Apparently Kirsten is in 'recovery' from anorexia. Seems to me she doesn't look that recovered. I was diagnosed with anorexia 13 years, but have maintained a healthy weight for about 3 years now. While she has certain body measurements to adhere to in this pageant, she looks much thinner then the rest of the girls. I respect her for having an interest in helping e.d victims, but please, continue your recovery 'cause you still look unhealthy.

I thought this "modernization" of the pageant kinda made it more sexist and more "objectifying" of the contestants than it was in the old version. It was MORE focused on looks -- AND conformity! All they did was make the girls' looks slightly more trendy (aka, socially acceptable by the middle class). The "reality" element" made the producers seem a lot dumber and SHALLOWER than the contestants. AND adding a DJ on stage? Embarrassing. Back to the old format, please!
This pageant needs to return to Atlantic City. The best thing it has going for it is its sense of history and tradition. Moving it to Las Vegas just cheapens the entire luster of the pageant.

The point is, black is beautiful and for white people to systematically discriminate against African Americans in beauty contests is wrong. And in an unrelated note, I am voting for Barack Obama but not because he is a handsome black man but because he is going to bring about some major changes in a government which discriminates against people of color.
As long as blacks want to perpetuate the division of black and white. Why don't the blacks start Miss Black America and exclude whites. White people could never get away with it but I beleive the black victims could, so, go for it.

I'm white and I voted for Dennis Kucinich in the FL primaries (early voting). Dennis said what to me are the magic words: "Repeal the Patriot Act." That to me is FAR more important than any race question.
He still would have won. Most of the voters were actually black. So if 81% of whites has voted for Hilary he still would have won, but it would have been closer. At any rate, 76% of the white voters voted for a white candidate!!!

Miss America 1990, 1991,1994, 2003, and 2004 were all black. Miss America 2001 was asian.
