Yknow, watching this video, the obvious comes to mind that Ian was so bizarre in his style of dance, and people always say that shite, but I'm here to defend him. It's more or less mesmerizing to watch that crap, and if you really pay attention you'll realize that he was just feeling the music when he went into spastics. Imagine the way you might react if you had such a great band backing yourself and then rethink your whole idea about the ian curtis epilepsy dance inside joke or whatever.
