but some of his new stuff Im just not feeling.
@PASSERO7 I think I might have worded this wrong. Give me Flowers is a dope album. Every song is creative, and soulful. NoYork on the other hand was trash. It had like 2, 3 good songs, everything else was just noise, and it was hyped up ode. If you disagree alright, but the only thing separating the underground from the mainstream is the fans. People who understand true hiphop, crave, and want it. If your gonna back up Artist just cause your fan, your an idiot, cancer for good music
@adrian199151 i do agree that no york wasn't that great, but what i consider garbage is rappers like lil wayne, everyone else in young money waka flocka flamer, oj da juice man. etc. all of those shitty rappers who make no sense in their shitty rapping.
@PASSERO7 And people support those "artists" blindly. They could release any kinda bs song, or album and people are gonna play shit nonstop. Nobody questions it. Blu is a phenomenal artist, but when I hear an album like NoYork come from someone with his talent, and compare it his prior songs, it's awful. And I'm gonna question it. I'm bring it up, and pray he changes back to the same old Blu. That's what true fans are supposed do.
@adrian199151 you cant expect him to be "the same old blu" he's constantly changing as a person and his music reflects that. i would honestly be dissapointed in blu if he took your advice. he should continue to push the boundries in all that he pursues. he's even said that he'll probably move away from rapping after a while, which bums me out but also makes me hyped to see what he goes after next cause im sure itll be dope
@adrian199151 Blu has been talking a lot about how much he wants to experiment in AND out of music so you cant expect every endeavor he pursues to be perfect. like you said, his older stuff is borderline masterpieces and i think he would be stupid to stick to the same old shit on every album. also blu doesnt influence his own hype and he might even go so far as to agree with you seeing how he released noyork on the internet like a week before it was supposed to hit stores. hes just getin started
@adrian199151 dude this and below the heavens are both mad dope. i'm talking blu & exile collabs. if you don't feel this shit your soul is non existent.
@adrian199151 It's cool to have an opinion but Blu is not 'borderline' anything... whatever you think of the direction he's taken, there's no half measures when it comes to Blu.. it's either classic or it's not.
@adrian199151 I can understand if you aren't feelin' NoYork! but Blu kills it on give me my flowers. It's different enough from BTH that it's not just the same old Blu & Exile but so good. Go back to school. Shout out to Exile.
you guys are wasting type. dope track.

I love when Exile uses these Reggae samples! It feels like the Emanon Days like the track "Count Your Blessings"
