Um...Abraham Lincoln didn't like slavery, but he was not out to try and stop it in the South; he realized that would have been politically impossible. So the only "state's rights,' being hindered were the 'state's rights to EXPAND slavery.'

As the war progressed Lincoln did come to the decision that the only want to fully resolve the issue was just delete the practice of slavery all together, which he did in 1863. Later, ex slaves got (officially) the right to vote/full citizenship: 14th Amend

FWIW:Abraham Lincoln was strongly against the EXPANSION of slavery into the North or into new States (but slavery in the south not challenged). It was the so-called Missouri Compromise of 1850 that was allowing for slavery EXPANSION and causing great bloodshed as possible new states considered/voted on their preference (like in 'Kansas, Bloody Kansas'). But when secession started, the issue for North. became keeping the country together

@littlebud66 the war wasnt about slavery like people try and make it be. what happened was the norht tried to change the south in the blink of an eye. while the south had always had slaves and the north did too until they replaced them with industry. The civil war was really about states rights.

Its a regular strategy game not rts but its really fun. Gameplay i ok but its a great time waster :). Also you can have great battles in this game. The graphics are ok but gameplay is great :). MP is well not even MP nobody host games :/ overall is great for me but you should try it :)

i like this gameand i figured:

cavalry: is good against other cavalry and soldiers(melee combat only).

soldiers: good against milita and cavalry(gunfire only)

militia: cheap men that only works in its cheapness.

canons: strikes the enemy before the hit, making the enemy scater, so cant get far without collum.

general: why use him? he is only good for reinforcing artillery positions.

i love this game and heres why: the campaign is really awsome theres alot of missions and you get to play as both sides north and south. some of the missions are really challenging too so you have to use strategy and heck it was only 20 bucks i think it was well worth it. and it might be turned based but that doesnt bother me. i like those total war games better but this was just something different.

and dont let people talk you out of buying a game everyone is different if you want it buy it
