Bj Penn was born in Honolulu and raised in wainaku outside of Hilo. He wasn't raised in Mt view. He trained with Ralph in honolulu where Ralph has a gym. Whenever Bj used to hold beat down or rumble on the rock in Hawaii it would be Bj Penn's jiu jitsu vs Gracie jiu jitsu. It's a good rivalry between the 2 camps. There is another grace that open a gym in Hilo. Idk if he earned the status of Gracie or if he is blood.
@PKKN808 Bra you forgot relson gracie hes da frist graice to open BJJ in HI. But BJ started training with Ralph in Cail when he frist started when he was 17. but the frist one that taught bj in BJJ was Tom callos which was a blue belt at da time. then got BJ hooked on um
@gary83uk umm bj Penn has in fact rolled with the graces uhhh Ralph gracie's school in mountain view where bj Penn was raised into BJJ he rolled with Ralph and some other cousins soo u can't say bj I not far away from Gracie BJJ status
Bj couldve gone down a multi time world champ a la Marcelo...the first time he entered the Mundials, only months after getting his black, he beats everyone. Imagine if he had kept coming back each year.
@alexpalalove He was fighting the #2 p4p fighter on earth, possibly the best athlete in all of MMA, who is also a black belt, who by the way outweighed him by 19 lbs during the fight. Nothing to be embarrassed about
@alexpalalove GSP competes at 170lb, naturally a 195lb~200lber BJ penn competes at 155lb, walks around at 165~170lb.. not to mention, GSP is a great wrestler who nullifies ground game very well in mma. Both are great fighters but BJ Penn in my opinion is my favourite out of the two
That's some high quality stuff. I've never seen Reagan on the mats before, but he's pretty damn good. He escaped BJ's mount quite nicely! He's a black belt, the last I heard.
In BJ Penn's new book he said taht Reagan was the first Penn to win at Mundials. Reagan was only a white belt and won the blue belt division in Mundials. Similar to what BJ Penn did.
BJ in VERY good, insane balance and control skills, and his brother is also very good...incredible....marcelo garcia couldn t last one round in the ring against bj.
I doubt BJ could even come close to winning ADCC or the mundials now. He has lost a lot of flexibility and speed in the years since he was a BJJ world champion.
As you concentrate on different aspects of training and change your body to suit MMA rather than BJJ you aren't the same level at BJJ.
Your ignorant, Penn hasn't competed at BJJ in 10 years but you see him RNC fighters in mma and you think he has the level of BJJ of current world champions...he doesn't.
BJJ has evolved a lot in 10 years and Penn isn't even as good at pure BJJ as he was 10 years ago - even then, he won a world championship in an underdeveloped division that had nowhere near the number of entrants as it does today.
Yeah i mean i guess that make no sense lol lets see he has the best ground game in the UFC for no reason. lol and the fastest black blet in the U.S stared doing BJJ when he was 17 and got his black belt in three years. Yeah beat all the graice in BJJ but i guess they suck huh lol and there the ones that made BJJ and when he was a white belt he beat black belts in BJJ and Judo but yeah hes not good enough
UFC is MMA not BJJ, its completely different after you add the ability to punch people in the face - which is what Penn does before he even attempts a submission, he wouldnt be able to do that in BJJ.
The gracies he beat in MMA were never even close to being the best in BJJ and even if he did, he beat them in MMA not BJJ.
As for the myth that he was a white belt, he was a JUDO white belt, he was a BJJ brown belt.
Dur i think i know that lol i do MMA and do BJJ in Hawaii uh not only he beat them in MMA he rolled with all of them befor i think i would know i live here bra :) thats where he stared doing BJJ with the graices. And please tell where you heared this myth at? even if it was a myth JUDO guys are mostly better then guys in BJJ and he was beating black belts. And do you really think just cuz hes does MMA now he would get beat in competeing in BJJ. MORE
@matwizard okey? where do you do Judo at? cuz they must fucking suck lol in Hawaii we have ppl from Japan teaching judo. judo is very similer to Jujitsu thats where jujitsu came from all judo guys over there beat jujitsu guys cuz theres alot more takedowns and on the ground they go to jujitsu. and if you did beat brown blets in judo and theres champs in judo torments then you talk to me lol
@TEB055808 what? your comprehension of the english language isnt so good. and i train with ATT. just got my blue belt. judo practitoners have nothing on BJJ guys, once it hits the ground they are lost. i won the State judo tournament , against a brown belt, here in missouri, using judo rules. he threw me and got a wazari , i swept him and subbed him. match over. im 2X state judo champ and havent trained a day of pure judo in my life. just bjj. nuff said.
@matwizard like i said untill you train with judo guys from japan then talk lol missouri not even as big in MMA like in Hawaii or cail lol you cant compare judo in the U.S and to judo in japan lol its like me saying yeah i beat muay thai fighters in the U.S but never fought a muay thai fighter in thailand where the real muay thai goes down
you're officially retarded. EVEN IF GSP was greased up, which he was not. the argument was that his BACK was greased to stop BJs guard, not his arms and stomach and legs, which were the contact points on their bodies that GSP used to repeatedly pass BJs guard. you dont even know what you're talking about, and you're a bj nuthugger to boot. kill yourself.
I guess im talking to a guy thats in a specail ed class or something lol I said if you trained befor and trained for hours and hours its hard to put ppl in submissoins so i cant even think if someone put grase on them that would make it even harder then sweat. DUR dumb ass lol dude im done talking to you lol just keep thinking the way you think. choose something esle to do cuz martal arts ant your thing
actually it's not an argument whether or not GSP was greased, he was greased the argument was what to do about it. And Bj isnt the only fighter to say that about him, his last 5 opponents said GSP is extra slippery during fights, that my friend is not a coincidence.
@joebeast15 Yeah yeah yeah, now you're just wolfin dude. its so funny how all these guys after realizing they could get some respect back by saying he was greased, did. why did not a single one say anything? ive seen this technique 100 times and it would have to be on such a small area if they used the most slippery grease on earth it wouldnt matter they way phil nurse did it. put the goddamn grease thing to bed. gsp would beat all of those guys again 10 out of 10 times. get a life.
Yeah and thats a big thing lol you say you train you should know this. did you ever rolled on the mats for hours and see how swety you get and its alot harder to pull off submissions so i cant even think if you put grease on you. kill myself? pretty gay come back lol you dont need to train. what you need to do is work on your come backs
@TEB055808 So your original argument was, gsp was greased up , even though he wasnt and they said it wasnt even in the area that was relative to passing the guard, now that i pwned that argument, you say because they were sweating that gsp passed bjs guard? Which happens in every fight?, if gsp sweated when they rolled jiu jitsu it would be the same thing. you are once again, officially fucking stupid. just stop while you're , well not ahead, but a lightyear away from me. you're dumb.
AS YOU CAN SEE he still does rolls on da mat without doing MMA lol and alot of the guys he rolls with are just BJJ guys and not MMA fighters and he still taps them out. For older to you to be good in MMA you gotta have some pretty good ground skills if you dont your going get tapout and bj never got taped out in a MMA macth which is a alot harder then just doing BJJ lol the guy trying to put you in a submissoin plus punching you in the face gives him a better chance to tap you out
@gary83uk BJ Penn is one of the greatest BJJ practitioners in the world. And calling Renzo Gracie to not be a great BJJ practitioner is beyond stupid. BJ Penn won the mundials in the black belt division after barely receiving his Black Belt. Learn some facts about BJ before being a noob. He also trained under Ralph Gracie for a while. There is a reason he is called the prodigy, he is one the the fastest and Legit people to ever earn their black belt.
@TEB055808 so by best ground game in the UFC you mean that GSP didnt pass his guard and do what he wanted with BJ? and whats the UFC anyway? thats not a measuring stick for BJJ Black belts. its one organization of mixed martial arts. you are officially stupid. And a fanboy.
@matwizard Ummmm lets see here i thik GSP is one of the best Wreslters in the UFC and has the best take downs but ground no and you are offcially a dumb ass lol im going by the UFC status BJ HAS THE BEST groundgame but idk i guess there lieing huh lol all GSP does is takedowns and ground and pound thats no good ground skills at all i guess your dont know your shit lol let GSP and BJ just roll on the mats with no MMA now thats a didfferent story and fanboy? i do MMA in hawaii and cail lol
